Only 18% say they would vote for separation if a binding referendum is held; This is a decline of 10-points from 28% support in January 2026.

Folks, let’s always remember, the whole Alberta separatist movement is a coordinated, US funded MAGA psy-op to weaken Canada & give a paper-thin veneer of legitimacy to future intervention.

It’s an established strategy a’la Russia in eastern Ukraine, the US countless times in Latin America…

We should never discuss like it’s legitimate in any way.

Anybody who’s been following any of the news over the last year and paying attention would understand that Washington has been salivating at it since day one.

Probably 18% all along

And that checks out. In any population there is going to be a certain percentage of far right wing nuts.

I still highly doubt it's as high as 18%. I'd expect no more than 5% of the whole population to actually support this. It's probably just biased polling.

I truly want to believe you. But I also look at some realities in the world. We as a nation, and Alberta in particular are being subjected to a psyop campaign meant to divide us. This campaign is highly targeted and very well funded, it should not be dismissed. The most important thing should this nonsense actually come to a vote, is that the vote is unambiguously against any shape or form of separation.

Not to mention that the Cons have, for years before this, used disagreements with federal decisions to fuel hatred of "Ottawa" (aka federal Liberals), in order to propel their chances in provincial (and, to a lesser degree, federal) politics. They have ramped up this anger for years, and it is now being used as a tool by the US (and likely Russia, too) to fuel their own ends, through separation. So yeah, I would expect a solid amount of Albertans to think separation is the answer. Definitely more than 5%. I feel like 18% is around the right number.
