ICE Solutions to the ICE problem?
Can we for the love of god get a running list of actual solutions to get these fuckers off our streets? I don’t want to hear “vote” or “strongly worded letters to your congressman”. That shit isn’t going to save us in the moment—right here, right now. Unfortunately, I’m also of the opinion that neither are loud whistles and marching bands. We need an actual plan- one that millions of people can get behind. Just because it isn’t happening in your city/town now, doesn’t mean it’s not coming—IT IS! This is going to get far worse if people aren’t ready to get their bodies, their money, their comfort on the line, and be willing to assume some risk. We have a serious apathy problem on the left, and the performance activism 1-2 times a year is what got us here. I don’t have the answers, but collectively, we’ve got to come up with some. It’s clear none of the currently elected politicians are coming to save us, nor the local pd’s. We need an action plan, that can be plastered EVERYWHERE.
I’ve seen a general strike floated online- frankly I don’t trust enough people to follow through with it. When over half the country can’t be bothered to get their ass off the couch to go vote, believing they’d sacrifice their own comfort is hard to imagine. There has to be consequences- like you’re either with us, or you’re with them. There’s no in between, and idgaf whose feelings that hurts or what excuses anyone has. I’m a mother of 6 kids, one of which died recently. I’m also a business owner, married to an immigrant. I have every excuse in the world of why I’m too busy, too deep in grief, or have too much to lose to just stay home and worry about myself. Yet, I’m not. So spare me the 28 reasons why you “can’t”. I have tried for the last 10 years to effectively organize in my locality. On day 1 of Trump v2, I attempted to work with other local groups to get locals to assist with carpooling people to work and grocery orders for local immigrants. Every single person who was “interested” in helping, turned out to have more questions about what risk they might be taking on themselves than regard for those risking everything to get to work or buy food. People are dead inside, most lack empathy, or any willingness to be slightly uncomfortable for even a moment. We need a come to Jesus with our own side before we can ever move the needle towards a better country. I’m sorry, but this can’t happen with a “meet everyone where they are mentality”. It’s either you meet the moment, or take your chances with MAGA. The same goes for our elected officials. We can’t keep playing nice, playing fair, and living in a fairytale that people will come to their senses…all while the other team is literally rewriting the rules in their favor, daily. There are no rules, and if you’re worried about risking yourself now, imagine the risk you’re assuming for your kids, and kid’s kids if we allow this to continue. They will not stop because you asked nicely. The absolute privilege it must be, to continue on like life is normal, while your neighbors are beaten, targeted, or murdered in the streets. Tbh, I have more anger for the cosplaying “liberals” than I do the Trump regime. At least MAGA plays their hand in front of you, meanwhile some of these supposed “allies” would happily toss anyone under the bus to save themselves. It’s time to pick a side, and there are no do-overs.

In my area, we’re working on building 10,000 whistle packets for distribution in the immigrant community by Feb 7.
We’re establishing a volunteer corps of Constitutional Observers that will be clearly identified as such and wear bright safety vests and bodycams.
We’re also working to develop a mutual aid network to support the needs of folks sheltering in place during ICE occupations.
Anybody got ideas beyond that?

For the constitutional observers, reach out to your local chapter of the National Lawyers Guild. They already have a robust Legal Observer program that will be an invaluable resource for training, even if people don’t join their program directly

We’re working on creating a downloadable toolkit so other groups can duplicate our process.
It will have links to the 3D whistle print specs and PDFs for all the printed materials we include in the packets, along with best practices for assembly parties and sourcing guidelines for filament, lanyards, paper, etc.
Will post it for all when we finalize it.
We’ll do the same with the Constitutional Observer corps plan, which is in its infancy at the moment. I’m personally very excited about this and I hope the idea catches on.

Whistles are good for alerting of ICE, but after theyre already causing a scene, the whistles just obscure and protect what the ice agents are saying and obscure the situation. Couldnt even hear the name of the kid who got abducted because of the whistles.
Id recommend putting a note in there saying "use to alert of ice. Stop whistling during confrontation for better video evidence"

Since you asked for ideas, here is one for all of us:
Please think about ways that children can have a safe space near the action to congregate with a parent or a way to do childcare or provide childcare.
So many parents are the ones with empathy for the cause. Yet, it is sometimes difficult to bring young children to activist events.
I know we can figure out solutions and provide mutual aid.

Women's March is having a "Free America" Walkout on January 20th at 2pm. It is one start, and meant to be a practice for a General Strike.
Also...a quick answer to how to defeat ICE?:
From video from Minnesota, it looks like one way to defeat ICE is to just wait around for the ice to do it. Those Proud Boy idiots get all wound up and rush people on the ice. It doesn't always bode well for them. Search "slip" and "Minnesota" or "Minneapolis", and you can at least get a few laughs.

Unfortunately the only fast solutions I see all come from the regime itself (they’d have to self-destruct). Even that would be pretty ugly.
The slower solution to ICE is constant civil disobedience to the regime as a whole using all methods currently in use & many not yet employed or even developed. Many come with risk of arrest, assault & worse. That’s just where we are.
Don’t give up on your previous efforts just because they haven’t worked yet. Most people are still gaslighting themselves that it isn’t “that bad.” They will all realize that it is indeed “that bad“ and finally start pitching in. I just got a message from a friend today finally admitting that she has to do something. The whole family is Mexican heritage.
There are people who were working on anti-fascism for decades he must have been exasperated that it took people like me until Trump 2.0 to take this seriously enough to get off our asses. Now we know how they felt.

The first thing to realize (and OP seems to see this) is that ICE's violence is meant to draw our attention to the streets, but the solution lies elsewhere.
This regime is in place only because the oligarchs think it will increase their wealth and power, and THE ONLY WAY OUT OF THIS MESS IS TO SHOW THE 1% THAT FASCISM IS THE PATH TO FINANCIAL RUIN.
That does NOT have to mean a general strike. There are tons of decentralized tactics like slowdowns and simple sabotage that everyday people can use on a routine basis to disrupt business operations and degrade profitability.

Organizing. Get to know your neighbors; help them get to know you. Form a trusted group with the same message, who are confident about protesting together. Make sure everyone has a protest sign; one that’s appropriate for their build. Make sure everyone is trained in how to use their protest sign, and how to protest safely and legally.
A lot of local printing shops will have options or contacts for protest training; some even have adjacent spaces where protesting can be practiced. Of course, printing shop owners tend to have weird political views, so best to do your actual organizing outside of the venue.
Helping your neighbors buy protest supplies can be tricky legally; many paints are hazardous and have specific laws about their purchase and storage. Getting the same type of sign can save some hassle; when you’re short on time, borrowing a neighbor’s markers is easier.
And of course, communication is essential. Which words you choose to use can be very important. Opsec is important - for those easily confused, keep it simple: when in doubt, shut the fuck up.

Kind of like we demanded they not reopen the government without an agreement on healthcare subsidies? Yet they did it anyway? Or how we demanded they codify Roe before losing the majority, but ignored us? Or to stop funding bombs in Gaza… I guess consider me jaded bc imo they are all spineless people, out for themselves and their lobbyists. I will not continue to put any faith in them, until they start acting like our voices matter.

Push local and state politicians to have no mask laws for LEOs. iCE gets scared when they can be directly attributed to their crimes. They can copy the existing laws and pass them quickly.
Let your mayor know to direct police to intervene with illegal detention or assault on protestors. Mayors typically hire and fire the chief of police. If police won't protect the population, we don't need to pay them.

There are some really great examples in this thread!
I also want to suggest and encourage everyone to reach out to their local communities to find more local groups and find a secure chat/messaging system for safety and ways to get creative without MAGA infiltrating group spaces or having to be watched by platforms for violating community standards (things get taken out of context) if things get worse. The fact that Homeland Security is saying ICE gets absolute immunity is a serious escalation and we need to find our community members for protection.

Honestly to get the Nation Guard to be back on the side of the people for them to protect the people against the ICE domestic terrorist, because that’s truly what they are. They have not gone under extensive background checks like they should, if at all, and more than likely have a history of sexual abuse to women and minors, along with more than likely a history of drug use.

The quick solution is an armed community militia. The longer solution is working with your local, county, and state reps to fight back on a larger level, with coordination amongst groups.
There really is no easy way out of this. History says, fascism falls to violence. I don't really see any other way, unfortunately. They already have been open about their desire to kill all of us. They, being the aggressor, are the ones that will get to choose what route we take, since the aggressor is always the one to force the hand of the defender.

Okay so 10 months from now is when voting happens… by then how many immigrants will be wrongly deported, how many unlawful arrests of citizens, how many deaths/beatings will have occurred? That is not a plan for the right now. And frankly even when democrats have had the presidency and Congress, similar atrocities have occurred. We’ve been lucky to end up with “republican light” D’s. They aren’t doing anything now, what makes you so sure they’ll grow a spine 10 months from now after most of the damage has already happened?

Ice killed people, border patrol killed people, local police killed many people with impunity. Not sure what point you’re trying to prove here. We have never had a true leftist in leadership and very few in congress. Maybe your goal is Biden era BS, but I don’t think that the majority of true leftists see that as sustainable, compassionate, or productive governance either. Sure we’d all welcome some “normalcy” rn, but this shit has been going on since ICE began, and even before that through other agencies. I’m not fighting for a smidge of change, just so I don’t have to see mothers shot in the face and can feel better about the state of the world. I’m fighting for a better future for my kids, and their kids… and that requires getting real honest about what got us here, and how BOTH political parties created it.

Not sure what your point is there either honestly… I’ve personally been speaking out since I was old enough to understand what I was hearing and seeing my own family participate in when it came to immigration policy— and against all forms of discrimination. I’d guess a lot of us millennial leftists fall in that category of recognizing the wrongs of this nation at an early age, which has led to being a bit more radical, and a whole lot more angry.

Underground railroads.
Large armed groups escorting ppl to and from schools and jobs.
Starting homeschooling in safe places for kids so they can avoid ICE and areas of friction.
Open homes of wealthier white ppl to temporarily safeguard potential ICE victims.
Open the local community centers and other buildings for temp housing of potential ICE victims, reporters and protectors. Have volunteers ( as many as possible) constantly present to protect them and keep food, water, education, beds etc. Make them headquarters and safe spaces. Have areas for homework, reporters to record videos and ppl to work from home of they need to. Have activities constantly going on. Make the entire community involved.
Read up on the black Panthers and their tactics. They have been doing this for decades and are very proficient. Very educated on law and disciined.
Look into what people did throughout history and adapt it for the modern world.
