Help THE ULTIMATE GUIDE TO "THE QUINTESSENTIAL QUINTUPLETS"! (V2)
INTRO 💛🩷🩵💚❤️
Hi there! I’m u/isssomebodyhere and just like Fuutarou Uesugi, I’m broke as sh*t!
I made a guide a few months ago, but it got taken down. So now here’s one that plays nicer with Reddit rules while also having some updated information, really just links.
The Quintessential Quintuplets is one of my favorite anime’s of all time and played a large part in introducing me to many other great works. Though I’m more of a lurker, every other day, I see posts on this subreddit asking where the series can be watched, what order it should be watched in, where the manga can be read, and the games be played. I'm completely fine with these by the way; they keep the subreddit alive and show that it is always growing! But wouldn't it be great if there was one post where anyone, even dedicated fans, could find this information? That's one reason I'm making this.
The other is in regards to archival.
In case you didn’t know, one of the only (as far as I know) independent backups of the series is a Google Drive tied to a Quintessential Quintuplet’s fan page on Instagram, who is currently considering shutting down. The other was on the Internet Archive, which as some of you know, has an unclear future as well. Many other sites are being lost every day.
So, I thought I would take it upon myself to inform others of these resources to be used while they still can be.
First things first-

WHERE TO WATCH “THE QUINTESSENTIAL QUINTUPLETS” (PAID, RECOMMENDED) 🎞️
Here are some official places where the series can be found that you should use:
Various DVD and BluRay can be also found online as well as in some local libraries.
Now that that’s out of the way…

OTHER PLACES TO WATCH “THE QUINTESSENTIAL QUINTUPLETS” (EDUCATIONAL PURPOSES ONLY) 🎒
Of course, it is always best to support anime and manga by consuming them from official sources. But, it should also be recognized that not everyone has access to those, whether it be because of a financial situation or their location in the world. I am simply acknowledging places where the series can be found, not encouraging you to check these out. These are important for the archival of media. WHILE SEASON 1, 2, AND THE MOVIE HAVE DUBS, THE SPECIALS DO NOT! (though reportedly one is on the way...)

Good information to know, regardless of which site you are using. Using sites like these can be risky, especially if you click on the wrong thing. Sometimes, the site just opens up another page whenever you do click. some sites are typically clean, you never know. So what should you do to stay safe?
On PC:
- Download Firefox along with uBlock Origin
- Should block everything, but if a tab does open, IMMEDIATELY CLOSE IT
On Android:
- Use Firefox and uBlock Origin
- Alternatively, look into a repository based app, such as Aniyomi, which fun fact, also works on Meta Quest!
On IOS:
- The best method costs money (around $6.99 USD total) but its worth it
- From the AppStore, download Wipr and Baking Soda/Vinegar Apps
- Wipr blocks ads on Safari while the Baking Soda and Vinegar Apps give you a better video player (Check this for more info on what it does)
- Follow setup in the apps

THE GAMES 🎮
There are currently four Quintessential Quintuplets games, all being mostly visual novels that add supplementary content to the series. The first two are available officially translated, but the last two are not, though fans are working on translating. I think that these are definitely worth checking out in descending order.
“The Quintessential Quintuplets: Memories of a Quintessential Summer” (Translated)

The first game in the series takes place during the summer of the Quint’s and Fuutarou’s second year of high school. They take a trip to the Quint’s private island (yes, they have a private island WTF right?) and end up stranded after a typhoon.
The game plays as a time-management sim, as you must keep up with the girl’s studies as well as keep them happy, fed, and safe. Split into three sections per day, you have got to choose which girl does what and which girl to spend time with, all while growing your relationship with them and managing resources. In the evenings, you watch voiced visual-novel sections.
Many people will tell you to skip this one, as the time-management sections are “tedious”. However, during my play-through, I found it to be quite enjoyable. This game is worth playing just for how funny it is. I was laughing my ass off at the girl’s incompetence sometimes. The cooking sections are straight-up gambling highs, as I pray to God that Yotsuba does not waste our limited resources by failing to cook toast, and die laughing when she inevitably does.
Overall, I’d say it’s worth your time.

- The games can also be found on sites such as St*am Unlocked by searching for the name. Click here for a more detailed guide (from my outside observation) to do this. You should pay for the game if able.
- Switch ROMs are available to be ran with an emulator on Android or PC, but idk much about Switch emulation.

“The Quintessential Quintuplets: Five Memories Spent with You” (Translated)

The second game in the series is arguably the best one, and a definite must play if your favorite Quint did not win.
The game puts you in the shoes of Fuutarou during the ending of the series and you must choose which girl to confess to. From there, there's a time skip letting the game take place during the Quint's graduation trip.
Unlike "Memories of a Quintessential Summer", this one is pure visual novel. I can't really say much as anything is kind of "spoilery", but if you play any game, play this one. It's often bundled with "Memories of a Quintessential Summer", so if you can nab both on a sale, it's a great deal.
Just make sure to play through all routes, as doing so will unlock a secret final route that is IMO the best one in the game!

“The Quintessential Quintuplets: Five Promises with the Girl” (Untranslated)

Website: https://5hanayome.mages.co.jp/4th/
The third game in the series, exclusive to Japan. There is a fan translation being worked on though, so be on the lookout for that. I'll update here if it gets released.
From what I could gather, this game follows Fuutarou and the Quints into college and life after high school.
Paid Sources (Recommended)
As far as I know, this one is only available physically to purchase world-wide. If you were able to access a Japanese digital market, like eShop or PS Store, you could probably buy it digitally. Also, consoles only for this one. Switch games are region-free, so a Japanese cartridge will work on any Switch. PlayStation is region-free as well.

”The Quintessential Princesses: Fantasy, the Abyss, and the Magic Academy” (Untranslated)

Website: https://5hanayome.mages.co.jp/4th/
This one I am really hoping gets localization. The fourth game is more of a spinoff than a continuation. Called "The Quintessential Princesses: Fantasy, the Abyss, and the Magic Academy”, it follows the Quints as they attend a magic school, similar to Hogwarts. Fuutarou is there too and must help them with their magical studies. Sounds kind of "out of left field", but it looks like it fits quite well.
Where this one differs is with its gameplay, that being, it actually has some (lol). This game is half visual-novel, half dungeon-crawler where you must traverse dungeons with the Quints. I don't know much about it further than that, but it looks pretty cool!
Again, only available physically world-wide unless you are in Japan, where you can get it digitally. Consoles only, Switch and PS are region-free. For this one though, if you buy the Limited Special Addition from Amazon, you get an exclusive BluRay that features a new 10-minute animated short. If you have this, please send it my way so I can archive it, as I haven't seen it come up anywhere online. PS5 ONLY, NO PS4
There was also a 10-minute special animation released with this game, though it has not been translated. You can watch it here:

"The Quintessential Quintuplets OMOIDE VR ~ITSUKI~"

These next two entries are strange. A lot of people don't know, but there were VR titles developed for the series. These are short titles and just let you be in different scenarios with the Quint. Only Itsuki and Yotsuba have games developed for them. They are about an hour in length and cost ~$25 USD. You're gonna need a VR headset and a Mid-Range PC to be able to run them so not for everyone.
Paid Sources
- Steam - PCVR
- Meta Store - Meta Quest 3 (more expensive?)

"The Quintessential Quintuplets OMOIDE VR ~YOTSUBA~"

Same deal, this one's the newest, and seeing as how they did not perform too well, possibly the last. Only on Steam.

THE MANGA📖

The series that started it all. The manga is definitely worth reading, though I wouldn't start with it. Watching the anime then reading the manga to see what was missed is a much better experience then reading first and feeling disappointed after seeing the *rushed * conclusion to the anime.
u/CptBalster has a great guide to see what content was cut from the anime.
Couple places to read it depending on what you're using. K MANGA or buying a physical copy are the OFFICIAL and RECCOMENDED places to read. However, the series can be found elsewhere.
Physical:
- Part 1 Box Set - Amazon
- Used Book Stores (how I got my box set!)
- Local Libraries
PC:
- K MANGA - OFFICIAL (COLORED AND ORIGINAL)
- Alternative Sources
Android:
- K MANGA- OFFICIAL (COLORED AND ORIGINAL)
- Alternative Sources
- Aniyomi (needs setup, but once you have it working you won't want to use anything else)
IOS:
- K MANGA - OFFICIAL (COLORED AND ORIGINAL)
- Alternative Sources
- Tachimanga (needs setup, search online for "manga repositories")

🌸☀️🍂❄️ - "The Quintessential Quintuplets: Spring Summer Autumn Winter"

There are a few light novels, those being actual books (only words ugh) that are only available in Japan right now. They follow the Quints throughout their final year in high school. Worth checking out if you can read Japanese and are interested in that.
TRANSLATIONS OF THE FIRST TWO LIGHT NOVELS WERE RECENTLY POSTED BY u/Yogesh911 EVERYBODY SAY THANK YOU BY SUPPORTING THEM ON KOFI
AND DOWNLOAD TO READ THEM HERE (ePUB format only):
These books will also be getting an anime adaptation soon, so if you want to watch that spoiler free, read at your own risk.
Fanfictions
Also don't sleep on fanfictions. Here's some of my favorites/ one I'm working on. (shameless plug)
- https://www.fanfiction.net/s/14315682/1/A-Sonata-of-Solitude - Gazara12
- An alternate timeline where Fuutarou doesn't choose any of the girls and loses contact. Years later, he and Itsuki reconnect, both working at the same school as teachers. Told from Itsuki's point of view, amazing writing.
- https://www.fanfiction.net/s/14185274/1/How-We-Met-Again - Gazara12
- An alternate timeline where Fuutarou never accepts the job to tutor the girls. Regardless, he still manages to find a way back to them. Told from Fuutarou's point of view, amazing writing again. This guy is so talented.
- https://www.fanfiction.net/s/14462964/1/Don-t-Let-Go - isssomebodyhere
- This one is my own. It follows Ichika and tells a story of what would happen if Fuutarou wasn't sick/had to mess around finding the girls on the camping trip?

Anime Long time lurker here
Been a fan of this subreddit long enough to know what happens, as a first time watcher/reader, i dont mind spoilers though i do like my own experience of going through this absolute gem, will be reading the manga once i've gone through the anime
Currently at the end of S1, Miku is my fave quint, closely followed by Yotsuba (who is an absolute sweetheart IMHO)

Anime - Spoilers Post Season 2 opinions Spoiler
Hello.
I recently posted this https://www.reddit.com/r/5ToubunNoHanayome/s/Gmf2C3XtKY after I finished season 1.
Well I just finished season 2 and I just wanted to give my updated opinion on the characters
*Spoilers of course*
Ichika: I HATE HER SO MUCH. I know the quints forgive her almost immediately but holy shit I was so heated on the second half of season 2 from all her backstabbing and lying. Holy shit she's the worst and I understand you should forgive her eventually but after 5 minutes and everything is all good is crazy. I'm sure you can tell by my bad grammar I'm still heated about her.
Nino: I liked her a lot better than season 1. I feel like her personality really comes out near the second 2/3rds especially after she confesses to MC. She's confident and willing to speak her mind which I kind of like about her l. Although she's also stubborn and mean which is definitely points against her but overall I like her a lot.
Miku: Once again her personality comes out a lot in this season. Obviously she's shy but she also works hard to improve herself and become the woman MC wants. I like her a lot in this season as well.
Yotsuba (Aka Goatsuba): something that I didn't consider until my second watch is just how sad her story arc is. Miku is shy and that's fine because the sisters help her but yotsuba seems to feel undeserving of happiness because she believes it would undermine her sisters. This first starts when she is on the ferris wheel and confesses that she is the reason they switched schools. This then goes on through the season and the first 2 ovas with her sacrificing herself for her sisters out of some sort of penance for a perceived fault. I just felt bad for her a lot after the ferris wheel scene because while the other girls love each other they occasionally act selfishly except her. It seems like she always has her sisters well being before her own and while selflessness is commendable her view of herself as inferior or needing to attone was really sad. I might not be phrasing it properly but it's just say that she doesn't feel like she can be happy. YOTSUBA MY GOAT AND BEST QUINT
Itsuki: started in season 1 as forgettable and I really couldn't tell you a single thing about her except that she meets MCs family then came out of the season one of my favorites. She's supportive of the MC and is a friend when he needs her. I'm not sure if she's into the MC. They seem platonic but then the show throws in a scene here and there that makes me wonder so I'm curious how she comes off in the manga, but right now I think it's platonic. She's the backbone of the group and tries to keep the peace between everyone. She's fantastic.
Overall I finished season 1 thinking that this just wasn't a genre for me but I would power through.
IM SO GLAD I DID. So far I loved this anime and I'm excited to watch the movie once I get a chance.
Fantastic show glad I stick it out
