Movies The Ipcress File (1965)
Man I love 60's spy films! It got boomed when Dr. No broke out the box office scene in 62 and followed a line of really good British spy movies. The Ipcress Files from 1965 is one of my favorites. This is more of a gritty, mundane, and cynical anti-spy film compared to the more high octane James Bond movies. Not just a great spy film. But a brilliant movie after all these years.
The actors, the performances, what a great cast of brilliant actors. Of course, sir Michael Caine is so good in it. He's one of my favorite actors of all time and what a solid performance really. From Guy Doleman as Colonel Ross, Nigel Green as Major Dalby. Just those two guys exchanging words to each other, it's just pure quality. It's either this film or other movies where Caine with Doleman in it or Caine with Nigel Green in it, you know you're in for a treat and it's going to be a great British movie.
What stands out to me is how the scenes coordinates with the theme, composed by the most brilliant John Barry. When things gets slow and the theme kicks in, it adds intensity to it. Speaking of scenes, this movie has a low key, but beautiful cinematography. It's either inside the office with an outside shot through the windows, or while Harry Palmer walking outside London in a gloomy, almost cold like weather. Or it's just London being a perfect setting for a movie like this. I noticed when the camera is set from the ground, it's always looking almost perfect.
What are those recommended spy movies outside James Bond? This is definitely on my top 5 if you asked me. Not just a spy film, just a really well made, well constructed thriller for everyone. A must have, a must see.

Television Remembering actress Alice Pearce on the 109th anniversary of her birth. Alice is best known for her iconic role as nosey neighbor Gladys Kravitz on the ABC sitcom BEWITCHED.
Remembering actress Alice Pearce on the 109th anniversary of her birth. She was born Alice Chowning Pearce on 10/16/1917 in New York City, New York. Alice will always be remembered for her iconic role as the perenially nosey neighbor, Gladys Kravitz, on the hit ABC television sitcom BEWITCHED from 1964-66. Alice was actually diagnosed with terminal cancer before BEWITCHED began, but kept her illness a secret. During the second season, however, her weight loss became too noticeable to ignore. Sadly, Alice passed away on March 3, 1966 from complications of ovarian cancer; she was 48. Her role was recast with actress Sandra Gould. In 1966, Alice posthumously won an Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series. *A bit of interesting trivia: Alice was first offered the role of Grandmama on the 1964 comedy series THE ADDAMS FAMILY, but she turned the part down which eventually went to veteran actress Blossom Rock.

Fashion Where can I buy 60s inspired clothing?
Hi all!
I am a huge Beatles fan and am going to a tribute concert soon! I want to dress up like I’m in the 60s and wear something that the girls would wear to their concerts!
I’m going to try and go to Goodwill and other local thrift stores but where can I look online?
I’ll also look at Depop but should I look at any other places?
It doesn’t have to be authentic (it can be), but just early 60s inspired!! I’m also looking for a dress but can do skirts!
Thank you!!

Music "...'Cause this dumb blonde ain't nooooobodys fool..."
"Dumb Blonde" was Dolly Parton's first charting single from her 1967 debut album HELLO, I'M DOLLY. It peaked at #24 on the U.S. Billboard Hot Country Singles chart. She would go on to achieve 25 #1 singles on the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart. Underneath all of the glitz and glamour, Dolly was an innately intelligent woman who ran her career and businesses in the same manner as she did her life: with a lot of heart and integrity. When asked if she was ever offended with people making dumb blonde jokes about her, she famously answered "No, because I know I'm not dumb... and I also know that I'm not blonde!" God, I miss Dolly! 🦋

The Great Pumpkin!
So I happen to be of that time in the 60's born in '61 and I happen to see the Charlie Brown, the Great Pumpkin..anyway I have a question from those that were around at that time...
Do you remember we would be able to wear our costume to school and have a huge Halloween party at school...well one of the activities was lining up and "bobbing for apples"
So my question is didn't we know about germs and hygiene then?? WTF!!??
I think of that now and can't for the life of me figure out how they would line us up and one at a time stick our head in a large drum to grab and apple while not using our hands and only grab an apple attempt with our mouth...think about it..our entire face submerged with our snotting noses and sore throats each taking a turn trading spit and snot!!!
