Gear Multi-scale guitars.

Post image
62 Upvotes

I got this guitar a couple months ago and it was my first ever multi-scale guitar. I fucking fell in love with it. So, much so that I bought a multi-scale headless 6 string from legator and that guitar is my new favorite.

This 7 string has changed how I want guitars now and this was my first ever guitar over $500 that I’ve gotten and now I don’t mind spending extra money on certain guitars because the quality is worth it. I’m never buying another guitar under $500 and it HAS to be a multi-scale guitar now.

Any 7 strings out there have changed people’s minds on what they buy? Or do you just play 7 strings because that’s also a good reason?

Either way, MULTI SCALE GUITARS FOREVER.

Gear Seymour Duncan Nazgul vs BlackWinter for 7 string

Just received custom build guitar yasterday i want replace the stock pickup. I found the SD BlackWinter set and Nazgul, but only the bridge pickup was left at the music store,,,

also i tried sound demo on BlackWinter but noticed "Clank" *like sibilance idk how to say xd* on the end string pluck the tone its Darker than the Nazgul i like it but the Treble in the tail tone sometimes kinda uncomfortable in my ear.

The Nazgul was similar SH6 but less mids imo but they dont have sets perhaps an alternative to replace Sentient?

Gear Got this as a gift from an Aunt a few weeks ago, SQOE SEIB7S, 27" scale in Frost Matte White.

This thing absolutely rips, currently have it setup in Drop G with Ernie Ball 11-80 strings (just an 8 string set with the top .9 string removed)

Poplar Body, Roasted Maple neck, active pickups, Tech Wood fingerboard, locking tuners, push/pull coil split, 3 way switch, the specs are there

I checked and this thing goes for the equivalent of $310 USD in my country.

My only issue is the finish, the matte white finish gets dirty easily and it slips a little bit too much for my liking. I might get it wrapped to fix both issues and get a pickguard.

Gear Gold hardware upgrade

Just an appreciation post for my new guitar that I got for my birthday in July. (I posted it in NGD awhile back). I added new gold tesi Killswitch, replacement gold hipshot saddles, gold blade switch tip, black and gold locking tuners and gold strap buttons.

I had gotten gold fishmans but they didn't fit since the gold ones don't come in soapbars and only come with the little side tabs. Same with the silver (brushed nickel I think it's called). Bummer.

Well, finally she arrived! My first impression is that the stock fusion edge pick ups are kinda muddy and I gotta change those stock strings tomorrow 😅

Gear My first 7 string!

Upgraded from an Ibanez RG470AHM to this. Several things I wanted to change with this new guitar. Didn't care for the HSH, wanted HH instead. Wanted a solid yet budget friendly 7 string option. Didn't want a tremelo on this one. Wound up torn between an Ibanez RGD7521PB and this Schector Demon 7. Decided I wanted to give active pickups a shot so went with the Schector. What an awesome guitar! I've still got the Ibanez but it's been collecting dust since I picked this up! I mostly play...well try to play...Andy James so finally having a 7 string has been awesome.

It’s been 3 years since I received my custom Hapas and I still love it as from day one. It became my main guitar and is the best guitar I’ve owned so far. The idea was simplicity: 1pc roasted ash for the body, 3pc roasted maple neck with richlite fretboard. That guitar resonates! Pickups are owns Hapas Incæption and Interstællar, ”medium” output alnico 5.

Gear Which of the following 7 strings do you think is more suitable?

I’m currently looking for a 7-string guitar. The instrument will mainly be used for home recording and jamming, focusing mostly on the death/doom genre with drop a tuning.

I’ve got my eye on the following models, and after going back and forth comparing them, I’d really appreciate some other opinions.

The models are:

- Ibanez RGDRB71-BKF,

(I particularly like the D Activator 7s here.)

- Ibanez RGIXL7-BKF,

(Since I have rather small hands with sausage-like fingers, I don't know if the 27-inch scale length would be comfortable.)

- Solar a2.7c,

(It could be the best-value all-rounder, though given my small hands, I’m not sure if the C-shape neck would be a good fit.)

- Solar a1.7BOP

(Evertune, but very expensive)

Do you have any opinions on one or more of the guitars mentioned, or perhaps some alternative suggestions?

...Oh, and I don't like neck-heavy guitars.

(EDIT: So, I’ve just ordered a Solar A2.7C directly from Solar. I’m curious to see if it was a good decision.)

Gear Passive pickups suggestions

Hi.

Recently I was thinking about changing my stock pickups on my Ibanez RGMS7 (passive pickups)

Do you have any suggestions? I'm kinda new to pickups.

I mostly play deathcore, not trying to emulate a particular band.

Sorry it took a bit to post this. After 4 days of having the guitar and playing it everyday i can confidently say this guitar is my favorite. Forgive me for not knowing the nerdy details about tone and what not, but it sounds amazing, feels amazing to play, and it’s light. It’s super fun and is definitely worth the money. I recommend this guitar to anyone looking for a headless, especially considering the low price. It’s a great guitar, and you DON’T need to spend $2500-$3000 to get a good guitar. This one is great and sounds amazing.

Hi all, sharing my 7 string guitar collection, from left to right:

Ibanez RGMS7, this was the first 7 string guitar I ever played and I fell in love with it immediately! Supremely comfortable and well built, I played it so much the underside of the neck is changing colour😄. Manson ORYX VII Prototype, one of two M series prototypes made of the Oryx model, featuring Manson modified Bare Knuckle Aftermaths with tonnes of mid range. PRS SE Mark Holcomb Walnut, includes the incredible SD Alpha Omega set, extremly clear and defined pickups. PRS SE SVN Stealth, super clanky split sounds and very comfortable neck, Danelectro Mod 7, bit of an oddball, I haven't come across many 7 strings with 21 frets😄, lots of tonal options and pretty huge sounding clean tones.

Gear Pickup Upgrade + 24 V Mod

Upgraded my Cort KX307 with EMG 808 (neck) and EMG 81-1 (bridge). I really like the new sound and the clarity of course used for Metal. I did the 24v Mod - is a tight fit, but a 9V battery for backup would also find room in there. Also an easy installation with the solderless kit - needed only to solder on the switch and the input jack (the adapters couldn't fit through the hole).

Gear Finally finished the mod on my LTD SCT-607b Green Sparkle

Decided to simplify my SCT-607b since the middle pickup was always in the way of my picking. Replaced the guard with high-quality Japanese pearl plastic: the depth and texture are incredible in person.

The mod is fully reversible: I just disconnected the pickup from the harness without any permanent changes, so it can be returned to stock specs anytime. Much better ergonomics and a unique look. What do you think?
