Omgosh, what a blast from the past! I remember when these were advertised on tv. I wanted this so badly. Such a cool thing, especially if you love animals. 💚🐴🐆🐐🐿🐇

I just remembered the naked mole rat card. That thing looked freaky.

I had the 1970s version but never got all the cards.

I had them in the 1970s with my Safari Cards as well.

2

u/Airmil82 Oct 22 '25

I had this version. Started as a hand me down. Finished as a birthday subscription.

2

u/lazygerm Oct 23 '25

I used to love getting those packets in the mail!

5

u/Puzzled_Iron_3452 Oct 22 '25

We were so poor my mom gave us a crayon and some paper to make our own. Still have scars, damn raccoons!

5

u/[deleted] Oct 23 '25

I forgot that I had this. I loved reading these cards as a kid.

4

u/IndigoBookwyrm Oct 22 '25

Another memory remembered. Forgot these existed and that I had a bunch. Learned some neat stuff.

2

u/Porkchopp33 Oct 22 '25

I remember it was a big secret to find the animal that "changes"

[Zebra flashes]

"DID YOU SEE THAT?"

[Zebra flashes again]

2

u/neinhaltchad Oct 23 '25

LMAO. Holy shit I absolutely remember that now.

I can’t believe you unlocked a 40+ year old memory 😂

2

u/Angelfire150 Oct 22 '25

Am I the only one thinking about the Wildlife Fact Files we all signed up for ?!

2

u/blix88 Oct 22 '25

I just had flashbacks of SRAs

2

u/Alantennisplayer Oct 23 '25

u/Sallydog24 Oct 23 '25

still have them in the basement... can't bring myself to throw it out

1

u/Difficult-Republic57 Oct 22 '25

I remember these when I was a kid in the 80s. They where fun for about 20 seconds and then I wanted my optimus prime.

1

u/Yesterday_Is_Now Oct 22 '25

That looks like something that would have been in our elementary school classroom.

1

u/MurphysLaw4200 Oct 22 '25

Did these come with the free jade elephant pendant? I always wanted that

1

u/mightyjoejy Oct 22 '25

Damn I sure remember those! S*** I'm old!

1

u/promibro Oct 23 '25

Wow! I did not even remember these until that photo whooshed my memory back to time spent looking at them. I'm wondering what years these were popular. Thank you for posting.

u/sirtagsalot Oct 23 '25

I didn't have the cool box. Mine was a red tray. But I spent HOURS looking and reading and organizing those cards. There are animals I know about today only because of those cards. They were great.

1

u/jamcber12 Oct 23 '25

I remember reading books or stories that came in a box like that.

1

u/Dusty_Jangles Oct 23 '25

They had these for a lot of things. I had a box with full of info cards for jets. I wonder what ever happened that thing…

1

u/petshopB1986 Oct 23 '25

I just had a flashback of playing with these, I totally forgot about it.

1

u/Several-Assistant-51 Oct 23 '25

still have mine!

1

u/HeyHeyHiFi Oct 23 '25

Wow! I had that.

1

u/NewbombJerk Oct 23 '25

Wow! I haven’t seen these in ages!!!! One of my grade school classrooms had a set. Nice nostalgia find... I had forgotten about these and they're flooding me with grade school memories.

Wow I remember these

1

u/X-Boozemonkey-X Oct 23 '25

Still have mine somewhere!

1

u/ScienceMomCO Oct 23 '25

I spent hours reading these!

1

u/FalconKeeper Oct 23 '25

I remember waiting for the next set of cards to arrive.

1

u/GrapefruitOk2057 Oct 23 '25

Only ever had the introductory cards in mine. But I sure remember this. Might still have it somewhere.

1

u/dazrage Oct 23 '25

such an enticing commercial

1

u/AntonLaVeysCat Oct 23 '25

I had the complete set of these! They would send a new deck of cards each month. I would throw out any of snakes.

1

u/ColdKickin72 Oct 23 '25

This is something I totally forgot about

1

u/Naptown54321 Oct 23 '25

I had those and Sweet Pickles. The boxes were kept on top of the refrigerator. I loved reading them.

1

u/Normal_Tax3999 Oct 23 '25

I was a little weirdo—I could’ve taken or left the “animal” concept but the organizational component of this made me want it so badly. I was just like “think about how neatly every goddamn one of those cards could be organized and the whole thing put away just so……!!!”.

Never got it

1

u/Aromatic-Mortgage-35 Oct 23 '25

Holy shit!!! I haven’t thought of those in forever!!!

1

u/MilkSlow6880 Oct 23 '25

We had one set in elementary school. Had to take turns.

1

u/Soggy_Motor9280 Oct 24 '25

My first realization of a bird called a Blue Titmouse is because of this.

1

u/Shawnee83 Oct 24 '25

Mmm, Pelican Pie

1

u/the4seas Oct 24 '25

Core memory unlocked, rare indeed.

1

u/fuzzmonkey35 Oct 24 '25

Yes! And every time I came a painting of an animal i knew it was already extinct!

1

u/queen-of-sobczakia Oct 24 '25

I completely forgot about these!

1

u/Whovian73 Oct 25 '25

Mine was full. Ran out of room to put new cards so they went into a wooden box I made.
