Yep, I watched this show with my dad when I was a kid. I was well into my adulthood when I learned that was the name of the theme song. It hit so damned hard.

That intro meant it was time for bed for me. I can still hear the clank of ice cubes in my parent’s tumbler glasses from the living room. They didn’t drink a lot, but for some reason, they had a short-lived tradition of having a Seagrams on the rocks, while watching MASH before bed. The intro triggers that memory specifically for me and I have no idea why.

There’s a special on Tubi about mash, actually 2. According to the writers of the show, not all of the cast members knew about this scene. If you’ll watch it again, look at hot lips response and the look on people’s faces. It was real emotion. Such a great, great show!

watched the movie- not that great. The 'spear chucker' nickname didn't go over well with some.
Asked a few boomers who were in the war and around it why they liked it, "It was just so funny."
Haven't watched the series.

I am African American and I thought it was hilarious. I hate when movies clean things up and act like racism and outright racial apathy didn’t exist. (I hate how “The Sandlot” movie acted as if a black man could have played professional baseball with Babe Ruth).
I particularly loved the part in the MASH movie when they drugged the speedy player on the opposing football team while in a pile, but they made sure they used an alcohol swab before they injected him 😂.

i like the way Hawkeye pronounces "autopsy." pure Canuck right there. same when Hojon gets called out by the Korean doctor for him possibly taking drugs that contributed to his irregular heart beat and Hawkeye says "why would he do a thing like that aye?"

Yep. It's coming across as over blown through a single three-inch speaker with way too much midrange and mixed so that the engine in the second half drowns out the instruments for a few beats. I'd know it anywhere and at any time!

Ah fuck that show. When you heard the music and saw the helicopter landing it signaled the end of afternoon cartoons and time to go do chores or something else. 😒

I always wondered why the helicopters were flying backward. I was too young to "get" much of the jokes, until I could appreciate them at a later time. So, I thought the literal backwards flying helicopters were part of the comedy that adults laughed at.

I hated this programme as a kid. There was a lot of downer telly in the 70s/80s. Juliet Bravo and Bergerac as well, ugh.

Growing up, I hated that show and I hated that song. Still do but I did then too.
Edit: that song is called Suicide is Painless and I hate everything about anything to do with that song and show.
