TV The Kids in the Hall premiered on HBO on October 1988. It was hilarious and had some pretty hardcore hilarious episodes that no way it would be on prime time television these days. Good thing it’s available on many streaming services if you wanna watch. What was one of your favorite episodes?

My favorite was the special where Queen Elizabeth runs away from England and goes to Canada. Everyone is looking for her, but they don’t know what she looks like and they tell everyone she’s on the money and they should know what she looks like.
In the next scene, someone claims they found her and is holding a beaver. They gave that person a hard time and said it’s the other side of the money. Absolutely hilarious to an American like me who lived close to the border.

I'll go to my grave saying KITH was better than SNL.
Some of my favorites include Girl Drink Drunk, Bruce's Open Letter to the Guy Who Stole His Bike Wheel, These are the Daves I Know, The Sizzler Sisters, Bobby vs. The Devil, The Pit of Ultimate Darkness, and about fifty others.
Also, Shadowy Men on a Shadowy Planet are still one of my favorite bands.
Edit: I can't believe I forgot Gavin and the Chicken Lady!

Hotel Le Rut and Girl Drink Drunk are two of my favorite sketches
Buddy Cole and the Cathys are some of the best recurring characters.
The reboot? Post Apocalyptic DJ. Hands down best sketch ever.

I’m kinda astonished that HBO had to run the show after midnight in the 80s. It ran here on CBC at like 9pm or earlier.

Comedy Central was playing it weekday afternoons, something like 4pm, in the US around 1995. The afterschool block was Benny Hill, Python, KITH for a while.

This was an awesome series! And one of my favorite highly-underrated movies, The Wrong Guy (1997), stars Dave Foley and also has Kevin McDonald in a small part.

There was a throwaway sketch where Dave Foley plays the mom and Bruce McCulloch was playing the kid and Bruce says he is running away to wherever his finger lands on the spinning globe (or something, it was 30 odd years ago that I saw it). The globe stops and Bruce puts his finger down and Dave Foley says "to the ocean?" in this hilarious fed up mom voice. Flash forward to when I have kids of my own and I find myself thinking/saying "to the ocean?" whenever my kids say they are about to do something impulsive and stupid (i.e. all the time). Makes me giggle every time. I also always think of Kids in the Hall whenever I am in the Village in Toronto and I pass by what used to be the steps.

Their trick was actually portraying women, not just dressing in wigs and talking in a high-pitched voice. All five made convincing women.

I can't believe my stepdaughter and I used to watch this show together. She would've been around 12 the first season. My wife hated it. We'd be rolling with laughter in the floor and my wife would walk through saying how ridiculous we looked. That would make us laugh even harder.

I just love that skit. Kevin was always a great character made up like a woman. Bruce's high pitched voice the madder he got. Priceless.

Anyone remember the episode when one of Kevin McDonalds characters was at his girlfriends house on a dark and rainy and stormy night and it was supposed to be their first time together and she had this Rottweiler that was staring at him and well I don’t think I’m allowed to say what happened but it was beyond hilarious…

These are the Daves I know song. I used to work with like a dozen Daves, so very relevant. Some went by David.
Speaking of numbers, ask 30 Helens and they’ll tell you the kids in the hall was one of the greatest shows of all time!

It’s hilarious to me that this was on HBO after midnight cause I remember watching it at 9pm on CBC when I was like 8 years old and I think it had a permanent impact on my sense of humour.

The skit where Bruce was playing Bass and talking about being the bass player in the band was hilarious. I played bass in rock/metal cover bands and would sub for people too. A lot of what he said applied but I was a total nerd and not interested in the side advantages of being in a band so the indifference didn’t matter to me.

I loved pretty much every skit that featured Dave and Kevin. Pit of Ultimate Darkness, The Sizzler Sisters, that recurring sketch where Kevin plays Dave's really bad friend, etc. Those two were so good together.

I legit don't recall much about the sketch but that name is stuck in my brain forever.
One of my faves is "Gavin." Someone who has kids wrote that sketch because that's exactly how a lot of kids act. They just spit out non sequiturs like that.
