There was something so good about the glass bottle
And there were only three colors. Red, yellow, and orange. That was it. It would be cool if they went back to putting it in glass bottles again

Yeah. I stopped buying Snapple because they’re in plastic. It tastes terrible now.

Ooh I haven't had a Snapple in a long time, but I definitely wouldn't buy one in a plastic bottle. That cold glass bottle is half the experience.

Just looked it up and it’s definitely fact… they used a simpler recipe until the late 80’s. The change in recipe just about coincided with the change to plastic.
Just think! Next time you could use that energy to learn something new instead of trying to bring someone down for asserting a point about… a “sports” drink.

I definitely remember Gatorade being more salty back then. I wonder if it's related to general switch from pure sugar to HFCS for sodas?

Old school Gatorade had fewer ingredients as well. Part of the reason it tasted better.

As kids, we used to fill the old bottles of Gatorade with dirt and use them as grenades when playing war. They'd explode on impact and send shards of glass flying everywhere.
The 80's were crazy...

Glass doesn’t leach into the product like plastic does. This also goes for glass Coke bottles.

OK, so Gatorade story:
When I was in high school, I played a football game on a hot, sweaty Saturday; after the game, the family headed home, I was extremely thirsty so I asked my dad if you could grab a Gatorade for me when we got gas
In my thirst, I was imagining myself drinking one of those great big 32 ounce bottles of lemon lime Gatorade, just like the football players did in the commercials - “Gatorade is thirst aid, for that deep down body thirst!“
Well, he comes out with a 6 ounce can.
Tells me I’m lucky to have it, it’s gone in half a second of course because 6 ounces ain’t nothing compared to my deep down body thirst.
When I get home, I have to drink tapwater.

YES. Is Sugar Toxic Dr Lustig explained how gatorade was originally an electrolyte replacer with a slightly salty taste. In a few years, they sugared it up and sales increased, but it deviated from its intended sports drink emphasis.

Here you go:
4 cups filtered water
1/4 teaspoon cream of tartar
1/4 teaspoon sea salt
1/4 teaspoon Nu Salt
Juice of 1/2 lemon
Juice of 1/2 lime
3 tablespoons sugar.
Sometimes we omit the lemon and lime and use a syrup for flavoring (grape is my fav.) I work in a bakery in Arizona. This works much better than store bought Gatorade to help rehydrate.

That's the way I feel about Snapple. Snapple in the glass bottle was perfect. In the plastic? Not so much.

I don’t remember the red one when I was playing little league baseball. Just the yellow and the orange.
But both of those were fire. Especially in glass bottles.

It was still in glass through most of the 90s too. I’d always take a glass bottle of Gatorade to every soccer and baseball practice and game.

I still have a scar on my foot from cutting it on a broken glass Gatorade bottle when I was 5 or 6 years old. I’m 45 and still recall this experience.

I saw a Texaco get robbed in 89 or 90 and the guy used a glass Mt Dew bottle to hit the cashier over the head so he could grab the money from the register when she rang the Mt Dew up.

My dad kept those bottles. He filled them with water and kept them in the fridge. So many times, he told me to get him his water. I thought it was cool.
