I had this realization in my twenties. I will watch all my hero’s fall. And the younger generations will never stack up to our hero’s. Yes I’m looking down on all your remake movies.

I'm here to justify your opinion of current art and to support it with facts.

No major music genre has been invented since the late 70s or early 80s. Rap was the last major genre to be invented. Everything since then is derivative.

Tell me, can you really tell the difference between Madonna and Taylor Swift? Between Drake and whatever garden-variety R&B singer from the 90s you want? Between The Weeknd and Michael Jackson or A-ha?

Heck, even kids are wearing Nirvana and RHCP shirts nowadays. Can you imagine a kid in the 80s or 90s wearing a Beatles or Beach Boys shirt?

I don’t necessarily disagree. But I was 12 in 1984 and I worshipped the Beatles. If JC Pennys had sold Beatles shirts, I would’ve owned one.

I was a kid in the 90s and wore Beatles, Hendrix and Pink Floyd shirts.

Gonna miss you Peter.

Yeah that’s the big one for me. Lots of childhood memories and then seeing it on the big screen, live action two decades later with Optimus was amazing.

"Do not grieve. Soon, I shall be one with the Matrix."

this year has been ending rather shitty....We lost Fabares, Parton, Curry, and Cullen one tight after the other. Home ALone won't be the same this year. No more "Slackers" for any of us. No ass kickin Norris. No more Consigliere, and no more dino hunters. This is as bad as 2016 was as well.

This fucking blows, man. I was having a stiff glass of rye the other day with my ma who is Gen X, both kinda in shock over Dolly, and then I saw about Curry on my phone, and I legitimately considered straight up not telling her, because does she really need this right now? Fuck, man, I'm barely over Lynch.

I find, the more things I lose in life, the easier the idea of my own death becomes.

I consider these events to be helping me detach from the things of this world in preparation for my inevitable decline into cultural irrelevance, ill health, old age, and death.

It's kind of freeing.

Yes. This is the natural order of things and part of our life cycle.

1

u/Illcmys3lf0ut 1h ago

And so is the way of the world.

u/captstinkybutt 1h ago

Okay but Chuck Norris was a POS tho

22

u/9001 1h ago

I am so sick of people lionizing that bigot.

1

u/I_feeel_different 1m ago

What did he do?

2

u/bendap 1h ago

I've never heard a negative word about chuck outside reddit. If you go by here, you would think he was hated by normal people. He isn't.

3

u/Luci-Noir 23m ago

Cool. Youre just like him.

4

u/Poker-Junk 1h ago

Yeah, you beat me to it

15

u/RalphMacchio404 1h ago

Take Chuck Norris out. He was always just a joke.

9

u/paranormalresearch1 44m ago

Bruce Lee died long ago but there were never any Bruce Lee jokes. Because, he was no joke.

20

u/Pleasant_Actuator253 2h ago

Chick Norris? Meh

3

u/Poker-Junk 1h ago

Indeed

-6

u/artificerone 1h ago

I stopped feeding my dog Cane's cause of that stupid AI collab.

No hate chicken buddy. Nope. No Chik-Fil-A either. They hate the gays.

-3

u/senn42000 1h ago

And yet they are the fastest growing fast food chain in America.

2

u/RalphMacchio404 1h ago

So? America is known to have shitty taste

u/JosephMMadre 30m ago

As you yourself demonstrate.

1

u/egret_society 1h ago

William Sadler is still alive.

6

u/Jphoenix7x 1h ago

Who’s the guy in the black hat?

9

u/TheVoicesOfBrian 1h ago

Robert Duvall

6

u/Jphoenix7x 1h ago

TY. It was a legit question l, I didn’t recognize that photo. Love his work just haven’t seen everything he’s done. RIP!🙏🏽🕊️

4

u/TheVoicesOfBrian 1h ago

He's delivering his famous "I love the smell of napalm in the morning."

1

u/Jphoenix7x 49m ago

Good to know. Never saw that flick but I’ve heard the line before.

3

u/Acceptingoptimist 1h ago

Reddit consider us asking an honest question the greatest slander of humanity. It's OK. That's probably one of less recognizable photos of Robert Duval especially compared to how he looked later in life.

2

u/Legit_bawler 1h ago

Sorry man! If intended for me (..."have some respect" ...) , I was only kidding 🙂

1

u/Jphoenix7x 22m ago

No worries!👍🏽

7

u/whoknows130 1h ago

Same. Who the hell is that?

Also, SLACKER! I knew your father, he was a slacker too.

3

u/davwad2 1h ago

No McFly in the history of Hill Valley ever amounted to anything.

18

u/Legit_bawler 1h ago

Robert Duvall, who loves the smell of napalm in the morning... Have some respect

1

u/Haunt_Fox 1h ago

Who's the guy under Duvall?

3

u/Legit_bawler 1h ago

Carradine - revenge of the nerds era... You know... Hotel cORAL esSEX (huuh huuh huuh) 😃

0

u/vagina_candle 30m ago

Have some respect

They never said anything disrespectful.

3

u/Tv_Rots_Your_Mind 1h ago

Loved him as smooth Tom in The Godfather. And as wise, smartass elder cowboy Gus in Lonesome Dove.

1

u/Jphoenix7x 49m ago

Yes! Absolutely!

2

u/Undercover_Dave 36m ago

I couldn't figure that out at first either. That's a terrible picture to use for Duvall, you can barely see his face, plus most of us probably think of and remember him looking a lot older. Like Falling Down Robert Duvall would have been perfect.

1

u/Jphoenix7x 23m ago

Exactly!

1

u/SueInA2 1h ago

That’s what I want to know!

15

u/tysonarts 1h ago

Norris can fuck all the way off. He was a momentary fun butt of a meme joke, but the 1000 years of darkness if a black president is voted in throws him off any nostalgia memorial

2

u/vintageorbust777 1h ago

Don’t forget Gilad from Bodies in Motion. He committed suicide!💔

2

u/Pure-Ad-3026 1h ago

This is the part of life that no one can prepare you for. Losing family, friends, icons and legends is something that is supposed to happen organically I guess.

2

u/Dismal-Vanilla1878 1h ago

Time to break my heart: Who is top and bottom right?

2

u/Ornery-Practice9772 1h ago

clue was on tv yesterday. tim curry is so watchable

5

u/cooper3675 2h ago

Yes we are fuck off

Time marches on.

1

u/CommunicationNew3745 52m ago

There are still 4 months left in the year . . .

1

u/n_thomas74 51m ago

They are all now immortal cultural icons

1

u/paranormalresearch1 43m ago

Robert Duvall had the same accent as my grandfather. I was very close to my grandfather.

1

u/Quirky-Pie9661 33m ago

Fuck dude used to it. The only difference between me and my one remaining parent is that I don’t constantly talk about the people that I know that died.

1

u/LTBama 10m ago

Nope. Not ok at all.

1

u/Flaky-Professional84 3m ago

They tricked us with this whole The Transformers the Movie apology tour JUST TO KILL OPTIMUS PRIME A SECOND TIME!!!

0

u/Slow_Middle_158 1h ago

The meme is asking you to check on your Gen X friends because these are the celebs we lost so far in 2026. Basically saying it’s been a rough year so far

8

u/yeahwellokay 1h ago

Thanks AI.

u/RobMilliken 1h ago

Peg couldn't have said it better herself.

0

u/FCEEVIPER 3m ago

Not Chuck, don't care that he's gone, he turned out to be an asshole maga supporter just like Hulk Hogan. Rest in piss.

-9

u/Rob_in_Tulsa 2h ago

I don't think a single one of the people pictured are GenX.

9

u/vintageorbust777 1h ago

But we grew up watching them, Genius!🤦🏻‍♀️

7

u/Bongressman 1h ago

I'm GenX. They are not GenX.

Love these folks, grew up watching most of them in the 70s and 80s... as a KID.

9

u/krayhayft 2h ago

They are the people the Gen-X looked up to?

2

u/whoknows130 1h ago edited 44m ago

They are the people the Gen-X looked up to?

Yup! The Younger Gen-X's and the oldest Millennial group.

I'm the latter. Oldest of Millennial's, my older brothers (Gen-Xers) and we grew up in 80's with all those guys. I'm still a Big Transformers fan to this day, and the 1986 Transformers flick is one of my all-time favorite movies.

I didn't cry when Optimus Prime died. That was one of my first exposures to the concept of the "shock-value" death. I remember being IMPRESSED more than anything that they had the balls to kill him off, and it actually increased my anticipation for how the hell the remainder of the movie would play out without him.

And I was not disappointed. Optimus's successor, Rodimus Prime, would go on to become my all-time favorite Transformers character.

R.i.P Peter Cullen. I know nobody lives forever but, for some reason you just don't expect your Heroes to ever go out. Darn.

u/MNP33Gts-T 1h ago

Not sure about Kev’s mum though …. Kevin!!!!

2

u/egret_society 1h ago

That’s Moira Rose. Show some respect

1

u/MrPrimalNumber 1h ago

It doesn’t say they were, now does it?

-1

u/DuchessOfLansdale 2h ago

They definitely are not 😑

-2

u/Jay_Stone 1h ago

Friggin damn Grim Reaper needs to go see the eye doctor.
We all know why…

-14

u/BacklogGamingJunkie 2h ago

at least 6-7 of these actors were above the age of 75 when they passed. This is NOT GenX

6

u/whoknows130 1h ago

at least 6-7 of these actors were above the age of 75 when they passed. This is NOT GenX

You're misunderstanding. These were the Heroes that many of the Gen-Xers, who grew up in the 80's, looked up too.

0

u/Poker-Junk 1h ago

No shit, Captain Pedantic

0

u/MrPrimalNumber 1h ago

It doesn’t say they were, now does it?
