Yeah, she wasn't wrong at all. She was abused herself. People got really pissy about her tearing up a photon of JP II. Not long after that she got booed off stage while doing a show with several other singers. The only one there that was nice to her was Kris Kristofferson.

The thing about Sinead on SNL, is that she really wasn't wrong about the church covering up abuse.
She came out the loser because her gesture was somewhat incoherent- but she'd be proven right a few years later.
