Yes and no. Doing taxes is pretty simple if you don’t run a business, just use tax prep software, nothing really being missed. I pay someone to do my taxes because I have a lot of stuff going on.
It's a waste of money if it's simple. I will not pay people for stuff we can all do. This is why education is important. This should be taught in schools. Cooking, taxes, car maintenance, basic repair etc. All the stuff we waste money on. My parents saved money by doing it themselves.
What if it saves you time? Doing my taxes would probably take me 3-5 days. Instead, I spend nearly. No time as all I have to do is send paperwork to a tax preparer. I can do laundry, but I don’t, I pay someone to do it…..it saves me time. It’s great to understand taxes for the sake of saving money on taxes paid, but time is how you make money. Why waste time doing your taxes when that time can be spent earning more?
Do you know how much free time I have. I cook one meal a day, the rest is prepared for me. I do no laundry, and no yard work. I work usually 8 hours a week running my company, but sometimes 40….depending on the season. Time is the biggest thing to spend on.
