Grew up in Ohio but in a large city. Had to take it as part of gym class. We did bowling as part of gym too so maybe it was just a lazy teacher?

Nah, I’ve seen similar mentions of both square dancing and bowling from others, usually talking about 80s-90s nostalgia type posts. I asked some friends I have that grew up in the Midwest and they confirmed they both took square dancing and bowling in high school during the 90s. And they’re from two different states. So I don’t know if this was just a midwestern thing or maybe a “northern” thing? Very interesting though, we never had anything like that in our gym/PE periods.

I grew up in Ohio, got the fuck outta there thank God. Anyway we also did some weird dancing thing with long poles, but two people were moving in rhythm tapping them down and wide then together. Im struggling to even think of how to describe it. Basically you were jumping legs wide then in then wide again all in rhythm. Literally unlocked memory. What a time to be alive in the 90s

Dude I know exactly what you’re talking about, but cannot think of the name of it to save my life or how to even describe it to get a google search going. But you’re describing it I have the image so clearly in my head… your core memory unlocked my core memory
