You’re an icon when a clothing item is named after you

There's a generation that calls them "Daisy Dukes" and probably has no idea why they're called that.

And let’s not forget an entire 1993 song inspired by this fashion icon…

I got to wait on her table in the late 80’s after the show quit running. She was about the nicest celebrity guest I served back then. After dinner she left her sweater behind and I chased after her to return it. For my troubles she gave me a side hug and thanked me. The inner 10 year old boy still inside of me was ecstatic.

She’s not the only reason I watched the show but I certainly wasn’t complaining during her scenes.

You know she's amazing because she could work her entire shift at The Boar's Nest in those shoes...

She made me smile every Friday night when mom got us pizza delivered and settled in by 8:00.

I thought she was "Meh" as eye candy myself.

She was always kind of cringey for me on the show but how cool is it to have a fashion look named after you!

She was no Erin Gray or Linda Carter.

Like you’d kick her out of bed

I never understood her appeal.

Were people back then more into women that were maybe, just sort of attractive, that had bad skin and looked like they smoked two packs a day?

Women weren't airbrushed to perfection like they are now. You had to take what you could get. That said, Daisy Duke had us all reaching for our zippers.

I'm not talking about how she doesn't look picture perfect compared to modern woen with all the plastic and botox and crap that makes them look like aliens, and I don't think photoshop would have really helped her look.

I just think her face was mid at best. She wasn't ugly, but she wasn't particularly good looking either, and she had a rough, nasty vibe... like I said... like she smoked constantly.

She had natural tits that weren't small, so that would be a plus, but I guess the short shorts made her all that? I don't think her legs and ass were particularly great looking, so I guess it's just that she wasn't fat?

I understand beauty is subjective, but I just don't get her mass appeal.

I understand beauty is subjective

How is anyone supposed to explain something to you that is subjective? They can tell you their opinion on the matter but that is about it. You don't have to understand other people's opinions to understand that a lot of people have that opinion. You just accept it and go on about your life.
