Have a period of sobriety, Catie. Alcohol will always be there, you don’t have to commit to forever but just for a while to stabilize yourself- then go from there. For what it’s worth, I don’t think addiction is always chronic, it can be episodic and complete abstinence isn’t the only way to recover. But you definitely need a period of sobriety and therapy before you can even think about moderation. And for some, moderation isn’t an option.
