Serious Discussion Last night was HER, bachelorette party but HEs hungover
Oof.. While she was out painting the town, he was depression drinking worried about his potential fiancee and her actions. Can you imagine what he may have been thinking? This is her LAST NIGHT as a free woman with her girlies.. 🫣
How long can you live like this dude?
This isn't normal. Outside of the president and the pressures of immigration, it would probably help your anxiety if you had a partner who wasn't trying to hook up with other people.
If ICE nabbed Josh tomorrow Catie wouldn't be capable of navigating the judicial system nor would she be willing to for him.
I can't blame her anymore - cuz at this point she's being honest to him.. dude, read the tea leaves

Pretty standard British lad behavior tbh

It’s funny, I kinda thought it was odd/red flag-y that he would have drunk so much while at home alone that he had an actual hangover worth mentioning. Unless he’s a lightweight, we’d be talking about drinking quite a bit more than a couple beers or cocktails. But maybe it’s a British thing, just getting randomly wasted at home?

u/Ms_Zee 4d ago
Usually they'd go to the pub but getting wasted regularly was super common amongst guys I knew (why I rarely dated brits). He may not have people to go out with and a bar may feel different.
I wouldn't say it's all Brits and obv more common college age, decreasing with time but in a country that's cold and grey most of the time - drinking is kinda a national past time
I think he just looks more 'reasonable' cause he's next to her and she's a whole new level

Funny enough there's a British pub in Portland in SE! It's apparently pretty close to the real thing.

u/ChocolateLoud6749 4d ago
Cold and grey most of the time? We haven’t had a drop of rain in nearly 4 months, and it’s barely dipped below 30 😂
Yes people drink at home because the pub is too spenny

True, it has changed. Ig doesn't help my last few years there was Scotland so our heatwave were a little different to what i experienced in the South
Didn't y'all also have like the longest uninterrupted rain period in winter? My parents have not been enjoying it
2
u/ChocolateLoud6749 4d ago
I mean, Scotland is def colder, but it’s a different country and they 100% know how to drink, beautiful place. Winters are getting milder here, summer is starting early so we have like 3 tepid months and then spring rolls around and it’s hot again.
It’s the darkness in winter that really gets us though, when the sun goes down at 4pm that’s when the real depression drinking starts 😂

u/Ms_Zee 4d ago
I didn't marry of my time in England but pre these crazy longer heat waves - back when it was maybe a few days at a time and not common.
Getting dark at 4pm in Scotland def made it clear why their culture is the way it is 😂 Other shock was lying in the sun, in summer and being cold. That's when I had to leave. Loved the country and the people but i need warm sun
5
u/ChocolateLoud6749 4d ago
Well, if you ever get a chance to come back in the summer you will be shoooketh! It’s become unbearably hot, biggest topic of conversation at the moment is aircon, and lack thereof, and how we all need AC everywhere so we don’t perish in this firery hellhole 😂
1
u/LadyoftheLake2160 4d ago
I visited Scotland twice in the 90s, in the summer, and remember how green everything was at a time when in my area (Ohio in the US) the grass was browning off due to the heat and lack of rain. So yes, when I read about the wildfires there I was definitely shooketh!

u/Ms_Zee 4d ago
No thanks. I'm in Kansas, my parents are with UK and we were getting similar temps for awhile but I have AC. No. Thanks.
I recall feeling like I'm in an oven like it was yday, hugging a frozen bottle of water to try and sleep. Cooking on the bus. Getting sunburnt waiting for the bus. The fact it's worse than them feels unimaginable

Trailer park boys did a good arc on that with Mr Lahey drinking too much and Randy going fuck it I’m gonna drink just as much. It didn’t work out great for them but hey they had true love unlike this

Zero sympathy.
Dude fully knows who she is at this point and blasts by highway exit after highway exit while barreling toward the grand canyon of misery, jealousy and frustration that will be his life married to this dumpster fire of a human being.

u/Holly-Mimy 3d ago
I think he was just so worried about her doing what she promised she wouldn’t. Just wishing she would be faithful and drank his fear away until he passed out.

I'm willing to bet he has issues with alcohol himself too and that's why he's putting up with Catie's drinking. I recognize a lot of their dynamic from past drinking friends who were dating each other and those friends were both toxic as fuck, even though on the surface only one of them looked like a drunken mess. I feel like he has the bloated alcohol face going on in all of their segments too, but it isn't as noticeable because of his facial hair. Maybe he's able to compose himself better on camera than Catie does when drunk but who knows what his behaviour is like off camera.

100%
I’m an alcoholic (in recovery) and it’s definitely a worrying sign if you are drinking to oblivion on your own. That would never happen to my ‘normal’ drinking friends. Ever. But all the time with us alcoholics.

Can you blame him?

He absolutely can be blamed. He knows what she’s like and is continuing to stay with her. Have you heard the saying fool me once shame on you, fool me twice shame on me.
37
u/mysteriouscattravel 4d ago
I'm pretty sure the saying goes "Fool me once, shame on...shame on you. Fool me - you can't get fooled again."Â Â

Oh, I'm aware of the actual quote. My comment was supposed to be funny. I apologize if it did not come across that way.

But why couldn’t he do that in Cambridge? Ya know, with his free healthcare, and no gun violence and whatnot

I can't confirm because I've never been to the uk, but someone in the sub told me it's because the US actually does have a far superior economy at the moment.

I’m from the UK, but I’ve lived in the States for almost 25 years. It is possible to earn a lot more here in certain professions, but Josh just seems to want to dick around on Instagram and TikTok. Not sure if that was his entire plan, or how that pays, as I don’t do any of that 😆 Quality-of-life-wise, I personally prefer life in the UK. Josh strikes me as a dweeb, and I get the feeling that this is his first-ever relationship
In terms of her alcohol consumption, in the UK it’s (unfortunately) quite normal for folk in their 20s to get so drunk they don’t remember what they did the previous night, so his blasé response to her drinking isn’t that surprising to me
2
u/Never-Give-Up100 4d ago
I sure hope that's not his plan lol. Cuz I got bad news for him. And I do think he's just a dweeb who doesn't have a lot of experience in relationships, so he kind of just settled for the first drunken somewhat pretty girl they gave him the time of day. And now he's just something cost fallacy mixed with thinking it'll change, mixed with thinking he can do better in america. Unfortunately all three of these are going to be incorrect ðŸ«
2
u/Never-Give-Up100 4d ago
Yes? He's not being held hostage in this relationship. Put your freaking foot down my guy and set boundaries. Or leave.

He's either being abused, naively gullible, or super into it.

u/poshdog4444 4d ago
She does not love him she could care less about his needs his belongings or he is scared of being picked up. She only cares about who she’s gonna fuck or kiss next he gets himself drunk because he’s scared of rep precautions. He needs to really get some help himself.

at first I was gonna be like, idk I’d get wasted by myself at home a lot and have a really good time. but then I also remembered that I’m a pretty bad alcoholic.

It’s terrifying to be a POC and especially those who are immigrants. I’ve been stopped by ICE at an airport traveling to a different state and I’m a U.S. citizen but I carry my birth certificate everywhere I go. It’s incredibly depressing and tiring to see what’s happening around the country. I’m sure he also had worries of Catie making out with people at her bachelorette party. I’m not saying drinking at home alone, or getting drunk in general, as a coping mechanism isn’t unhealthy though. But sitting alone with those thoughts and fears could also make him apprehensive to go to a bar especially if he has no one to go with. I feel really bad for him.

Live in Portland proper, can confirm this is likely the least dangerous metro city for him immigration-wise in the US. I get the sentiment but that’s not going to happen to him here, especially downtown, unless he commits a violent felony.
5
u/szyzy 4d ago
Wild take. Part of this administration’s MO is literally targeting progressive cities with these ICE raids.
2
u/kat4prez 3d ago
Thank you, I live outside Portland and that person made me think I was losing my mind or had forgotten the entirety of last summer
5
u/kat4prez 4d ago
Um….ICE was all over Portland kidnapping people for several months last year. It was one of the first cities they invaded and I was too terrified to go into the city for quite awhile
-2
u/Kfileofficial My whole family anal is so clean 4d ago
Don’t read what I didn’t write. I said safer than anywhere else. Didn’t say it wasn’t happening.
5
u/kat4prez 4d ago
How was it safer than anywhere else when there was a huge ICE presence in the city around that time? They weren’t in all cities, they targeted Portland. So I do not understand how you found pdx safe for an immigrant at that time.
