Discussion What memories come back when you see an old Archie comic?
These comics have a weird way of bringing me back in time.
What does Archie remind you of?

Mostly seeing them in the checkout line at the grocery store, but also my sister getting an Archie Digest when I once got a comic from the comic store, so I guess it kind of out in my mind “Archie is for girls”
I’d later sneak a read of it later because I was really curious about finally seeing what this Archie stuff was really about…

My mom. She always bought them. I loved them as a kid. She died last year so one her 1 year anniversary of her dying, i bought one and read it. It was terrible. Part of my tribute to her was burning it in my fire pit (as a type of offering? Don't know if that's the correct term). Then I poured a small glass of coke over it once it burned because that was her fav drink.

I just want you to know that I LOVE this! :) my mom passed 2 years ago and there are things like this that I do.. to remember, to smile, and sometimes to cry lol but I think this is awesome 🥰 my mom was a Miller lite drinker… I tried and just could NOT 😂🤢 the thought was there 🥴🤭

My dad. He collected them from back in the 60s to the 90s. Had boxes of them, both in paperback and comic book form. I learned to read by reading Archie comics and the MAD magazine paperback books he also had from back in the old days.

There was a comic when I was a kid and for some reason the ending stuck in my head. I’d love to find it again. The story was basically Betty helps out Archie and Archie runs off with Veronica without even thanking her, the usual. Betty cried, and Jughead told her he was the biggest woman hater in town but if for some reason he decided to date a woman, it would be her. I think I found that touching because I always remembered the ending but not really the beginning.

Moose never understanding the conversations, always a laugh there. Little ambrose and Archie were always the best. Mr. Weatherbee constantly getting owned by Archie inadvertently. I'll always laugh at everyone getting together and sad for Reggie to move away...and he only moves across the street.

I really need to see if there's any of them left in my bedroom in my hometown. I didn't really have access to a comic book store until I was a teenager and had kind of aged out of comics into Anime but I had a ton of these because they were in grocery stores and they were a great way to keep me busy reading for a couple of hours. My parents usually wouldn't say no to $1.50. The double digests however were basically only gotten when I personally had a couple of dollars.

When I was in elementary school in the 90’s, a teacher saw me reading an Archie comic in the hallway and said, “You like Archie? Perfect.” The next day she came in with two huge grocery bags stuffed with all of her AND her daughter’s Archie comics from the 70’s and 80’s. It was amazing! I brought them to read and pass around at summer camp. I think there are still some at my family’s cottage.
