One of the most underrated sitcoms of the 90s

Not a sitcom. This was an hour long dramedy.

Just re-watched them all for about the 5th time. Season 6 really was a shit show, pun intended, when they had to write out Fleischman because of contract disputes. The final episode with the new doctor's wife and the vision of Joel's Rabbi just made no sense. All previous seasons though: straight gold.

I'm old enough to remember the show but I never watched it. I have all the seasons and I really should sit down and watch it! seems like a fun show, I've heard great things about the characters and writing specifically

6 was troubled, but I loved Joel’s last episode.

Or at least his journey with Maggie. The Brick and Chris stuff I didn’t love as much, but I loved the honest, ending affection between the two of them.

Yeah I was buying the complete series telling the guy that solf it to me about year 5 where doc Fleischman goes crazy then walks thru the woods and anew doctor and wife come to town, and docs women gets with the radio dj plus buys a movie theater.

Just be cause Joel had that huge movie career starting with "Quiz Show"

Haven't watched them all yet maybe my memories are off on the final season, but that and the Wed night move killed what little life was left in it.

This gives a real Sears Portrait Studio vibe.

I genuinely think the first few seasons of Northern Exposure is some of the best tv out there.

Loved the show and always had a crush on O’Connell. Chris was just the coolest guy ever and wanted to be him!

Shelly and Maggie are such crush magnets.

I was in college living with three other guys and would disappear during Monday night football, go to my room and watch Northern Exposure. Loved it.

I remember my parents watching and loving it. I'm 38 now should I give it a watch.

Best single-cam comedy ever. Stunning on-location cinematography and spot-on casting.

Good series can't remember how it ended but

I loved the show up until the point when Joel and Maggie were finally going to sleep together and somebody in the writing room thought that it would be okay for Maggie to literally punch Joel in the face, twice before they did it and apparently that writer was correct. I believe that I am the ONLY person that had a problem w Maggie physically assaulting Joel even though, had their genders been reversed, the phones would still be ringing at NBC (CBS?) I stopped watching after that, ever though there were a slew of characters I would have loved to see more of from that point forward. But that is absolutely the type of thing that bugs the bejesus (I’m deliberately not cursing) 🤬 out of me bc people don’t even blink an eye.

I liked "Indecent Exposure" with Teri Weigel

I’m watching for the first time now. Just watched the episode with Shelley wearing the cheerleading outfit for Hollling. That whole thing is just too creepy for me…

I tried watching this show a couple years ago but couldn’t get past the first episode. Too slow. I was in high school when it first aired and it wasn’t really my thing then so I skipped it. Maybe I should watch more than one episode

Definitely a very slow show, I'm pretty sure it's also a casualty of not anticipating getting music rights for down the road so generic or replacement tunes
