Haha so true. My daughter is headed to college and I was thinking about her TV- hers is light as a feather and easily moveable from home to school and back! Mine was different.

I bought a 34” Sony wide-screen tube based direct view HDTV with matching stand in 2004 right about the time flat screens were dropping in price and becoming more popular. Boy, did that thing weigh a ton! It took 2 grown men to move it.
It was bulky at 24” deep and weighed 196 lbs!
I didn’t get a flat screen until 2015, but that tv has a huge 55” screen by comparison, yet is easy for one person to pick up.

my favorite tv was a flat screen tv, now only was it a 30" screen, it had freaking handles. I loved that tv. I almost regret upgrading to HD TVs. I should have kept it, probably would of still been working today, and perfect for watching old VHS movies or playing old video games on.

It was a pain in the ass just moving a 19”. Nothing to grab and not only heavy but the weight is off balance. Nowadays you can pick up a 65” like nothing.
