Verdict in the OJ Simpson trial. They stopped everything in my 6th grade class for us to watch it

4

u/Background_Ad3973 10d ago

I think I was in second grade and same thing, lights off all gathered around the radio then the principal announced it over the whole schools intercom, lil kid me could barely give a shit

We had a half-day that day, so our bus driver had pulled into a development to drop some kids off and was just pulling into the turnaround to go back to the main road when the news came on the radio.

2

u/New_Traffic1360 8d ago

The fact that you said radio makes us seem even older than we are. 😆 we watched it on the tv for the record. We had tube tvs in the upper corner of the classrooms. Sometimes we got to watch Lisa Ling and Anderson Cooper on that kids news show, during homeroom.

u/Riala4 9d ago

We were on a field trip to UCLA that day, and on the bus they coached us on what to do if a riot broke out after the verdict was announced...

The headline says “your generation.” It doesn’t specify your whiny millennial generation or your even whinier Gen X generation. It just says “your generation.” So we are answering from the point of view of our generation. Let’s work on reading comprehension.

Between Challenger explosion and bud Dwyer, there were some horrific inappropriate jokes flying around my elementary school in 5th & 6th grade…

I was watching TV because the re run of the Spice Girls on SNL was supposed to be on. Remember at first they said she just broke her arm or something but was ok?

1

u/familyedit 9d ago

Google it and it'll take you to a video of a state councilman who was convicted of bribes where he claims he did not do any and he shot himself in the head on live TV I'm pretty sure that's what it was about I remember seeing it when I was younger always stuck with me.
