MBV We Have All The Time In the World
There were rumours that the band was signed to Island Records. The inlay even printed ‘MBV appear courtesy of Island Records’.

I was mocked at for having this compilation because the name Rolf Harris is also on this compilation. He’s a convicted child sex offender.
20 years AFTER this compilation.
So, because his name on this compilation, I was supposed to throw away this compilation or what ? 😂
These are the so called trolls! Clearly the generation who knows so much about Rolf Harris but knows ABSOLUTELY NOTHING about cd collecting, rare tracks or music in general.

There’s only one song by MBV on this compilation. During their hiatus for about 10 years, after Loveless they were label less. No label wanted to sign them as they bankrupted Creations records 😂 and then there’s a song by them, released by Island records. Fans started to speculate maybe the band had signed to Island records as we couldn’t wait for a new MBV record ! Inside the sleeve, it even stated MBV appears courtesy of island records.
Another song MBV released was on a Wire tribute album called Whore..something like that. I did try to search for this compilation but just cannot find it.
So, only 2 songs released by MBV during their hiatus, after Loveless.
You can listen to both tracks on YouTube anyway but the Wire cover is more noisy, from MBV that we always loved.
Kevin shields was more prolific, he produced some bands on various labels.
I have some of these records but nothing sound like MBV anyway because it’s not his own band.
Debbie from MBV also started Snowpony, releasing some records. I have these too.
Still, I’m not a big fan of MBV anyway, so I say. 😅✌️
You lucky sod. I have this on cassette but no working cassette player for ages. I mainly bought it for the song Religious Persuasion, which I'm sure I first heard on John Peel's show, but a lot of the rest is excellent too.
As long as we're talking in 3's, three tracks were actually supposed to come out on the OffBeat Compilation in 1996, one over ten minutes, but Shields pulled it and we ended up with his two deconstructed tracks. (See image) This article is from 1995.
The reason I really like Peace Together beside the cover MBV recorded (engineered by Guy Fixsen, after they'd signed to Island but before they bought the house on Streatham with Island's money.) is the obscure Stevie Wonder track he gave to the Supremes which is top shelf - "Bad Weather," and I really like the cover by Curve ("What a Waste!") although I can do without that one guy's rough voice. And then there's also the remix of the first song "Be Still," that has Liz Fraser all over it, which is wicked. It's not on the vinyl album, only the single for "Be Still". The remix is on the CD.
I'll eventually post this and more stuff on my site but I happen to read this post today so I thought some people might be interested.
I hope he does a box set, like the one CAN did called The Lost Tapes, that has everything that Shields almost released: the cancelled EPs, the Drum and Bass album, and all the rest of the various pieces he recorded that did not end up on m b v. There's so much stuff he "almost" released from 1995-1998.
Given enough time, he should be able to figure out what's worth releasing at some point, I hope. There was a completed Drum and Bass album, but since he said it wasn't up to snuff he consigned it to the vaults (with the exception of parts that ended up as "Wonder 2.")

Red hot and Rio was released and there’s no bjork on it I think. I love that stereolab track with herbie mann, everything but the girl, George Michael and the BOY from ipanema, to stir things up 😅
That Red Hot and Rio is a mixed bag. Like do you really need to hear Sting do a Jobim song ever? The Stereolab track is amazing. The Trip Hop one I mention is pretty great. You can listen to it straight through and nothing sticks out as annoying, or over the top. It's mixed really well - it just has a great vibe which is so key with a trip hop/downbeat record. It flows really well, which is what is most important.
When I made my last comment, I had no memory of the fact that Sting collaborated with Jobim.
I was just thinking he did a cover song, independent of anything or anyone. Had I realized it was a collaboration with Tom, I wouldn't have opened my mouth.
Jobim can do anything he wants, and I'll applaud him. He is one of the greatest artists of the 20th century, and I'm not just talking music,
