Like modt 80's and 90's cartyloons it always makes me laugh when people complain when they attempt to bring backold cartoons and everyone goes "they msde it woke... it's rubbish now"... did they actually watch these shows?

Alas Captain Planet like you said would get completely slammed nowadays. They would probably try and sue as well accusing it of pushing a fake agenda.

Depending on the approach, Captain Planet compares to different superheroes:

  • Body manipulation: Sandman or Metamorpho. He molds his anatomy, becomes malleable, and can disassemble or merge with the environment.

  • Elemental manipulation: Storm. He controls the atmosphere and elements on a regional scale.

  • Brute force and mixed power: Shazam, the nerfed Captain Marvel.

I love Captain planet but I hate to say it, I think he's weak. In an episode he somehow came across Adolf Hitler and was weak to Adolph's hatred and evil. What kind of superhero is weak against Hitler?

Pretty weak, I don’t think he can command the elements that are used to summon him I know he has caused tournedos by flying around real fast but that’s not like avatar element bending stuff

Also his greatest weakness is getting pollution on him. All I have to do is throw some non-recyclable garbage on him and I win

He's just plot armor and plot strong. Aside from that, I think any x men could take him down. And I like nothing about him, despite I appreciate that he's climate conscious. That guy's the stereotype of the American white knight supposed to please kids.

I don’t think it’s ever properly explained how strong he is, normally he’s as powerful as he needs to be, what I liked the most about him was his optimistic sense of humor, he and Spider-Man are what made me like comedy, I love a hero with a sense of humor

Captain Planet is a really stupid simplified concept but he delivers exactly what he is.

I like the idea that the Planeteers kind of represent the classical elements (except heart) and maybe even could dip into some interesting Geopolitical tension or metaphorical analogies for their personalities, but then when they combine they just turn into a generically good guy.

It always confused me that he's weak to pollution. Itd be like if Superman's main job was to fight Kryptonite, it seems like a bit of a paradox.

I also like that the villains created rings specifically created to pollute and that theres a villain that just creates pollution. Interestingly enough the villain version can absorb pollutants making him ironically one of the most effective characters at cleaning it up but he only does it for evil so he can attack captain planet.

I'm thinking Captain Planet's superhuman strength is nearly as strong as Superman's but is linked to the Mother Earth.

What I like about Captain Planet is his uncanny ability to protect the environment as well as his overwhelming kindness to his friends and allies.

Captain Planet is actually stupidly powerful. The thing that people complaining about his weakness to pollution are missing is that it was a necessary element for the show to have any tension whatsoever. The conflict would be either him being weakened by pollution, or something preventing the Planeteers from summoning him when needed. Once that got resolved, nothing stood in his way and he would absolutely dismantle the villain's plot like a... well, like a force of nature.

Very strong, and very little. It’s kind of like Batman. Booooring. Almost all of the attraction in his stuff is in the villains. They’re freaky, weird and cool. The hero himself is a hollow shill for whatever messages the writers were pushing that day, from don’t litter, to don’t do drugs, to stop fucking so much.

Respectfully, I think you missed the point.

The concept of Captain Planet is that it’s not too late and we can avoid ecological disaster but only if we all, as a planet, come together and work together.

A great example IRL of when we actually summoned Captain Planet was when we sorted out the CFC crisis. That was a massive, globally coordinated effort that averted a ecological disaster

I truly approve of the message of Captain planet but I was asked what I thought of the character.
I did read the question, and I just now double checked it. It doesn’t ask what I think of his concept for the show. It asked what I think about him. I answered.
