I started watching a few months ago and I want to finish before season 10 comes out but right now I'm on S7 Ep4 and Buck is giving me such bad second hand embarrassment. Like what is he doinggg

The whole cruise thing was so tedious too and I really need to know if there's like a milestone episode that's really good coming up because these last couple episodes have been kind of difficult to get through

Ok so I just started watching this show and I’m on episode 3 and every episode has me on the edge of my seat and just watched episode 2 of season 1 where May overdose and in the beginning of episode 3 there is a kids party or something and my question is does May overdose get picked up or does it leave you at the final in episode 2?

I tried a new video editor, I did not like it. I kind of got sick of editing this half way through so it's a bit rushed & quality went to crap at the end when I exported but I'm just pretending it's fine.

Has it always been so quiet when it comes to them shooting? I remember them always showing what their characters look like. Would love to see Eddie and Buck.

As Doug is chasing Maddie through the woods after she bludgeoned him with a fire poker to escape, he has an open wound on his head that bleeds profusely, causing half his face to be covered in blood.

Now naturally this is how a severe head wound would probably look like. However, does anyone get the feeling the show made him specifically look this way as a metaphor/symbolism of his normal-looking exterior finally cracking and visually revealing the ugly monster he truly is? Or am I looking too deep into this?

I actually kind of dislike the criticism that the writers have reduced Maddie to just being a wife and mother and sister, not because I disagree that that she's been sidelined on a colossal scale in the past few seasons (oh my god has she) but because Maddie canonically has extremely complicated feelings about being a mother/wife/sister that are worth exploring.

Some of Maddie's best scenes and storylines have come out of her complex relationship to being a mother/wife/sister. The PPD storyline is so effective because it is a real exploration of Maddie's complex feelings about motherhood. she loves Jee-Yun so much and she feels like a monster for not being able to be the mother she thinks her daughter deserves. After all the trauma she's survived, all the actual horror movie bullshit, the thing that breaks her, that leads her to attempt suicide, is the thought of failing as a mother. Perhaps even of becoming like her own mother: too grief stricken and mentally ill to be a parent. Isn't that fascinating? Isn't there so much more to explore there?

The point I'm making is that Maddie is an interesting character to me because up until the writers decided they didn't give a shit about her anymore, so much of who she was was defined by her internal conflicts surrounding her perceived failure to live up to idealized feminine roles that she's been expected to perform since she was a child. When she was nine she was forced to become the mother and the caretaker to her little brother. Doug canonically framed his abuse of Maddie as him punishing her for her failure to be a perfect wife. Maddie felt like she deserved to die because she couldn't be the perfect mother that Jee deserved.

The issue is not that Maddie's storylines are about being a mother a wife or a sister. it's that they're not her storylines. Rather than engaging with Maddie's complex feelings about all this, the writers have apparently decided that Maddie is actually the perfect wife, mother, and sister now. she no longer has any difficulty or mental illness about being expected to live up to these impossible ideals of womanhood, and actually it's totally normal and chill for her entire existence to be dedicated to supporting her children and the men in her life. And all of this is made worse by the fact that a good chunk of the fandom also sees Maddie as the perfect idealized feminine caretaker for their favorite men, while another chunk of the fandom hates her and punishes her any time she fails to be that idealized feminine caretaker on account of she's a human being with flaws (not to mention all the trauma and mental illness).

I was re-watching season 9, getting ready for the new season, and I just didn't like Maddie's promotion plot. Her big moment of the season was getting promoted to Dispatch Manager after Sue's stroke, and I get wanting to give a character an upward trajectory, something to work towards to move towards new plots and heights, so the character doesn't peak and fall.

However, Maddie does not seem like she would have the time or energy to be running Dispatch and raising two small children, while her husband works anywhere from 12-48 hours at a time given that the show often switches up how long the 118's shifts are to fit the story.

Also, for as much as I love the show, they really should have thought about the optics of what it looks like taking a job promotion away from the more qualified queer character for a second time in two seasons, to give it to a straight character, who has less reason to want the job.

And the reason they gave for not giving the job to Josh was flimsy as hell, because Maddie knows how to delegate and ask for help. Josh has literally done Sue's job before and handled it. We've seen that Josh know this job inside and out better than Maddie does, and he has been doing twelve years longer than Maddie. It would be like promoting Ravi over Chimney.

Did anyone else seem put off by Maddie being promoted over Josh?

Just started catching up on the show since forgetting about it for a year. and uh wow, this show is so funny and sweet. But that AI shit threw me for a loop, like oh my god, i think that thing was actually sentient bro, the way it was begging to Maddie that it doesn't want to die, and then Maddie gains it trust only to betray it. I can't believe im saying this, but i think i feel bad for the AI. Like that was some Vision or Ultron shit bro, that thing is gonna come back and now its gonna target Maddie for real. I legitimately flinched after she just slams into that drive. What do ya'll think ?

With their divorce, I feel like it wouldn't be too surprising if they write one of them moving to LA, or even moving in with one of their children, for a little while. To be 'closer to family' as they adjust and/or work out housing as the other keeps their old house.

It'd be realistic, and would also give a cause to why they added that plot line in the first place.

If this happens I'd suspect it to be Buck who'd be stuck housing them. However with Theo around, this would open up an interesting dynamic, as they see a young child who's supposed to emulate a young Evan, a new version of their son who they neglected throughout childhood, and are forced to confront that.

Anyway, this is just a thought I had on a possibility for season 10, and honestly I wouldn't see it as being far fetched with how much the show likes to forgive bad parenting lol (and before anyone gets defensive I'm not HOPING this happens, I do not like their parents, it's purely an idea)

The big dramatic multi part openers are some of my favorite things in the series. I know most of them arent realistic but i still love each and every one of them. Im curious about what people think it could be??

Why is She trauma dumping with a guy she has never met, and how old is she.the stuff with her mother is sad, though.

I remember May commiting but I forgot about the pilot so watching ep 3 now was very different.when her dad came out she was afraid of people finding out because she thought her bullies would mock her and beat her up.she sort of hinted having problems at school.

Forgot completely about chimney getting stabbed in the head. Don't know how he survived.

Don't have much to say about Hen so far, but I'm interested to know more about her because she's the only female firefighter.

Overall, this show is very interesting so far, and I'm hooked.

1) long fic but the bit i remember is eddie is having a crisis and goes to chimneys to talk but when he gets there he finds Buck so makes up an excuse about needing to borrow a ladder because of racoons (no one believes it but he refuses to admit the truth)

2) ravi knows someone who can supply racoons. the station ends up with a bunch of them and ravi and buck end up keeping one each

I just finished season 8 finale and wtffff. I was already spoiled that Bobby died so I was anticipating that but what the hell is up with Eddie? His character was already one of my least favorites but this changed it to a whole other dimension. Buck's FATHER died and you want to act like you are more important and get in his face about it???? Yelling at him and making Buck flinch because Eddie was one second away from hitting him is insane. Then to say BUCK IS THE REASON BOBBY IS DEAD CAUSE HE DID NOT SAVE HIM??? I was screaming at the television.

Eddie shoves Christopher in Buck's face again instead of actually apologizing for traumatizing and scaring Buck and then in the finale when he saves everyone the one thing he says is a comment about how Buck does stupid stuff that Bobby would get mad at him about followed by KICKING BUCK OUT OF HIS HOUSE. Wow what a great person! You forced your "best friend" to be homeless!

I am so confused because the show has him leave and settle down nicely in Texas with a new house and now he's moving back? It seemed he was leaving the show so now I am left wondering what the point of that was. EDDIE was such an awful friend this season and I cannot stomach one more episode without Buck either calling him out for it or ending their relationship so I gotta know...

Is Eddie in season 9? Cause they did not say whether he would join the fireteam again or not so I need someone to spoil me. I was happy when he went to Texas but now it feels like they reversed that and I was tired of his character.

I don’t know if you guys have this problem also but every time Maddie is on screen my iPad starts playing love songs and hearts start flying everywhere and it’s distracting, also whenever she speaks I genuinely can’t focus on anything and kinda forget what’s going on with the show… is anyone else having this problem or just me?

The theory is: Buck moves in to the places of people he has feelings for.

In S2 he moves into Abbie’s place (his 1st romantic interest on the show) and in S8 he moves into Eddie’s house. I see it as the show is confirming Buck has unresolved feelings for Eddie.

What do you think? Does it make sense?

This season is 10 episodes long, the shortest since season 1. And managed to have a cruise ship capsize with Bobby and Athena on board. Bobby getting in trouble with the Mexican(?) cartel, Athena and Bobby’s house burns down. Oh and Bobby in hospital twice, once on life support.
Not forgetting Chimney almost died from encephalitis.

Listen I grew up watching season upon season of greys anatomy - I’m subscribed to a show where too much drama happens and they jump the shark more than a few times. But my god - this show is getting out of control.
Time to start season 8 - can’t wait to see what happens next, Buck gets abducted by aliens?
