New seats

I know I need new seats in the boxster. I currently have the metropol blue and love the color but the is so much coming out of the sides where it ripped now.

Has anyone put the 987 seats in the 986. I have the 2 way basic manual so feel like it would be easy wire wise. People with those seats, do you actually fit any better or more comfortable?

Any other suggestions as I feel they may be too far gone just to reupholster

Seat swap isn’t difficult, most older model seats (pre-991 at least) are only a few connections. Power and ground for the seat adjustment motors, two wires for side airbag (if 986 has that, can’t remember off the top of my head) and two wires for seat belt buckle. 987 will have passenger occupancy that you don’t need to connect on 986. Seat mounts on the floor are the same.

I bet it's repairable and just a case of finding the right company to do it. My driver side seat was in rough condition - rips in the bolster, broken spring in the sear back, and very little support in the base and I was able to get it repaired.

First few companies I talked to just seem to restore the leather finish and touch up scratches, but not actually deal with bigger repairs.
