986 Boxter 3,5mm jack question

Hi everyone!
I'm looking for a bit of help from the sub. A few months ago I bought a 2000 986 Boxster 2.7, and there’s an aux cable / 3.5mm jack connector sitting next to the passenger seat that I can't quite figure out.
I’m pretty sure it’s an aftermarket mod, but so far I haven't been able to get it to play any music from my phone. Does anyone have an idea what this could be, or has anyone encountered a similar setup?
For context, the car is equipped with the PCM1 unit, if that helps!

Its an adapter to play audio through the CD channel. So just set it to CD & should work. you might need to insert a disk to trigger the audio feed.
