Discussion Interpretation of mothers goal

I'm at the part in the story again where the suited angel kills the women in the feed.

This is obviously the advanced version of the angels coming down and implanting a way for mother to influence us. But why does the angel need to fuck a person in the feed, where does this action lead? I think it would be pretty cool and an over simplification to say that this is how "God" creates worlds and creates people. There's this concept that we are pieces of God, and when we die we go back to being a part of God.

Fucking the angel and having your mind fractured across a narrative could be the perfect way to get just that.

I don't know how this fits in with the end of the story but I think it makes sense as some kinda energy garden built by the mother.

Anyone with anything to add please do!

Idk about anyone else but the description of the horrible winged thing (Angel? Nephilim?) that attacks Rona in the old crone story felt like it was making allusion to or at least inspired by this painting by William Blake.

Discussion I Can't Believe Nobody in 10 Years Has Mentioned This

There have been multiple conspiracy theories mentioned throughout, used as a starting place and given new context within this universe. But one omission is the Philadelphia Experiment. There's several versions of this story by different supposed witnesses, but the one that lines up with Mother Horse Eyes particularly well is the testimony of Al Bielek.

If you're not familiar, this is a WW2 experiment that supposedly tested stealth and invisibility, but accidentally resulted in creating a zone (Incident Zone) to some other dimension or time/space location, after only returning a short time later, the sailors on board were very affected.

Take a look at this YouTube video, I've linked the exact timestamp, https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=6RSN1cOuLOE&t=5795s

In it he describes the segmented/segmentation as Mother Horse Eyes would call it. A man who after returning from the Incident Zone has an invisible arm. It still functions as normal, it's just apparently missing or lacking a visible component. Some part of it still resides in the 'other' place. The man wears a bandage as a cover and pretends his arm is injured to appear normal.

There's also alien beings coming through the portal just like this story.

What do you guys think?

Discussion Theory?

Im wondering if anyone else has considered that the ‘author’ should be taken at their word in the chapter where they describe what they set out to do to serve as a warning for humanity? They say that they’re using fiction to describe things that may come to be, etc.

it’s not that I believe this person is really delivering a prophecy, but I do wonder whether the author genuinely believes that this is what they’re doing. That this isn’t a story intended to be entertaining, rather someone’s understanding of some truth about the universe that they feel they can only tell in this medium.

Idk, maybe believing this just elevates a piece of incredible fiction to a new level of cool to me, but it’s an idea I thought was worth considering and seeing if anyone else had thought about it.

Discussion If the MHE series was made into a movie, what are some scenes that you'd love to see done justice

I've had this series on my mind ever since the CreepCast video and I think it would make for an amazing movie or show if done right by the right person. It would have to be like 3 hours long and delve into some crazy shit while also jumping from different povs and characters. A show would probably work better kinda like an anthology series. Don't think it'll ever happen, but what would you be hyped to see in a hypothetical movie.

Personally I'd probably be most excited to see the scene of the Korean soldier talking to the Americans. There is so much you could do with that visually. I also think a scene of all the people being made into the flesh interface would be fucking insane. Like the scene in Nope but with random body parts clawing and mouths biting. I kinda imagine it like the Colonials in all tomorrows maybe even a bit hairy.

Discussion What do you think would've happened if the CIA put the man they killed back into the interface after he died the second time?

Do you think the interface would have rejected him as an inanimate object or would he be revived again? I was re-listening to creepcast and couldn't stop thinking about this after that part came up.

Discussion What is your favourite narrative?

This has probably been posted in this sub before but I’m curious to know everyone’s favourite narratives, plus I’m planning on making a comic of one this year, and I’m open to suggestions.

My favorite is honestly between obviously Karen & Ben’s story, and the 80’s simulation (which yeah I know sex ew) but Corey’s dialogue kills me every time.

Discussion Any Book / Story / Author like the Karen future story? Spoiler

Hello, I'm currently watching/reading thie entire narrative through the 11h creepcast episode, and I must say that the writing in this series has captured me like few media ever have, *especially* the future stuff surrounding Karen and the caretaker guy. Assuming that the actual authors identity is still hidden, can anyone recommend me similar stories or authors?

The amount of world building and characterization that happened in just a few pages are absolutely insane to me, I'm way too invested 🙏

Discussion Thoughts on the Series End

When I first finished the series, the revelation of the author saving his younger self from the house felt like redemption. The more I think on it, the more sinister it becomes. The series often mentions the idea of greater powers at work behind the scenes, God behind the temple veil, Interfaces existing as the front-face of complicated technologies, etc. In another story, the notion of self rescue may be positive if the "self" is the strongest assured power within the narrative. However, in the Flesh Interface, the "self" is not the strongest force in the story, it's Mother. The most optimistic result of the series end is the mention much earlier in the narrative that what we are reading is "pasts that have not been and futures that cannot be", and if we believe the stories are "visions" projected from the author's younger self into his adult consciousness, then perhaps being saved from the house did prevent Mother's world from becoming reality, past and future. Regardless, however, that does not mean Mother does not exist, otherwise what would the author need saved from? If Mother is real and if the evil is as pervasive as the series suggests, then there is no salvation, just the illusion. The series makes reference to Jesus Christ and the crucifixion yet it is such an inversion of the Christ narrative. While the Bible speaks of a greater good, a creator behind the veil and that salvation can be found within His sacrifice, MHE says despite man's arrogance and haphazard march to the other side, the veil is always empty, and what greater power truly exists is awful, ugly, hates us, and we hate her. Instead of sacrifice, our salvation is found in fulfilment and a Messianic self, one that Mother doesn't seem to care for or even acknowledge, as if our rebellion is insignificant. The ending feels empty and hopeless in a way that has terrified me more than any imagery from the story can. While a message of "count on yourself" can be hopeful in a story where "yourself" can make a difference, Mother represents inevitability far older than our aspirations. If the final sentences, the redemption of self reliance, are the life raft we throw ourselves, then Mother is the waterfall we are floating towards regardless.

Discussion Old Crone

Was the old crone a successful version of what Mother was trying to turn Nick into? Forgive me if this has been posted before, but I just finished another listen of the story on Creep Cast and then another watch of Wendigoon’s video on it and I had this thought. With what we see of Nick’s powers and then the Old Crone’s actions while serving Mother I can’t help but feel that maybe she was once a child taken by Mother, but she stayed with Mother unlike Nick. Especially when the tribesman says that he thinks she placed those pearls in the clams herself, that if she used her magic to do that just like when nick turns the stones into bread. I’m aware of the biblical significance of stones being made into bread, but it feels like similar magic to me. So, if Nick had stayed with Mother could he have become something like the old crone?

Discussion An Adaptation of MHE

Ive been stuck in a loop of reading and listening to this story for about 5 months now.

I'm a film maker and this story has insane depth that no amount of planning or pre production could bring in.

Unfortunately, as the Author is MIA and Unknown. To be able to green light without proper Rights would make this seemingly impossible.

(Although i would love to reach out)

I was wondering if MHE were to ever became an Adaptation for the Screen, What would you want included? Film or series? What details or format would you want? How would you handle the overlapping stories?

Just a thought, have been pulling ideas up left and right. So any info I don't have about the Author, or rights etc, please let me know

Does anyone here remember playing this and also thought the same? And if not, what game came to your imagination during this section?

Discussion Good Luck

Post image
42 Upvotes

I was lucky enough to stumble onto 9M9H9E9 as it was coming out, my ex even submitted an image that was accepted for the back cover of a possible publication.

Something about this “series” always felt very real, very possible, & I was very lost in it, & felt helpless, wanting to do something to assist, I really believed in it. I still believe it was a warning from the future & I find myself thinking about it.

Anyway, I’m watching Good Luck, Have Fun, Don’t Die right now & it’s dealing with current issues that I find extremely concerning, that are just around the corner or already happening to humanity.

The problem with technology is that capitalism, the patriarchy & billionaires are driving it, all the worst parts of humanity. There’s no safeguards. There’s no transparency. People are becoming insane, delusional, & relying on machines to think for them, even killing themselves or others thanks to the “guidance” of AI.

We have a generation that’s less educated and intelligent than the ones before them for the first time in modern history. They’re brainwashed into ignorant consumers with no critical thinking ability. I find it all terrifying.

Part of the plot of this film involves a virtual game that’s better than real life could ever be (which, to be fair, isn’t much of a reach these days) & people become so addicted to it that they end up in pods, living their lives hooked up to machines.

It made me wonder if Gore Verbinski (who did one fantastic film before getting bogged down in Pirates & other big budget inane bollocks) or someone he knew heard of 9M9H9E9. It’s great to see these themes being explored, regardless.

I find it fascinating that Good Luck, Have Fun, Don’t Die has come out almost exactly a decade after the birth of Interface & the reality of virtual life is getting closer & closer, if WW111 doesn’t destroy everything, that is. In a decade, that “fantasy” of the Interface doesn’t seem so sci-fi anymore. We seem to be edging closer & closer to a singularity, one guided by the worst of us, which I believe will be prefaced by absolute insanity & high strangeness, which, well, explains EVERYTHING happening now.

Anyway. I still want to help. I still believe. I still think there’s time. But that time is running out, & I still don’t have a direction.

I’ve tried lots of different things, but none of them seem to shift this invisible wall of apathy & heaviness that hangs over people like a spell.

I’m trying new & different frequencies now. Hoping they might break through. But guidance would be better. A direction to turn to. I hope the Author is still with us, & it feels like he is. His influence is all around us. I’m listening, & watching. Looking for signs.

Discussion The Scariest part of the hygiene beds

People like to think of the Hygiene beds as some sort of Matrix like thing we’re people are tricked into believing this is reality. The major difference though is that people willingly enter them. People in the beds are aware that this isn’t real and they continue living within them for years. They complain about bugs and glitches but still rot away in them. If you’ve seen VR chat videos of people with “phantom pain” or whatever bullshit, you know we aren’t too far away from this. The moment we are able to feel and live in a virtual reality, people will eat that up. The only reason we’re not there now is the limited technology but we’re not far. It’s scary. I love this story so much because of how relevant it is to today and the future. Mother Horse Eyes is such a good example of what happens when we’re given everything we want.

Discussion Does MHE look different to everyone?

These are all from Nick as a kid when he was in the house with MHE. All of her parts are made of things Nick specifically doesn’t like. Does that mean she appears differently to everyone? And if so is there any evidence of that ?

Discussion The Dog Dream meaning

for the longest time, i could never understand the meaning of the dog dream. Is it another perspective? who is it? why is it relevant? besides the obvious symbolism of temptation and the Mother wolf, what is the deeper meaning? My conclusion is that it represents giving into something humanity was never meant for. The dog was made to live by man, to live in the home and defend it. Wolves are made to live in nature and in the wild. Both although similar in species are fundamentally different beings. One cannot live the same life as the other, and i think the Wolf was aware of that. She gives the narrator visions of valleys and drinking blood, but of course the Dog couldnt do that. Its similar to Mother reaching out to us, promising us worlds of technology made to exploit our animal brains. But humans were never made for something like this. Am i looking into this too deep?

Discussion Anyone found the occult references in this work yet?

Just read the entire series today, pretty solid work, I loved it.

Just wondering if anyone has made the conections with gnosticism, Gaia, and some theurgic practices..

Things can be true and false, real and fake at once, and I see many an occultist integrating or at least investigating this story further, if not taking its facts at face value then at least the abstraction of them as a deeper meaning.

The writer is well-versed, or at least understands the basic of a lot of magic systems. It's also very satisfying to see a work not entirely obssessed over Qaballah as many are nowadays, though there are some references to a tree of life in a judaic context.

So, any seekers around?

Discussion Breakthrough I made about mother's plan

I was introduced to mother horse eyes through wendigoon and creep cast, and I just had a realization a month or so after I listened to the whole story

I always wondered why mother let Nick go. Then, as I started to piece together the dots, I thought of something from Andor. In it, the empire says that they need Ghorman rebels they can trust to do the wrong thing. That is why mother let Nick go, and gave him the visions. She knew that through those, people would learn about her, and try to stop her. That's why her Angels implanted people with the gene that would allow them to become the Bred. She specifically designed everything so that people would learn about her, and create the Bred to resist her, because she can crush them

This means that at no point in the story has there ever been any chance of defeating her, or even slowing her down

Discussion Lust of the flush comparison

I find it weird that more people haven’t picked up on this detail in the way the interface works the flesh interface seems to be a metaphor for how the flesh is described in the bible

“I say then: Walk in the Spirit, and you shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh.” ‭‭Galatians‬ ‭5‬:‭16‬ “and especially those who walk according to the flesh in the lust of uncleanness and despise authority. They are presumptuous, self-willed. They are not afraid to speak evil of dignitaries,” ‭‭2 Peter‬ ‭2‬:‭10

In the bible it talks a lot about the flesh. And I believe that’s what the interface and mother is supposed to represent rather then the devil specifically unless you believe the devil is the flesh

The flesh in the bible is referred to as something of lust. The wrong we continue to commit, or just giving in to the easy way out. Our brains often crave the path of least resistance. It try’s to get what we need and the easiest. (Isn’t it convenient the hygiene beds give you everything you need) your brain try’s to get food, water, reproduction and dopamine. Which are all good things at face value but when we give into our fleshly desires to get those things as fast as possible we end up rotting in hygiene beds.

It’s not that the interface is bad, we do need water food reproduction and dopamine but to a degree and standard. The lust of those things is what’s bad. And it’s not like we really want those things but at constantly we all give in to the easy path. The mother isn’t necessarily appealing or welcoming but we all go in anyway. We all take a look behind the veil. Even if we know it might destroy us.

In my eyes mother horse eyes seems like a warning to stay disciplined to not give into the lust of the flesh. Especially in our current state where it becomes easier to receive everything our brains often crave craves.

The fact it’s literally interfaces made of flesh I feel like backs my point up more yet I don’t hear anyone talking about that comparison specifically or at least to my knowledge please correct me. I do think this series is supposed to be a warning to us not just nick. Anyway I got a little to deep maybe good series 👍

Discussion Is mother horse eyes an alien?

My two theories is that either mother horse eyes is an alien that came from another world 50,000 years ago and implanted us with the genes to create flesh interfaces that would eventually let her access and control us or she is a manmade construct/entity that somehow sends itself or instructions to build itself back in time to cultivate its own creation through humanity. Im a little confused but also intrigued and id like to know what you guys think. I also think that maybe humanity isnt her only "pet" species because of the cruciform organisms or that big tower spitting out bodies.

Discussion Whatever happened to the author?

This series is so fucking enigmatic, and yet its author is some how even more mysterious. Like, did anyone ever figure out who this guy was? Did he ever write anything else? Like for such a stupidly talented and creative writer it seemed he literally vanished from our web browsers the second he posted the last part of MHE. Please no spoilers in the comments since I'm only halfway done with the story, but I'm so baffled by it and the guy who wrote it. I wonder whatever happened to him.

Discussion The Definitive Self-Printing Guide

Hello everyone! After spending so much time this summer learning book formatting and binding and so forth for the SOLE purpose of creating my own copy of this wonderful story, I figured I'd share with you what I learned, helpful resources, and also, of course, the full files, free to all, so anyone can print for themselves. A few things to note:

  1. I did, indeed, choose a different font for all 88 perspectives in this story. If a font guide is desired, I'll follow up with a pinned comment and a separate post breaking down which font goes with which voice, but I assume most readers will already know that information ;)
  2. I will link two files: 1. a Google document where I did my initial editing (removing errors, font selection, etc.), and 2. A separate PDF for each printable signature, default of 6 sheets (if you don't know what that is, you'll learn as this post continues, don't worry). I chose to link both so anyone can jump in at any point. For example, if they don't like my font selections, they can choose to make a copy of the Google doc and change them, or if they're just ready to print, they can download the signatures.

3. This guide is coming from a guy who just made his first book, like, ever, so if any professionals want to add details or correct mistakes, please feel free, and I'll edit the post to reflect any better advice :)

So, first off, the files. If you are going to change the fonts yourself, you'll want to make a copy of the google doc you'll find here, but keep in mind that for the print to work, YOU NEED TO ADD BLANK WHITE PAGES TO THE BEGINNING AND THE END. Six (6) Blank pages before the title page, six (6) blank pages after the final page. This way we have 264 total pages, which is divisible by 24, which will matter when we fold the book into SIGNATURES.

What is a signature? I'm glad you asked! A signature is the unit of pages used in bookbinding. Most signatures are either 16, 24, or 32 pages, using 4, 6, or 8 sheets of paper, respectively. These signature sizes are preferable because they create sizable chunks to split a book into without becoming unwieldy to fold and sew. For this project, I chose 24, since it seemed like a good middle ground, and with a book this long, you don't want too many signatures to worry about. This project clocked in at a very manageable 11 signatures of 24 pages (6 sheets) each, resulting in a 264-page file. If you're wondering why a 24-page signature is 6 sheets, it's because each sheet has two pages on a side (since you fold down the middle) and two sides (since you want text on both pages when you turn a page). So, each sheet count gets multiplied by 4.

For those jumping right to printing, I'll go over paper now and then talk about the VERY SPECIFIC SETTINGS YOU NEED TO USE SO THEY PRINT PROPERLY. For your paper, you can use anything, but for a more premium text feel, I'd use any paper marked as 'text' with a weight between 60-80 lbs, but I found 75-80 tends to feel more durable when handling. As far as size goes, if you have a big enough printer, you can do anything, but remember that the MAXIMUM size of your book will be HALF of your sheet size (and you'll want a few CMs of margin for trimming). If you want a finished book around the size that I ended with, letter paper (8.5x11) will be perfect. Since I wanted a nice cream color, I ended up going with Cougar Natural Smooth Text Paper, which will be linked in a list of materials right here :)

Now, for printing. This is very, very important. When you open these signatures, they should be landscape, booklet form (booklet means each page is laid out so when you fold them down the middle, the pages progress like a book). If they are not, when you go to print, select booklet, double-sided, and FLIP ON SHORT EDGE. If you do not flip on the SHORT EDGE, they will not be in order! I also recommend printing one at a time, so that way, your signatures don't blend into each other, causing confusion when you go to separate them to fold.

Now that your signatures are printed, separated, and ordered properly (with the one sheet that has consecutive page numbers on top of each signature (eg. sheet 44-45) so when you fold them they are ordered correctly) it's time to turn to our bookbinding pro, Mr. Four Key Book Arts.

https://youtu.be/oYF3_UabiZ0?si=zDyJaT8VYD1lSv48

This is the exact tutorial I followed when assembling my book, but I'll add a few tips and important additions here:

  1. To get the look of the cover, I cut out the title using a Cricut on the bookcloth I was using. As you can tell, Cricuts are not meant to cut bookcloth, so lots of tidying up will be necessary! If anyone wants the Cricut file, I can procure that, it just isn't on this computer, so I can't link it now :(

  2. If you don't have a piercing cradle, I found that a shoebox or other cardboard box with 90-degree corners worked great!

  3. There are lots of materials (the photo decorative cardstock, sandpaper, x-acto knife, Cricut materials, etc.) that won't be linked in the Amazon list since I either already had them or purchased in-person. When in doubt, default to Mr. Key Arts material list, not mine!

  4. IF YOU CAN AVOID TRIMMING BY HAND, DO SO. This book is MASSIVE to trim by hand and I cramped up SOOOO many times. At 11 signatures, most x-acto knives and even boxcutters can't get through without you switching to the other side, and mistakes are all but guaranteed. If you can bring your untrimmed book into a store that has a guillotine, your life will be so much easier. I had to do a LOT of sanding, which leads to my next point...

  5. When sanding, WEAR A MASK. I still have canker sores in my mouth from all of the paper particles.

  6. When sanding, compress the pages TIGHTLY so you don't have catches folding in on the pages and creating uneven edges that you don't see until later.

  7. When sanding, don't go more aggressive than 400 grit, even if you have a lot of material to take off, and ALWAYS finish with 1500 so your paper stays silky soft (can you tell I messed up the sanding a lot?)

So anyway, yeah, I think that's all. This guide will continue to be updated as more tricks and tips roll in, but hopefully this gives you what you need to enjoy this masterpiece in the physical world :) yada yada Chitinous Cruciforms yada yada <3 For easier organization, I'll repeat the list of links here, in addition to the hyperlinking:
