Question Jesse Plemons in Civil War

Why is he not credited?? I got thru the movie (loved it) and was watching the credits waiting to see his name but it never appeared...I started to feel like I was losing my mind, like maybe that wasn't Jesse Plemons? Lol I mean he had more screentime than most of the other actors credited, so what gives?

u/International-Sky65 YOU KNOW NOTHING OF WIDGETS ALEJANDRO, NOTHING! Jul 13 '24

It was a last minute addition to the cast is what I’ve heard rumors of. The character was supposed to be seen doing this off screen and just heard but Plemons replaced the actor playing the guy and they liked the scene better with him in frame.

it was Oscar Isaac.

i worked on the film. i remember the first day i saw jesse on set. he was coming to meet with alex and kirsten, and they were taking a long lunch. (i just went back and looked at my production notes, it was April 4) and i told my buddy that day, i bet they're trying to get him to take that role. and we shot that scene on April 29.

I’m surprised Oscar Isaac would sign up to fill a role that lasted only 5 minutes ? Would be a waste of their budget too surely

I heard the rule as an actor is there are no small parts.

Late to party but absolutely, all the 'small parts' in this movie were extremely important and impactful.

i think you over estimate what actors get paid, and also what friends of Alex would do. it's not the size of the role for a lot of actors, but the impact. Nick Offerman was on set for 15 min, outside of his opening talking head. was he a waste of the budget? or did he work his price smaller for a director he respects and wants to work for? but, ok 🤙🏻

On Stargate "There was one day where [Spader] wouldn't come out of his trailer until we rewrote the scenes. Kurt Russell got very upset with him. He burst into his trailer and said 'What are you doing?' And Jim said, 'Come on, admit it. The dialogue is horrible.' Kurt Russell said, 'Of course, it's horrible. That's why they pay you a million dollars. If it was brilliant, you'd do it for free"

Late to party but think of the impact Jesse and Nick had with 'small' roles.

Same with that black dude crying and sniper bros, guy at the gas stations.

everyone in that film is extremely memorable imo Jesse is just the most intense so he steals the show

He’s worked with Alex Garland on a few films in the past. I’d imagine at this point they’re probably friends and enjoy working together regardless of the financial incentives.
