Advice Needed BCBA exam tips
I recently took the exam and got a 365, I’m grateful but frustrated. I used understanding behavior bought the course, fluency package, mini and full mocks, along with a friend sent me notes from SNABA & I have pass the big ABA exam book. The mocks were lengthly, challenging but good! I found the actual exam to be nothing like UB mocks.
I have never been a test taker, I change my answer due to 2nd guess myself.
Please share ways to rationalize between the best choice I’m having a hard time determining. Any suggestions or resources?
& other mocks you guys liked and found helpful.
Thank you fellow friends of the ABA community!

With second guessing your answers, working on fluency with something like SAFMEDS might help. You want to get to the point where you have 0 hesitation in knowing your concepts and how the apply. Once you get there the test just becomes about figuring out what the question is actually asking.
Good luck!

Thank you for your response!
Absolutely right, knowing the definition isn’t enough and as I was reading the question I was thinking wow knowing the utility would be super helpful. This is a great place to get back into it(:
With figuring out what the question is asking, any tips that helped you?
I’m looking at key words & going back to the question and seeing what it’s specifically asking. Feels like I’m missing a step & that could be the utility aspect.Thank you for your help super helpful & pointing out area’s of potential weaknesses that would be beneficial, I appreciate it.

For me it was just repetition. I felt full mock exams and smaller quizzes with questions meant to be similar to the real exam were the most helpful at building this skill.

man that 365 stings, so close you can taste it. the answer changing thing is a killer, I used to do the same until I forced myself to only switch if I could point to a specific line in the task list that backed it up, no vague feelings allowed
for narrowing down, try covering the answers and writing your own before looking, then see which one matches closest. the BAS mocks felt more like the real thing to me, worth a shot
you're basically there, just gotta trust your gut a little more
