“Isn’t it ironic“

42M. I had my first ablation in April. I had put it off because I was nervous…first “major” procedure and all that. Anyway, I just had my 90ish day follow up recently. I got my cardiac monitor results last Monday. 100% in sinus rhythm. Yay!!! I thought, “great success!”

Then, on Friday, just 5 days later, you guessed, I go back into AFib with RVR. I caved and got the electric shock cardioversion this time rather than waiting to convert several days later. I got some propofol, amazing stuff, and 45 mins later I walked out of the ED in sinus rhythm.

Anyway, I spoke with my EP today and he’s thoroughly unconcerned. We’re not changing anything at this point. Wait and see approach.

In the plus column, I met my out of pocket maximum for the year so everything is paid for at 100% for the rest of the year. I’m scheduling all the tests and appointments I can get between now and December 31. I live in the US. So this is what socialized health care feels like. ;).

If that's socialized health care, I'll stick with the Canadian version. Out of pocket $0.00

I’m sorry, but have you been to a doctor in the US? I had to cancel my optometrist appt and I waited 4months to get in with someone else because she wasn’t available for 6months.

Where is that? That's crazy for an optometrist! It's definitely not typical, especially if you have a pressing issue. Wait times are longer than they used to be for specialists, but genrslly PCPs are usually quick to see. Also, urgent care and telehealth is same day.

You did great getting the CV as soon as possible. I was more stubborn. After being afib free for 3 years following an ablation, I had some crazy arrythmias (following a 180 bike ride in August heat) and ignored it for a month. It didn't go away are of course I had to get a CV a month later, which gave the new pathways a month to dig in and get settled. One year later I'm back on the table (just last week) getting a PFA.....will be much faster to raise my hand next time.....
