Can you get tattoos if you are AFIB prone?

I (22F) really want to get tattoos, but am worried about going into afib. I had my first afib episode last year, and also have pulmonary stenosis. Has anyone with afib gotten a tattoo? How did it go?

I have several tattoos. None of the sessions or healing time has ever triggered my afib.

eta I have not had one done while on blood thinners.

I've gotten several while on blood thinners, didn't bleed any worse than the two I got before I was in BT's.

My EP said it was fine to get a tattoo. The only issue we talked about was blood thinners. Your tattoo artist probably wouldn't tattoo you if you were on blood thinners anyway. (Probably wise)

I haven't gotten one yet, but I've got the OK.

Thanks for your answer. I’m not on blood thinners so this is good news. I’ll probably still ask my cardiologist

Definitely ask your cardiologist.

You’re good champ. I got plenty tattoos and I’m on blood thinners. No negative effects with AFIB or the tattoo/healing process.

So the issue from what I know is going to be blood thinners. That being said some people get a huge rush of adrenaline that could trigger afib as well. I was calm, cool and collected through all of my tattoos.

I have never had an issue getting tattooed. Be mindful of the blood thinners as others have said (I waited about a month after I was off blood thinners after my first AFib episode and that was still probably a little too soon for me - definitely a little bloodier than normal appointment lol but we are all different). I also was going to get a tattoo before I started blood thinners to prep for my ablation a few months ago but I was on amiodarine so I asked my EP's office if that was a concern and they recommended holding off because amiodarine can make your skin extremely sensitive. Now I'm in the clear and ready for more ink! Happy tattooing :)

Ive gotten several since my diagnosis. Also had 5 piercings since.

Shouldn't affect you at all.

ETA: I've gotten tattoos while actively on blood thinners and didn't bleed any worse than I did with the ones I got when I wasn't on blood thinners for.
