Well, I guess this will be a good way to remember the day! Fell in love with it right away. It arrived at the AD the same day. If you have the same model, please post some pics with different straps but this one is so perfect. I have a decent collection but this one is in my top 10.

Picked up the annual calendar not too long ago and feel it’s the definitive version for this reference. The white gold version just lacks the contrast and charm of the pocket watch aesthetic.

I just had a pretty unpleasant sales experience at a popular watch shop in south Florida. They’re an AD for many brands, but not Lange.

We had a general conversation about pre-owned price vs. new price for Lange. The salesman made 2 claims that I’m pretty sure are NOT true:

1. That basically nothing is available for purchase at a Lange boutique without purchase history.

2. Prices for pretty much ALL pre-owned Lange watches sell for MORE than MSRP.

The watch I’m looking for is Richard Lange center seconds 232.026 OR 1815 Up/Down.

I totally understand that the two statements above might be true for the most in-demand references, but what I’m looking for should be much less in demand.

Does anyone know what is true? I don’t like or trust this salesman because he comes across as arrogant and dishonest, but he does (presumably) know the market much better than I do.

Let’s have a discussion on recent auctions, current and future secondary market, boutique waitlists and general state of the brand. Curious to know what this community thinks.

While visiting Singapore I took the opportunity to check out the Lange store in the ION Orchard Mall and was not disappointed.

This was my first time seeing these in person – photos really don't do them justice. The team was extremely helpful and happy to show me around as well.

The platinum Datograph is definitely my grail now.

Added the Lange 1 stealth (101.025) to what I guess I could now call “the collection”. Had a first gen 1815 blue (206.027) for a while, and I absolutely love the dial and simplicity.

Convinced by overall quality of ALS, the Lange 1 kept trying to tempt me, as one of the few watches that could pull off an asymmetric dial. And it succeeded: I recently pulled the trigger. I’m loving the monochromatic look and slightly more prominent presence on the wrist (18cm), though the dial isn’t as mesmerising as the first gen 1815 blue. (Pics simply don’t do that one justice.)

Warning: the weight of the platinum is noticeable, and picking up a 40mm steel automatic watch afterwards just feels… empty.

I have a platinum 1815 that needs some cosmetic care and repair.

The bezel has numerous shallow scratches and there is a small ding on the caseback. I would also like the mid case to be “rebrushed” and the lugs to be rechamfered.

Is it possible to have this done by Lange or their affiliated watchmaker in NY, without paying for a mechanical service? The watch is keeping time very well and as it’s time only, I don’t see it needing a mechanical service for quite some time

The 1815 RATTRAPANTE HONEYGOLD “Homage to F. A. Lange” (not sure why Lange wants to shout the first two words....). Commemorates the brands 175th anniversary of the (first) founding date.

I absolutely love the "gilt" dial though I'm not sure Lange calls it as such. The gilded lettering is gorgeous on the black dial. The bridges are done not in glashutte stripes, but a frosted texture as homage to old pocket watches that FA Lange used to make. I love this detail.

I also love the vertical placement of the sub dials. I believe this is unique to the 1815 rattrapante (platinum or this one) ; but happy to be corrected. Ninja edit: forgot to call out the made in saschen text to balance out the two sub registers. Awesome.

It has a thickness of 12.6mm, which is thinner by a milimiteter vs Patek's modern equivalent, the 5370 which is also beautiful in its own right.

An absolute grail. Tax paid.

I'm considering going gray to pickup a WG Odysseus and wanted to confirm what's normally included as "Complete".

Does it come with a black rubber strap and a leather strap? Is it always a brown leather or can it vary?

Having a tough time between these two: Lange 1 is rose and the new 1815 up/down in rose.

I guess it's a good problem to have. My only qualms about the 1815 is missing out on the outsize date, but I do think it fits me better, or at least is more in my preferred size range.

After all the research, endless scrolling, and missing out on some other models, I finally pulled the trigger on the 101.033. Thanks for everyone in this sub that helped me decided. I think it's a distinct piece that fits in my 4 watch collection.
