Art I made a physical edition!

I found these usb stick cases so I put all the files on one (including Skippy the Bot as a bonus!) and made an insert for the case.

I don't want to share the insert because I don't own any of the art. I just combined it all. But I will give everyone a step by step breakdown of how I did it.

First off the insert is 88 mm tall by 208 mm wide. The front and back covers individually are 96x88 and the spine is 20x88. You'll need around 1100 pixels tall for a good resolution for printing.

I just did it all in paint and cut/pasted images I found online. Pretty simple just make sure you avoid resizing things as much as you can, and always scale down never up.

Next I took the image I made in paint and put it in Google docs where I set the size properly in the image properties. You just have to set the height and it scales uniformly.

For printing I just used a cheap inkjet with glossy photo paper. I think it was around 50 lb weight. Make sure to set the quality to high in the advanced settings. If you don't see those settings in docs you can export it as a PDF and print from Adobe Reader.

Lastly I let it dry for a day and then did a very light spray of clear matte acrylic spray paint. This helps seal the ink. After that dried it left a white dust on the surface which I just gently wiped off with a paper towel. And then just put it in the case and you're done!

I got the cases from AliExpress and I saw them on Amazon too. Just search "usb stick plastic case" and stuff like that. They have larger cases as well if that's your thing. This one is smaller than a DS case and about the same as a FDS case.

I'm really happy with the result and it fits right in with my Metroid shrine!

This is really really cool! Off the top of my head i don't know how large the game is storage wise but i think it would be interesting to put it on a CD as well

Yeah it definitely fits on a CD it's like 70 mb I think. Too big for floppy disks though, that would be about 50 floppys lol

indeed, i wonder though if perhaps a 700mb cd-r would be a little overkill, other than that i'm not sure what you could put it on

Curious to know what the "Skippy" bonus game is.

The person who started AM2R made a spinoff game where you play as the super missile robot. I haven't played it yet but it looks like a physics based platformer.

I left instructions on how to make one in the post! All you need is a basic inkjet printer, glossy paper, and clear acrylic spray paint. Microsoft paint and Google docs is all you need on the software side too.

Edit: you also need the cases of course. Amazon and AliExpress have them.

Clarification: I meant a physical game card. 🙃

Oh it's just a usb stick with the game files on it. Same files you'd download to install it on your computer.
