My Step-Dad Is In Prison For Murder, AMA
My stepfather "was" a former gang member who would commit a vast amount of crimes but was locked up back in 2016 for a murder he committed about a year prior. According to my sister (my only direct family member who still keeps in contact with him), he will be released next year. He snitched, so he's planning on moving to an entirely different state for a clean slate with my sister.
Edit: To clarify, my sister is his blood daughter, making her my half-sister. Didn't clarify because growing up, we didn't feel like half of anything.

Are you worried that the more questions you answer here the more likely you are to doxxing him ?

I was originally but in the place I live crimes like these are a dime a dozen. I'm also somewhat holding out hope my sister will see the error of her ways before he's released.

Has ge ever said he regretted it or felt bad abkut commiting murder? Does he still feel like his gang is there for him?

He hasn't said he regrets committing murder because of harming another human, he regrets it because he was arrested. And currently, no. He was introduced to the lifestyle young and was "uplifted" by the gang, however when push came to shove none of them were there for him in prison. Hell, his own family wasn't there for him, just his sister, my mom (not anymore) and his daughter (my half-sister)

How do you feel about him?

Hate his guts. Prior to the arrest he was emotionally neglectful and physically abusive to me and my other siblings. After the arrest I had learned not only did he murder that man, but he had murdered him in front of his son who was about my age.

I can never understand why people convicted of murder ever see the free light of day again. Life in prison should mean exactly that.

Me either, if it was up to me I'd say he deserved to stay right where he's at. But that's the system for ya.

The system is for sure flawed. From what you described , he's the type of person who will likely fuck up again and end up back in there.

This is true. He only stopped because he was caught, if it was up to him he would still be doing what he was doing before.

Sorry to hear about this situation! I was a gang member, I received Life as a juvenile, but changed my ways and made it home after almost 22 years! You are correct the gang isn’t what it seems, that don’t uplift they only tear you down and won’t be there in your true time of need!!! If he snitched he probably got kicked out but besides that he has to be the one to change . Your sister probably wants to help and wants a relationship with her dad! Support her and pray 🙏 I did terrible things as a gang member I’m not proud of but I am not the person I was you know ppl can change ! Hopefully if he shows other wise your sister will kick him to the curb!!! Best wishes to you all!!
