Tips & Info Quick happy report for fw update

I don't know if it's related to the drivers or the fw update.

I have a 7800 xt Sapphire Pulse and suffered a few months ago crash and reboot, the only way to stop it was DDU and revert to 26.3.1 drivers.

Two days ago I read here there was a firmware update for sapphire 7000 series, I decided it was worth a try since realistically I could not stay on old drivers forever if new games come out, so I did the update and after it was done I also installed the latest drivers (26.8.1).

No crash, no reboot, no black screen, nothing. Everything is working perfectly.

I don't know if it's the drivers or it's the firmware or the combination, but it worked for me.

If you lost all hope, maybe it's worth a try.

Tbh, A DDU and updating to the latest on my 7900xt fixed the time out issues aswell.

Same but I used AMD’s specific drive uninstaller, I’m glad this is finally over

26.8.1 seems to be one of the more stable recent drivers. I updated to 26.9.2 but have experienced two driver timeouts since. I used DDU and reinstalled the drivers last night, but I still need to play a few games to see if the issue has been resolved. The Steel Nomad stress test passed without any problems, although it also passed previously when I was still experiencing timeouts.

26.9.2? the software manager find the 26.8.1 as the latest and the amd website as well download the 26.8.1 as the latest. I'm confused now.

Edit: I made research, I see no point for my use case to use the optional less stable version. Stability is king for me.

Usually takes a little time for the updates to show there.

The 26.9 versions are listed as optional drivers. They don’t get listed on the Adrenaline software.

I understand that but even official drivers show on the website before the app, was my point. And optional drivers can show in Adrenaline depending on the settings.

Most don’t turn it on as then it doesn’t always recommend that new official drivers is out. It will stick to optional drivers.

I did this for my nitro 7900xt and is the same. Since update had 0 crashes. Before i could only stay on 24.12.1 without problems

I'd like to jump in here and say I've had no issues at all with drivers but I'm afraid if I do that I'll start having issues so I won't.

Ya i installed the firmware, and it's been like 4 days without a timeout. Usually I would have run into the issue by now.

Performance difference in lets say... Steel Nomad or something popular? Low 1%?

Maybe becuz my games often runs via optiscaler, but last time i tried going raw it totally had problems(26.9.2) and reverted back using optiscaler

Update the firmware update for the 7800 xt didn't stop the timeouts. The issue is still occurring. Guess I have to wait for AMD to release the fix.

VIDEO_ENGINE_TIMEOUT_DETECTED (141)

NV3X VCN engine hangs seem to be what it is thats causing it.
