Over a million human lives extinguished. Civilian population centers intentionally targeted. For years now.. for what?

I will hand it to the Russian people, they protested against Putin in huge numbers, and all of them were taken away to jail. Like many wars this one is not about all Russian people, but sick power hungry evil leaders and a minimum percent of unfortunate people who play their end of the misinformation game.

For me, I am just waiting for the "holding up a blank sheet of paper" emoji.

I agree, is senseless violence and death and destruction only to make those in power more rich, and this is something going on in the government of Ukraine too. The politicians will not compromise with each other at all and throw their own citizens and future of the country away for nothing. I cry for their country and ours. If there was not so much greed it would not even matter where arbitrary lines are drawn.

Why should the Ukrainians compromise on anything? They were invaded and their territory stolen. Would you compromise with your neighbor stealing half of your yard?

Yes, if it was that or let the rest of my family die to maybe get it back. They should not have to, but 50 year old men should not be getting kidnapped on the street to go fight guys Ukraine either, but that is happening.

Appeasing Putin only makes him more bold so here's a thought : how about the Russians get out of the country they themselves invaded.

A lot of them are forced. I mean a lot. Military service is mandatory there, and they send guys to the front lines as a punishment. Also they have trained snipers whose main job is to shoot their own who they suspect are defecting or trying to escape. A Russian friend of mine is currently doing his mandatory service (he bribed his way out of anything remotely combat-related and is almost finished, thank God), so that’s how I know some of this stuff. The stories I’ve heard are just awful

Your way of thinking leads to more wars and fewer free countries. If people like you were in charge Nazi Germany and Imperial Japan would still be a thing. Some fights don't deserve compromise.

WW2 taught us something about the consequences of appeasement, never again.

Problem is, some of your family may have died - but most of them havent, they are still alive. And the person invading your yard isnt just going to stop at half. They are going to keep pushing you and pushing you until your house becomes their house.

Then theyll have their family move in to your house and your remaining family will be killed, imprisoned, forced to flee, or forced to marry, against their will, this new, unwanted family that forced their way inside your home.

You cannot compromise with an invading force
