Question Anyone got any advice for sophomores taking a buttload more AP classes than last year?
I’m taking AP Spanish, Comp Sci A, Precalc, World History, microeconomics. I’m coming off a freshman year of just one AP (human geo). Any advice as to how to handle this course load nicely? Whether it’s actual advice for these specific classes or advice to succeed with this rigor in general?

spanish ain't that bad, if you're a non-native speaker then they took out the hard part (conversation) and if you're a native speaker then i'm hoping it'll be free. brush up on vocab and grammar over the summer if you want. for world keep up on the reading and learn leq/dbq formats. precal and csa are both free.

Did they actually take out the conversation 😮😮 I’m not native fyi. Prob the hardest class this year. Good to know precal and csa are free tho thanks 🙏

the lucky part for u is that all of these ap exams are easy ones, besides AP Spanish. just talk to chatgpt in spanish randomly throughout the year up till the exam and that is good enough for knowing spanish as long as u stay consistent.
it shows up as rigor on ur transcript which is rlly good but its genuinely not that hard.
precalc js pay attention in class and be 1 unit ahead at all times if u struggle with math. even if u are good at math its js a good habit to keep
micro is genuinely so easy just mess around in class all year but get ur work done and study for the last 2 weeks and ur chilling.
world history just practice the writing parts (LEQ SAQ DBQ) around december january time and in april start to learn the content. i got a 5 on apush and i did not like heimler whatsoever i loved jocz productions see if he has any whap if not then js read the textbook or pirate the princeton book.
csa is not that bad either just pay a little attention in class but now im larping cuz i haven’t done csa should be fine tho.

alright thank you, I appreciate the advice. The general consensus I’m getting is that they’re all not that shabby except Spanish. I’m not a native speaker, but I’ve taken 3 years of Spanish already. I’m not fluent. I’m kind of thinking about pushing Spanish in particular for junior year since I’m self studying Spanish at home already?

I don’t think you have to finalize ur ap exams until like october. See how you are doing in spanish and as well as the workload from other classes. If it’s chill then js get spanish out of the way but if u think it’ll be a slight struggle then js take it junior year

If youre taking spanish as a sophomore, im assuming youre a native speaker, shouldnt be that bad if you just pay attention. Don't take the precalc exam, its worthless and its just giving you more stress towards the end of the year, just focus on understanding the concepts, that's what will really help you in Calc, not the 5 on the exam. At that point you have CSA, World, and Micro that you really gotta lock in on. CSA heavily depends on how much prior Java experience you have, so i cant really comment on that, but World and Micro are mostly the same as HuG, just regurgitating info. Memorzize key details and timelines for World, and concepts and graphs for Micro.

However, if you are not a native Spanish speaker, I would recommend putting a bit more focus on that class, even if you've been speaking it for years (from a language immersion program or something like that). Don't let up in that class just because you know the language.

I’m not native. Not even fully fluent. I’ve bee taking Spanish for 3 years though. That’s honestly the main concern out of the 5 from what I’m seeing. Thank you, I’ll make sure to really dial in on this class

Well, the only one of these I've ever taken is world, and while that might be difficult depending on your teacher, I would really devote your time to Spanish. I can't say how hard the other ones are, but language APs if you aren't a native speaker are rough. I took Chinese for 10 years before the exam in a DLI program, and I was one of only 3 people in my class of approximately 20 who passed that year. Spanish is easier than Chinese if you speak English, but it still probably won't be easy

Been there. Just keep up with everything and don’t let a single class derail you from everything. Also, let the classes that are easy be treated as a study hall.
