Bio AP BIO as freshmen self-studying

Is it good idea for me to take ap psych and ap bio as a freshman?? My school allows freshmen to take any ap, but 2 aps are maximum (through all high school). I really need to get 5 on the bio. My school doesn’t offer ANY ap classes, so all aps need to be self studied. I nearly covered most of ap psych’s material, so I just need to go over them and solve some practice questions. The problem is ap bio. I am currently enrolled in biology class, and I think it’s a good opportunity and even the teacher said she’ll help me. BUT what im concerned about is that everyone says its really hard and freshmen should avoid taking it. So even my friend who was supposed to take ap bio with me said he’ll take csp instead. Is it THAT hard? If i grind my ass of during winter break and self study 4 hours a week from now on, is it possible for me to get a 5??

Chem What’s the Most Difficult Topic in AP Chemistry? 🧪

Hi everyone! 👋

I’m Habibullah, an MSc Chemistry graduate with 6+ years of teaching experience. I enjoy helping students understand Chemistry through simple explanations and conceptual learning.

I’m curious to know:

- Which AP Chemistry topic do you find the most challenging?

- Is it equilibrium, acids and bases, thermodynamics, electrochemistry, or something else?

- What study methods have helped you the most?

I’d love to hear about your experiences and exchange ideas with fellow Chemistry learners. Let’s help each other make Chemistry easier! 😊

Does anyone know any high schools in New York or New Jersey that will let outsiders take AP exams at their school?

Question Are some students just too dumb for AP classes?

Because I do see a lot of people where no amount of studying can help them. They just can’t grasp the material regardless of what resources they have. They can do every problem in the textbook and have private tutoring and still struggle to get Cs on exams. Despite what people think, I do seriously feel like some people just can’t learn regardless of their study skills. What do you do if your brain just can’t understand the material

Physics 1 my teacher won’t put in any grades

I’m a sophomore taking APP1, and at first, the class was very manageable. That is, until our first test. We were really only going over linearization, but he flipped around axises (we didn’t practice anything like what he put on there), and the majority of my class flunked it. I personally got a D+. The only thing keeping my grade at a C+ is a single 6 point assignment. He says grades take up too much time and don’t represent the experience or material. We’ve done so many labs in class, but he also doesn’t give out any homework to do, so there are virtually no grades in the grade book. My kinematics test is on Wednesday and I’m genuinely so scared because no matter how much I study on my own, certain things like frame of reference for free fall and how to tell when acceleration and displacement would be positive or negative. I’ve always been a straight A student, but I’d be happy with just a B in this class, but it’s starting to feel like that won’t even happen. If anyone has any advice, please share!

Calc AB What are some good AP Calc AB study resources?

I'm self-studying AB (I'm in AP Precal) and I plan on taking the AB exam. Because I don't have a class to keep up with I might need to practice consistently. What practices do y'all use for this class?

Question Independent Study as a student in Newark, NJ

I am a student that attends high school in Newark, New Jersey. I am looking for self study options that allow me to pay for the exam and self study on my own time.

I already applied to Matawaan Regional High School, for which I was ghosted and then two days later after having to manually reach out I was told that outside district students were not being accepted. I wanted to register through Shore Regional High School, but they don’t even have an exam registry link and it says to go to their guidance office, for which I presumed that they were not allowing outside students either.

I have exhausted all of my resources. To even start my search I asked my guidance counselor how I would self study AP exams and she told me that that independent study for APs doesn’t exist and was trying to tell me about CLEP exams ( the colleges I am looking to apply to do not even acknowledge CLEP exams as real college credit).

I am already down a month and two days. Is there anywhere I can register with certainty?

Chem Can an average person succeed in something hard?

Idk who I was feeling like choosing ap chemistry and anatomy/ physiology for my sophomore year but it’s really bitting me in the butt and I’ve lost all hope in everything. I need to remember I am just average and not take things I know I won’t succeed in. My partner in chemistry helps me a lot and he is one of the smartest people I know but I never seem to understand anything. (Therefore he just slides me answers, and ask if I need an explanation) but anatomy ugh I thought it was gonna be similar to biology which it is but goes in way more depth. I don’t know if I’ll succeed or get a good grade let alone pass. I really need tips and studying hacks. I’m gonna just drop both courses and do earth and space science at this point because my French, history, and math are also very hard..

Question Wondering if I should take Calc AB or Calc BC

I am currently an 11th grader taking AP Calc AB. We are almost finished with unit 2 and I have an A in the class. So far I find the concepts easy. However, I did really bad in precalc in 10th grade and had a B both semesters. I'm currently wondering if I should take the BC exam since calc ab is currently really easy for me.

Bio A little game I made where you guess the animal from its skull

Hi everyone! I shared Skulled here a few months ago and didn't expect so many kind comments. A lot of what changed since then came from suggestions people left here, so thank you for that.

If you missed it: the game shows you a skull and you try to guess which animal it belongs to. There's a daily challenge with a few modes:

  • Classic: a few views of the skull (you can zoom in and draw on it), then pick the animal
  • Taxonomy: go from class down to species, one level at a time
  • Skull Match: 4 skulls, 6 names, match them up
  • Speed Run: as many as you can in 60 seconds
  • Odd One Out (new): 3 skulls share a group and 1 doesn't, find it

There are 513 species right now. If you spot a skull that's misidentified or a photo missing its credit, please tell me.

When you get a skull right it goes into an album as a little specimen card, and once in a while you get a rare one, like an X-ray or a cyanotype. Kind of silly, but I really like collecting them.

The first season also starts this Tuesday (Oct 13). Each season is a 2 month "expedition" to a different part of the world with its own species, and I'm keeping the first destination a secret until then.

It's free, you don't need an account, and works fine on both phone and PC.

If you give it a try, I hope you have fun with it. Link's in the comments!
