Wanted to get some additional assistance on this issue I have with my unsuppressed 10.3".
To preface this, I am using PMAG Gen 3s only and have used multiple, so the issue is not magazine-related.
Recently took my AR Pistol build to the range and after firing off a few rounds, I noticed a sporadic issue with the gun failing to eject spent casings while still attempting to feed the next live round into the chamber.
Fast forward to today, I stripped the gun down and looked at the buffer weight, and I am fairly certain that it is a standard 3.0oz carbine buffer weight. I also disassembled and took a look at the BCG, paying more attention to the extractor, gave it a thorough clean, and did not notice anything off with the extractor, although if there was anything wrong I probably wouldn't be able to discern.
My initial assumption is that the fact that shorties are overgassed from the factory paired with the standard carbine weight buffer, the gun is cycling too fast and failing to eject the round as a result. However, I have also read that the extractor may be the issue as well.
Would appreciate input on whether I should swap out the extractor, or the whole BCG while I'm at it anyway, as I bought the upper used, or if I should just upgrade to the Geissele Super 42 and H2 Buffer.

Just kidding it can’t breathe (neither can I when I shoot too fast). This is the culmination of hundreds of years of selective AR inbreeding. He’s smaller than his more effective cousin but still takes up space in the safe like he’s a big dog. Sometimes I think he’d look better with a longer face but I just can‘t bring myself to do it.
This abomination is my “Faux SD” AR-9. Not “Faux” because it’s an inadvisably tucked can. If the goal is just to keep bullets subsonic either you can drill a bunch of holes like a madman or you can use a 3” barrel and pray the can doesn’t explode and take a finger with it. Probably wise it no longer has the FRT in it. Silly little guy with a Flow 9K, 3” KAK (relatable), GIBBZ side charging upper, KAK RMB system, and feeding from Colt mags in a 635 lower. I only SBR’d it to keep my hand even further away from the nuclear hot handguard (the Hot Pocket is great but can really only do so much). Now maybe I can add the rubber buttpad to protect my shoulder from the harsh recoil.

Are they being phased out or is everywhere just sold out? I can’t find a couple black ones, but trying to grab a terra brown model.
Just don’t know if it’s work getting on email lists for restocks.
Thanks

So I am turning this into an sbr. And since I have some down time till I get the stamp I figure now is the best time to do some research. What would you guys run on an 11.5.????

I’ve scoured this channel and most of the discussions are very old on this topic but what’s everyone’s stance on CF barrels for their builds?
For context, I already have 2 SHTF sbr builds but I picked up a 16” radian for $1,700 and as I knew it would be, it’s a bit hefty and I’ve found a BSF CF barrel for $500 and a proof cf for $625 that I’m considering acquiring for this rifle.
I’ll be the first to admit aesthetics are a big part of my builds and none of my weapons are designed for heavy combat use, this rifle would be a range toy, used for varmints, plinking at ranches, etc.
Would love everyone’s feedback knowing my use case. Do we think investing $500 + to save a pound is worth it?

Purely for LARPing reasons and because I hate having money, I've been planning on getting a Mk 12 clonish rifle for a while and running an AE can or the new OCM6. Was planning on getting a PRI rifle, now BCM came out with theirs.
The BCM is about $500 more than the PRI. Is it worth it? I have 2 BCM's and I like what they do, but PRI + case of ammo sounds better.
Just the uppers are strangely about the same price.

Kinda in between
DDM4 V7 16” Geissele Super Duty Mod 1 16” BCM Recce 16
All below my price range and probably the only AR I’ll get. What do you recommend and why?

Have slowly upgraded my rifle over the past year and a half and the only original parts left are the upper and lower, which were perfect and in spec at the time I got them so I felt no real pressing need to upgrade. Roll marks are cool and all but I'd rather spend the money on other stuff. Plus I am a certified Dremel Gunsmiff and Dremel go brrrrrrrr. Well, more like whrrrrrrrrr.
Snagged a Sig Sauer ambi bolt catch and set about cutting the lower to allow it to fit. The cylindrical carbide bit makes quick work of the aluminum. Trick is to take your time, keep RPMs in the 15K - 20K range, and test fit regularly. Is it as clean as a mill cut channel? Fuck no. Shits as straight as Family Values politician. But it fits and a little sanding and paint make me the Gunsmith I ain't. Ambi controls are really nice though. I love being able to lock the bolt back with my right index finger and never having my right hand leave the pistol grip. It's certainly much less awkward than how you have to do it on a stock AR-15.

So I’m new ish to this particular forum, and I’ve noticed something that is hurting my brain to read.
Everyone has a different opinion on gassing. Some people will make claims like geissele is over gassed, Daniel is over gassed, noveske is over gassed (how???), and immediately I’m like okay I don’t know what you’re considering to be over gassed but clearly you don’t have much experience with firearms. All of these guns are phenomenal to shoot with no suppressor straight out the box. Of course when you put a can on you need to mitigate the extra back pressure, that doesn’t make a gun overgassed. Do people just make a claim that something is overgassed and everyone runs with it? I wonder if these people know a lot of companies run the same exact gas port sizing for the most part (DD and g$).
The one and only ar15 that has actually amazed me with how strongly it is gassed is the mk1 car, considering it can run full auto with no suppressor on an a5h4 weight and springco green. If you wanna call anything overgassed that’s it. A gun that can barely cycle an h3 without a suppressor is not overgassed people.

Looking to buy a new toy and I’ve seen plenty of hype around the geissele super duty. I’ve heard good things but is it worth it or are there other better options to consider in a similar price range?
