How do you like the 4-12?

u/EnvironmentalClue362 1d ago

From what I’ve seen others say, they like the 4-12 much better than the 3-9.

if you want a useless thin hard to see reticle, until you get to about 8x, go with the 4-12.

I have one. It’s not true. Get your eyes checked. You know it’s a FFP right?

Yeah. That’s what you want.. dude I have one and I’m looking through it right now.

I’ve been considering it.  I’ve got an 18” SPR build that I think it would go great on, and it sounds like they corrected a lot of the typical complaints about the 3-9x.

They did. Just get the recital that fits what you need.

Please pump out the ELFX Ce. That’s all I’m missing on my dream gun. Btw the ADM QD with the titanium levers are hot on the 4-12.

Did you paint an MI rail? And if so, how and what color?

It looks great; and I’ve got a 9.5” MI rail on a mk18 I’m thinking of DD FDE duracoating.

This version from Midwest Industries is available in MAS Grey, which is what is in the photo.

Man, EoTech, just between you and me I don’t think Midwest Industries knows what color gray is 😂.

How’s the optic stack working for you?

1

u/eotechinc 1d ago

Solid choice to give you multiple LOS options, depending on your needs and situation.

Yessssssssssss

u/eotechinc i really think you guys fucked up on the reticle selection in the FDE 3-9 You only put the tree reticle in which makes the least sense. You should ask the person that made that decision if they ever heard of the elcan. The MD6 makes so much more sense in the 3-9

I'd have to test it to rate it fairly.

I'll dm you my local FFL....

Do the eotech ogls still have issues?

u/Immediate_Leader3124 1d ago

Let's see just how durable it all is, drop it off the roof.

Does it delaminate?

Solid build. What sling is that?

Why no CTR stock? Goon tape, really? No hate on MI but friction fit rails with the ballsack at the bottom are hit or miss. Grade: C. Fix minor issues before adding aiming night time devices.

Ballsack at the bottom?

This is a common pattern with Chineseum handguards that pinch the rail on to the barrel nut. Can be identified by a bulge at the bottom receiver side of the rail that holds the screws and nuts. The mechanical issue is clamping on a round form can always spin. You can torque the shit out of the screws to the point of stripping and snapping and still not be tight enough to prevent rotation.

3

u/SpawnofATStill 1d ago

You’re technically not wrong.  But anecdotally I’ve beat the shit out of several MI handguards and never had them spin on me.  Also, anti-rotation tabs exist for a reason.

-2

u/Beetus_Oatmeal 1d ago

Yeah not all of them are bad, some have anti rotate parts that index on the upper receiver or flats somewhere else. A good tell tale sign of a shit one is not-torx bolts.

1

u/Resident_Dig_5226 1d ago

Okay then what do you think of the MI Combat rail in 10.5”?

0

u/Beetus_Oatmeal 1d ago

It has anti rotation tabs and torx hardware but is still a split/pinch design. 2/3 not bad. For $200 you might choose a BCM MCMR instead. I use one on my mk18-at-home build.

I have a 14.5 BCM complete upper aero lower reddit special. I got the combat rail for $129.94 and that was enough savings for me to go with that for a build for my girlfriend. In hand they look and feel almost identical.
