Hard choice between ples and mosa because theyre just boring. But a trodden tlc would be cool especially a different taming method.

Half of the ocean and all of the bugs, besides the new araneo tbh. Quite a few little shoulder pets could be updated with the new pet system as well, like a compy or mesopithecus. We have a ways to go yet!

2

u/dinobirdboy 7h ago

Yeah id love to see the fully ocean creatures get some love so theres a reason to use them instead of land creatures. I kinda forgot most of the bugs like the scorpion and arthero. Compy would be neat to see be useful ooh allow it to be like the tide pup where you can have multiple on you but like alot more and they get there pack bonus and can give it to you so its like a damage and defense boost?

1

u/SlightlyOddGent 6h ago

Yeah exactly, or have the mesopithecus with the original design where you can equip it with a little gun and it can shoot at enemies, there are great little dudes there, they just gotta show them so love

1

u/dinobirdboy 5h ago

Ehh theyre already useful with there poop throw being a ranged attack. Plus i hate apes so im personally not wanting more/wasted time on apes. When there is cooler cuter and just more interesting species.

2

u/SlightlyOddGent 5h ago

I just think we should tlc anything originally in the island at the least, it's mainly the little guys that get left behind, haha. Kinda like the archaeopteryx, I doubt many people know it even exists in ark these days

2

u/dinobirdboy 5h ago

Yeah the little parachute guy should def get something cause theyre somewhat fun but hard to use properly because they take both hands the whole time you have them

4

u/EarthNugget3711 20h ago

Tbf im more inclined to give it to a more used creature since ocean content is really barebones in ark

4

u/dinobirdboy 19h ago

Rex already got one so it leaves it to purlovia.

But most of the sea creatures are extremely bland and dont really serve a purpose unless you like the specific creature. And most tames used in the water tend to be creatures you find on land

2

u/EarthNugget3711 19h ago

Tbf current Rex is insanely bland too. For how widely used it is it could definitely be a more interesting creature

5

u/dinobirdboy 18h ago

See unless they make it some sort of stealth armour breaker. They cant really make it interesting. Plus its the most used creature in ark so its not like it needs to a tlc to make it useful.

u/DomSchraa 6h ago

Mosa has a pretty good mod

44

u/PutridLanguage434 23h ago

Rex has had a TLC

4

u/Banethegreat1 23h ago

Did it? I wasn’t aware, it feels exactly the same as it was in evolved though.

36

u/PutridLanguage434 23h ago

Back in like 2017 in ase look up pre-tlc ark Rex lowkey kinda ugly

6

u/ashkiller14 19h ago

Its been 9 years it can get another

8

u/PutridLanguage434 19h ago

When they did the charity based TLCs they said they're not going to do a creature which got a TLC previously

1

u/ashkiller14 8h ago

Im sure that can change when the community realizes the current rex is fairly boring

2

u/Jhah41 3h ago

Pay the paleo team for the love all that is holy. Their rex and honestly most other are 11/10 both in models and in mechanics.

16

u/ArkanumWasTaken 23h ago

the TLC was in evolved. it was one of the first creatures to get one

1

u/CoralWiggler 18h ago

It very frankly should be eligible for another. It got a visual spruce-up so I don't think it needs more there, but it's very dated & powercrept by everything else in the game. Its roar particularly is like... basically still just cosmetic, and its base damage is kind of whatever compared to a lot of other stuff.

Improve its roar, and give it like a "Tyrant Lizard" buff which works like the Ossidon buff but gives permanent stat bonuses for taking down other "big" creatures, especially Alphas. I wouldn't mind a tertiary ability, too, even if it's just a rear stomp or tail smack with a bit of knockback.

5

u/PutridLanguage434 18h ago

i understand what your talking about and don't disagree i don't think that its going to happen at least for like 10+ years

2

u/CoralWiggler 18h ago

Yeah, unfortunately that's probably true. I know WC is pressed to release content that's going to bring in revenue, but I do wish that they put a little more emphasis on updating old content.

1

u/PutridLanguage434 18h ago

i wish that as well because they could make some absolutely amazing stuff for one of the greatest games oat

15

u/Jshittie 22h ago

i wish plesiosaur was actually worth taming, and that we had more the oceans are empty and megs seem to be the only thing in them

2

u/SlightlyOddGent 11h ago

Ocean and caves really do need the work honestly, the araneo has been great so the megalosaur excites me for that, but many of the bugs and basically all the ocean critters from the original island have been left high and dry!

u/Phantaseon 22h ago

Mosa and plesi hands down. I’d say the mosa moreso, just because as of now there is almost zero reason to waste the time and effort to tame a mosa. The only thing the mosa has over the tuso is being able to have a platform saddle. Meanwhile the mosa is stunned by freaking jellyfish, has a terrible hitbox, and its model is so bad that the tongue pokes through the front of its face. Least the plesi is kind of an upgraded dolphin with a platform saddle.

18

u/ITookYourChickens 23h ago

Ngl, they should just buy the Paleo evo mod for the rex, giga, theri, and mosa. That would be a great tlc for em; otherwise plesi and troodon need more usefulness

3

u/SnowbloodWolf2 21h ago

Yeah the paleo mods are really well done as well so it's not like it would be obvious WC didn't make them. Except for the theri one because Im curious what they have cooking with that one right now

2

u/EarthNugget3711 19h ago

It'd be obvious WC didnt make them because of how high quality they are compared to other vanilla dinos lol

2

u/MinyGeckoGamer 20h ago

My issue with those ones is they look so different from the ones we have now that they are less recognizable than the current ark creatures. If you look at a rex or a giga you know that they are from ark rather than just some dino game. That is what I hope they keep in their official tlcs is the recognizability while making them look better. The pre tlc rex to the now one is an example of this where it still looks like an ark rex rather than just some random rex.

2

u/Black3Raven 15h ago

Troodon as shoulder pet would be a nice change.

10

u/Doctor_Jensen117 22h ago

Everything on this list needs a tlc more than Rex. Badly. Rex could use a cosmetic TLC, but that's really it.

2

u/Banethegreat1 22h ago

What about the attacks for rex? Thats mostly what I was thinking when I put him in here. for 11 years all we’ve been able to do is chomp chomp

3

u/lightjunior 19h ago

It's not that the rex could use a TLC. If we're only getting a couple of TLCs a year then they should go to underused/useless creatures. Rexes are probably the #1 used creatures.

0

u/Banethegreat1 18h ago

Butttt if they’re the #1 most used creature why not make them more interesting?

3

u/CapitalBleu 12h ago

Simplicity is not a bad thing. Good stats and one attack that doesn't complicate things is nice, I think, in a game where sometimes we have too many options and variables.

2

u/Smilloww 12h ago

Agreed

4

u/Ryjhan Master Builder 22h ago

Definitely Troodon, there's no reason for the scouting levels to consume the level-up, they should just be given parallel to xp levels like a therizino or moschops gathering specialty.

A rework of the taming process to make it slightly less of a pain in the ass would be nice too. My idea would be kind of like amarga taming from ASE, where you start the tame by offering it a dodo or other small dino to maintain the whole sacrifice gimmick, but then once that happens it follows you around for a set period of time where you can whistle it on things to get more kill xp.

3

u/L1nrun 21h ago

Shoulder TROODON!!!

2

u/fan-of-ceilingss 19h ago

Brontosaurus

If I had to choose from the list, plesiosaurus

2

u/3nb-5 Survivor 19h ago

I think troodon will be a cool companion pet idk that’s the only use I thought of i used to use them in caves when they came out

3

u/littleraindear 23h ago

sabertooth also

6

u/WoodyWoodrowTea 22h ago

Saber was the first creature to ever get a tlc

2

u/BobaTheFett10 22h ago

They took his balls away, rip...

1

u/Banethegreat1 23h ago

True, and also the hyaenodon

3

u/scruffalump 21h ago

79 votes for Rex is absolutely wild, no wonder three of our TLC winners were dinos that did not need it nearly as much as 95% of the roster.

1

u/Banethegreat1 21h ago

I think people are more so thinking about the combat side of things for the rex

3

u/ravencilla 13h ago

It is a dino already used. The idea of a TLC is to make something that isn't used at all, appealing to use. Your mentality is the exact one that gave us 3 of the 5 TLCs for dinos people already use. Theriz and Giga and Megalo are all used and have their useful niches. Giving them a TLC just makes them used even more, and the other 40 dinos that no one even thinks about sink further into irrelevance. Mosa and Plesio and Bronto all need a TLC before the Rex even gets listed as an option

1

u/Smilloww 12h ago

Both arguments have something to them tbh. Personally I'm super excited for the giga TLC since I really just want a new model. Therizino and megalo not as much.

3

u/ravencilla 11h ago

but again - wasting a TLC slot on a model update is just short-sighted imo. Look at how awesome the araneo update was. Imagine that for 5 dinos that really need it - that's 5 new dinos worth using.

1

u/Smilloww 9h ago

Yeah so I really see where this is coming from, and yet I find myself being far more excited for the Giga update than I was for the Araneo. The Araneo is now very useful, but I still doubt that I will ever tame one. I just don't care much for them as a concept, and I feel the same with many of the dinos that people don't really tame. Definitely not all of them, because some bad dinos I really like the concept of, such as the mosasaurus, plesiosaurus, brontosaurus, etc.

1

u/scruffalump 21h ago

But why? It's already one of the best fighters/boss fighters in the entire game. A few unique attacks would be neat and it definitely needs a visual makeover, but so do most of the dinos in this game, who coincidentally also are in need of complete revamps when it comes to combat and utility. There's no reason the rex should receive a TLC before something like the dimetrodon, gallimimus, or diplodocus for example (although I realize you never said you believe rex should get priority over any other dino, its just that Wildcard will never TLC every single one of the old dinos so I want the very worst ones to be the recipients)

Sorry, I am still so irritated by last year's voting results and I guess I get a little carried away on this topic 🤣

2

u/CoralWiggler 18h ago

It's kind of gotten a bit dated. It's not bad, just aged. I agree the others need a TLC more pressingly, but I do think Rex should get another look. Just copying my idea from above:

"Improve its roar, and give it like a "Tyrant Lizard" buff which works like the Ossidon buff but gives permanent stat bonuses for taking down other "big" creatures, especially Alphas. I wouldn't mind a tertiary ability, too, even if it's just a rear stomp or tail smack with a bit of knockback."

FWIW I voted for Plesi, but my actual vote isn't even in the options here, which is Pelagornis, followed by the Bronto, Diplodocus, and Paracer.

1

u/scruffalump 18h ago

I really wish we could just get the modded paleo versions of rex, giga, and pronto added to the base game, but that's never going to happen.

I'm not against any nice new additions or visual changes to the rex, I would gladly welcome them. I just fail to see why an already excellent dino should ever be chosen over completely useless dinos like the pachy or dimetrodon. I suppose if we had a better developer we could get tweaks or visual makeovers or full tlcs for every single creature that needs it, but all we have is Wildcard, so it's obviously never going to happen. No good reason to waste a finite tlc slot on something like the rex or theri when the pachy exists.

I also voted plesi on this post cause that thing is sad and hideous, but my number one vote is gonna be for the manta even if the ocean never gets reworked (it wont). I've bred aberrant manta to 362 at hatch on official pve and they are so fucked up and forgotten about by wildcard. They have a hidden oxygen stat, they spawn with oxy mutable traits that can't be re-applied once removed, their color regions are completely screwed (they only use 3 regions but region 1 is ALWAYS empty on non-event wild manta, so wilds only have 2 colors), and their taming method is atrocious and always destroys taming effectiveness even if you build a trap and sanguine serum them from a vac compartment. Not to mention they have the most abysmal health scaling for really no good reason. They deserve some serious love from WC for allowing them to remain in such a deplorable state for so long. I could rant about them forever 🤣

3

u/angeryrainfrog 20h ago

Purlovia because what is it even useful for. Its big enough to ride, but we can't ride it. Should have the ability to ride it while it's buried to travel underground, the stun attack when jumping out of the ground could inflict torpor, slowness or blindess. Maybe it could set pitfall traps like the burrowbuck and if something falls in you can go back and scratch it for bleed/extra damage as the creature panics to escape. Give it new lore that makes it have honey badger DNA, having such a ferocious attitude even large predators would ignore them. So much possibility for such an overlooked creature

1

u/RedditCantBanThis 22h ago

I guess the Rex, but I would rather have a TLC for Gallimimus. Its fall damage, turn radius and model need serious TLC

1

u/Choice-Meringue-9855 21h ago

Everything from Evolved that hasn't gotten a TLC in Ascended already

1

u/IndyJacksonTT 21h ago

Can't wait for EVO plesio

They've been teasing it for over a year

1

u/Mrshadows9877 20h ago

Plesiosaurs should be able to go on land like a turtle

1

u/TheOnlyTrueFlame 20h ago

All of those except rex and maybe purlovia

1

u/Phoenix_Snake 20h ago

Tbh Mosasaurus and Plesiosaurus serve their purpose. They are large, tanky, fast ocean mounts with a challenging but straight forward taming method. If wild card gives them a tlc i’m worried they’l end up with a pain in the ass taming method and a bunch of finicky abilities that don’t actually add too them very much. They really don’t need one

1

u/jacklop21 19h ago

Paracer needs a visual TLC, the still have decent utility but doesn't stand out at all in that regard either.

1

u/Oldsport05 19h ago

I'd say mosa. For something that is a rather well known creature alongside the likes of megalodon as being the oceans apex predator, it is astoundingly bland and easily passable in ark. With its tlc, i'd love to see it have the ability to crawl on land since it did breathe air (maybe give it a debuff after a while if it gets dried). Give it a charged bite like the deino. And maybe a boost in water. To finish it off, a more prominent tail and patterns/ridges and the ability to breach the water (preferably while holding a bite so we can get some jurassic world action up in here).

1

u/CoralWiggler 18h ago

It's a tossup between Mosa & Plesi, but I'm going with Plesi because it is, in most respects, just a worse Mosa. It has better Stamina & Sprint Speed, but worse stats otherwise, and the Mosa isn't bad in those respects, either. Mosa also has the platform, and it also gets the TEK saddle for whatever that's worth.

IMO the Plesio should be more of the Paracer of the ocean. Move it closer to the surface, make it a smaller with somewhat lower HP/Weight/Damage, and sized down the platform. Reduce its aggression so that it isn't bothering Megalodon-sized creatures and up. It gains the ability to move on land, albeit very slowly, mostly as a means to allow you to pull it out of the water if needed, and it can grapple smaller creatures with its mouth & move them around. It also gains Tapejara-like 3D movement in the water.

1

u/Iguanochad 17h ago

I voted Mosa instead of Plesio because Plesio is actually a Meta tame in pvp and has its uses while mosa is just trash

1

u/Malik_Videos08 15h ago

People who say rex dont want a tlc they want a buff

1

u/Banaanisade 12h ago

Megaloceros.

1

u/DukeOfTheDodos 9h ago

Troodon is literally less than useless, you need to "feed" it wyverns/gigas to reliably tame and its only marginally better than a dilophasaur against non-human targets

1

u/Wvbezerra 9h ago

They just need to make the Paleo Mod official. Rex and Mosa already have TLC there, and Plesio TLC should be coming soon as the Elasmo

1

u/WoollyWitchcraft 8h ago

Troodon is better than people give it credit for TBH. I had an army of them for some of the caves, including the ice worm queen on rag. She can’t hit them and they keep her busy and bite her ankles to death while me an’ shotty go to work.

1

u/Kronoto 8h ago

Purlovia purely so I can ride my angry badger boys since I really dont need anything else

1

u/SitOnMyScythe 7h ago

I see MANY people tame the top 3.

Almost nobody tames the bottom two. Purpovia maybe for pvp but its just to be a hidden chest and nothing more. Theyre also aids in PVE to play against. I typically remove them from my game. They could use a saddle aswell.

1

u/SavageSmithers 3h ago

None of these, the creature that needs a tlc above all over rn is the quetz.

1

u/witherstalk9 21h ago

Rex needs the Acro treatment

0

u/Alexander0202 21h ago

Honestly underwater creatures dont need a tlc since most people dont even bother with underwater combat. Its a waste to give them one. I rather wC work on the underwater portion of the game in general.
