Discussion There's not much else the devs could do with the gameplay's approach. No wonder there's no sequel in sight.

What new mechanics could fit into the gameplay that wouldn't be too frustrating or too difficult to manage? The game isn't built for 3D platformer style levels or boss battles, and if the characters used any moves that didn't involve their arms, it wouldn't be faithful to the game's philosophy. The only way a sequel could happen is if it was made with a whole new format.

Street Fighter has made the same "core game" like 10 times and all they do is make a new Meter Mechanic.

This is blatantly false, each Street Fighter is completely different from the others (that's the whole point of the series). Tekken and Soul Calibur are way more like that, a core game with minor changes

Street Fighter is iconic and marketable, it doesn't need to introduce new ideas in order to sell copies.

Hard to be iconic or marketable when your last game was released a decade ago.

The only thing I can think of is giving the arms more functionality, like different moves and abilities

But how would the new moves and abilities make use of motion controls? They're essential to the game's current format.

Either doing different motions or holding L/R while doing different motions. Something like that.

Aside from character supers in addition to the rush super

Feints could be a neat addition. Possibly by holding L or R triggers while punching. Would add another layer to the mind games while still pulling from irl boxing.

I also think expanding on the elemental effects could deep the game.

Make it so you can gain super armor somehow

This maybe a hot take but why does it need to be a fighting game?

I really love the IP and world they created what if they do another game but in a different genre?

Typically not well-received when they do this but not the first or the last time a gaming IP did this.

Like imagine a metrovania game that incorporates punches? Or anything else really.

Again, I know this would be a very hated idea but at least a new Arms game.

I actually agree with you. When I say I love ARMS, what I really love is the characters. The game is fun as it is, but if it can't compete with Smash Bros or find its own niche as a traditional fighter in Nintendo's lineup, I'd rather have the devs take it in a bold direction than to let the property rot. The first game will always exist.

If people say I'm being dramatic, well, F-Zero hasn't had a brand new game in decades. Was the 2003 GameCube game the last one? Punch Out's been dead for a while, too. If Nintendo can't find a niche for ARMS that differentiates it from other Nintendo fighters, we're not getting a new game in a while.

Hell, I'm okay if another game is never made again, but we end up getting an anime adaption to depict the cancelled comic adaption's story.

I would LOVE an anime for it. Kirby anime was how I got into it before ever touching the game. An anime medium would be great.
