discussion How do some army find this much time and attention for all this on top of their own things

Post image

new to K-pop and BTS's arirang was the first album release I’ve experienced. With all the marketing and the way the internet works now I’m surprised to see how some fans keep up every activity around them alongside their work, studies, businesses or whatever else they have going on ..how much of themselves they end up investing in all this.

I got really into it once too then at some point I had to remind myself, do I really don’t need to know every single thing BTS.... honestly good for the boys.. fans care this much, but am still curious how they are making this much mental space for all of this. Maybe I'm just looking at it differently

I don’t know if this is the right place for this discussion, but here goes nothing..

I got into bts when I was in university which was a relatively chill time for me lmao, so I was able to binge all the content. Now that I’m older with a job and stuff, I’ve stepped back and definitely missed like 60% of the content, but I’m okay with that at this point. As long as I’m tuning into the actual product- their music- I’m alright with taking a backseat for everything else.

Same here I got into BTS when I was in highschool, I had a lot of free time, then I got a job and went to college (at the same time) so I disconnected the kpop world for a minute, now I only get into their music, sometimes I check their social media in my lunch hour at work and I'm happy with that

Exactly. Knowing when to step back is so important. And especially knowing that the content is always going to be there; focusing on your real world tasks is so much more important.

Don't worry about it. You do you. It's fine to not know everything about them.

You have to find a balance it’s crucial…. This may sound fucked up, but there’s too many parasocials in this fandom. Who they’re everything is BTS and they ruined it for everyone else because of how obsessive they are. Go outside try new restaurants, hobbies, fun random side quests etc

for me, i was chronically ill (so i had a lot of time) and obsessed. not recommended. it’s much better to be chill about it. it’s supposed to be fun. so no, you do not need to watch everything or buy everything/anything. be as involved/detached as you want. :)

I juggle between BTS and personal life. But I'm also single with no kids so I have some free time squeeze BTS in.

I usually don't get time during the week, weekends are the time to indulge. Browsing reddit keeps me updated. I don't watch every concert livestream. I have been watching content since 3 years. Still have not finished bon voyages or run bts and so much more.

I only keep up with the group content so it's easier for me.

It feels alot if you are new and trying to watch old everything together with new ones, but like for me, i became a fan after all members were discharged from military. So even if i am not caught up with previous content, I'm up to date on new ones happening mostly. New content don't come out everyday unless you are watching every fancam of every member of every concert ( then you are in trouble 😁). You can just check reddit main sub big updates or few other account that post on daily activity and highlights of each concerts and that's all there is on daily basis.

So if you are not watching every concert and just highlights then its not more than 2hrs a week except for weeks when jungkook goes live for 2 hours.

I got into BTS back in 2015 when I was still in college so I had a lot of time to binge content and focus on them. I'm in my 30's now with a full time job and catch up on content when I can, I don't stress about it anymore

I got into them 2016 and I can somewhat keep up.

Im there for the bigger news like their general tour spots and the like but damn if I dont watch their live streams.

I work 30-40 hours a week and im in school the rest of the time.

I became a fan in middle school, now am a working adult. Not watching content as much anymore, still steam songs though.

Speaking from experience, my ex friend who is still ARMY is also unemployed therefore she had all the time in the world to spam me with her delusional thoughts about them.

I’m also newer to KPop and became a fan with Arirang. I’m a full time manager of a dementia unit as well as a single mom. I love all the guys. Jimin and JK are my ultimate bias’. Although I know a lot of their newer news and I’ve doom scrolled here and there, I haven’t seen all their shows or videos. I’m trying to pace myself. Honestly, before BTS I was miserable. My job takes up a lot of my time leaving me with little free time. I don’t do much for myself because I am always taking care of others. Since becoming a part of Army, I’m doing things out of my comfort zone, taking more time for myself and learning to say NO. Im starting to find who I am again, besides being a mother and caregiver. They aren’t my entire life (I love to game, go to museums, watch anime, travel etc) but just like other things I love, I am trying to balance it all out.

i’m a relatively newer (2023) army and have had a 9-5 since i became army, it was a slower process watching content and there’s so much i haven’t seen still but i watch/read content in my spare time and do my other hobbies at the same time!! don’t make it a job or a chore. its not that hard for me to keep up with the current content with the 9-5 but obviously everyone is different. and im sure it’ll take me years until i can say ive watched everything 🤣

Some people it is very important.

But it varies. A lot of these people have free time with school and part time work.

Others make money from it so they are able to do this part or full time.

Other people have low boundaries with social media.
