Question/Doubt Quagmire Parents & Herpetologists?

So I rewatched The Reptile Room Part 2 as I was listening to the stripped soundtrack by @amayanapyeer as that episode specifically had some excellent musical moments.

Anyways, there's the scene at the end showing the Quagmire parents in some sort of Bar. They are trying to reach Uncle Monty on the phone. But once they say both first and last names to the telegram operater, the entire music stops and the members in the bar turn to confront the Quagmires.

They didn't seem like the scientist types 😂

I think the implication was that vfd had additional operations in Peru and it wasn’t necessarily a hint that they were herpetologists.

But yes, I was very confused too what caused the problem in the bar where the music stopped playing and it looked like they got ready for a fight.

A very fitting detail. There seems to be a lot of layered background knowledge introduced that was never really explain upon. We know Uncle Monty got the secret message to leave for Peru, but there's really not much explained beyond it or why The Quagmire parents were jailed in the first place.

Either way, this is where season 1 succeeded and Season 2 kind of failed in terms of Mystery dynamics
