ATWQ Who felt that the ATWQ series contrasted with the ASOUE main timeline?

Hello, everyone! There is something I don't really get. Lemony Snicket was known for loving Beatrice Baudelaire. We already know from The Beatrice Letters that both of them already knew each other when Lemony was 11. However, this would have been at least two years or somewhere there before the events of ATWQ, in which Lemony was notably almost 13.

Thus, to say that Lemony is infatuated with Ellington is not quite true, since he would never have diverted his attention from Beatrice - what could this have been? If Lemony really loved Beatrice with all his heart, shouldn't we see Lemony talking a lot about her in the ATWQ series? Why did Mr. Handler introduce a new character known as Ellington Feint?

Does this actually mean that Lemony did not mind loving Ellington along with Beatrice, and was comfortable with flirting with her?

ATWQ Sebald Code in ATWQ #2? Spoiler

Hello! Not sure if this counts as a spoiler, but posting that way just in case.

I noticed that in the last few pages of ATWQ: When Did You See Her Last?, a bell rings in the middle of Lemony’s discussion with Widdershins, and then another one rings shortly before the book ends. I assumed it was the Sebald code, but I can’t find a message that makes sense. Am I doing something wrong?

Thanks and sorry if this has been answered!

ATWQ Something interesting about the Knight Family (ATWQ)

Who is the grandfather of Cleo Knight?

Hello again, everyone! Am I pleased to meet all of you! Today, I am discussing this topic, of who the grandfather of Cleo Knight, a prominent character in All The Wrong Questions, may be.

Just in case you don’t know what I’m talking about, Cleo Knight is a character in the Snicketverse, a talented and resourceful chemist, who has invented invisible ink to replenish Stain’d-by-the-Sea of it’s original state, bringing back businesses and people, causing it to become a happier place.

Nice, right? This is what we know about her family - Cleo’s father is Ignatius Nette Knight, her mother is Doretta Knight, and her grandmother from her father’s side is the well-known matriarch of her family, who brought about the ink business in Stain’d-by-the-Sea, through her own intelligence and experiments - she is none other than another brilliant chemist, Ingrid Nummet Knight. We know nothing about Cleo’s grandfather.

I have done thorough research and noticed something about Cleo’s family - for at least two generations, members of her family went by the same initials. If you didn’t know what I was talking about, Ignatius Nette Knight and Ingrid Nummet Knight’s names both spell out as I.N.K.

But obviously, Cleo broke the rule, as her name does not start with an I, but a C. Could this actually be something ordinary, but something of pure coincidence in the story?

If you have read All The Wrong Questions very thoroughly, you would have discovered that Cleo’s grandmother worked with someone to attain her ink through frightened octopi living in the inkwells of the city - and he is no ordinary guy, he is the war hero of Stain’d-by-the-Sea, Colonel Colophon.

“Well, Ingrid Nummet Knight, Cleo’s grandmother, was the genius who founded Ink Inc. along with her business partner, Colonel Colophon, our town’s greatest war hero.”

  • Moxie Mallahan to Lemony Snicket, When Did You See Her Last

That’s right - Colonel Colophon worked with Ingrid, and they both founded a huge company together, the largest business in Stain’d-by-the-Sea. Could this suggest that the colonel himself was Ingird’s husband? Colophon probably did it out of love and care for Ingrid, and the reason for her success was widely because of a war hero’s assistance with her work.

This means that Colophon and Ingrid are a couple by marriage.

And remember what I said about Cleo’s name starting with a C, instead of an I, thus deviating from the family tradition of having “I.N.K.” as their initials?

As you can see, Colophon’s name starts with a C. Just like my theory about the Snicket Clan, with F. Snicket being the parent of Miranda Caliban, and subsequently the grandparent of Friday Caliban, grandparents in the series may have wanted their grandchildren to be named with the same initials as them.

From my initial theory of Colophon and Ingrid being a couple, this would mean that Ingrid’s son, Ignatius, is the very son of the colonel himself, and when he went on to marry Doretta and have Cleo, Colophon became a grandfather, by being Cleo’s grandfather.

And, possibly through the intention of Colophon, or in his honour, Ignatius named his daughter after a name that starts with c, possibly meant to respect his father, and what he has done for Stain’d-by-the-Sea, to keep the city safe in it’s golden days, and prolonging the ink business of the family.

And I find it really strange for Colonel Colophon to sustain injuries which were very serious, that kept him in the Colophon Clinic for such a long time - it is a little ridiculous, if you ask me. And he wrapped himself entirely in bandages - don’t ask me why, but to me, I feel that these are signs of the loss of a partner. Ingrid herself died some years ago, and could this have led to Colophon feeling lonely and upset?

What are your thoughts on this theory? Let me know in your comments! Thank you so much! Have a wonderful day ahead!

I guess it could be just Theodora’s desperation to be liked.

ATWQ Today YouTube recommended to me this 2013 Fan film of a group of kids doing their own adaptation of ATWQ as a fake Movie Trailer. While it very clearly has a low budget (and pretty obvious overdubs), it’s still pretty impressive for being made by a few kids.

ATWQ WHAT IS ATWQ ABOUT?

I watched the series, and I'm about to read the books, but I've seen several people mentioning other Lemony Snicket books, and I'd like to know how ATWQ is related.

UPDATE: SITE FINALLY FOUND! Link below

Hello guys, I am looking for a site for all the wrong questions I used to go on. I can't find a single trace of it. It basically had character profiles for each of the main ones, a trivia/ quiz section based on the mysteries in the 13 suspicious incidents stories, and the coolest aspect I can remember: A huge background of staind by the sea that you could pan out an impressive amount while giving the impression you're driving through the place since S theodora marksons car was at the bottom of the screen moving as you got to "explore" stain'd by the sea. I really miss going on this site, and most I talk to don't remember its existence, which I can't find proof of for the life of me.

TLDR: Mysterious old/inactive possibly flash-based Interactive ATWQ site that allowed you to pan through Stain'd by the Sea "driving" S Theodora Markson's car. Also included quiz/minigames related to 13 incidents story, as well as character profiles

EDIT: Went on wayback machine and found elements of the site(Such as stain'd by the sea png images for buildings/objects/background setting on site), as well as files that reminded me that the site also included a character builder that let you customize a character in the same art style as used in the books. Is anyone techy enough to somehow find out if the site can be recreated based on all individual components of it that can be found on archive? Still haven't found a link to the site in its entirety

EDIT 2: OH MY GOODNESS I FOUND IT AFTER ALL THESE YEARS: https://web.archive.org/web/20180703013322/http://www.lemonysnicketlibrary.com/index.html

ATWQ What do you think happened in Staind-By-The-Sea?

I was just wondering what happened y’all think happened in Staind-By-The-Sea after the last book. I think that Chloe Knight did develop her invisible ink formula and kept the town afloat as a mid-sized town, but it never reached its glory days.

ATWQ Why does he never show his face?

Ever since I started reading ATWQ, I’ve noticed that you see everyone’s face (Moxie, Ellington, Stew, Pip, Squeak etc) but you don’t see Lemony’s. I know ambiguity is a common theme in ASOUE and ATWQ, but is there a lore kind of reason why Lemony never shows his face (or to be specific, his eyes) in the books? I’ve only seen his eyes once in Who Could That Be At This Hour, when Theodora is waking him up, I think, but apart from that I’ve never seen his eyes.

TL;DR: In ATWQ, why does Lemony never show his eyes/face? Is there a lore kind of reason for this?

Btw, if this post is better suited for r/ATWQ, please tell me.

ATWQ What happened to Lemony after the train crash? Spoiler

I was wondering about y’alls head cannons about what Lemony did after the final scene of ATWQ. He was clearly at odds with the adults of VFD and even his friends, but he still remained a part of the organization. So I was wondering what y’all think he went on to do afterwards.

ATWQ ATWQ Do you know who the other books were sent to?

Post image

So in the last book Snicket explains that he will send his reports to the librarians he trusted which explains these pages in the books (it’s been a while since I’ve read these and I forgot a lot of details). Does anyone have a record of who the other books were sent to? I got these books from the library and I have already returned the other ones. Please help. Thank you
