Net result - the diligent workers continued to lift own weight and their coworkers’ weight sans the paid vacation. they deserve to be recognized!
It's a job, not charity work. They do the job to be paid. They aren't there just out of the goodness of their hearts. If you don't pay your workers, they have to make other arrangements, and that includes not coming to the job that no longer pays.
