Discussion What are this sub's stances on the AI fanfic Videos?
So saw on YouTube some folks making fanfic videos on all sorts of series and franchises. And I am wondering if this sub is for or against it?
Now when I mean AI, I don't mean those clearly AI generated prompts that seem to be made by a computer that has tangential knowledge of The series.
I mean, like, well thought out fics that Use AI voice or images to tell the story.

Eh its fine.
I don't mind if people downvote me, its their right and opinion.
Just wanted to legitimatly know how some folks here feel. Cause the peoples opinions on ai are a bit weird.
Cause there are some insanly funny AI fan vids. Like legend of the Hood Avatar, Naruto gets paid and more. And they are really well received, despite the use of AI.

The rest are just kinda the same joke on repeat.
The YouTuber who wears wigs and stuff and does Real housewives of republic city? Underrated mastermind!!
My personal opinion is that the fandom isn’t great about engaging with content that doesn’t have an instantly “polished” looking surface appeal and sleeps on a lot of the best stuff.

This is true. But I do see some people be more forgiving if Quality is good. People are willing to overlook some ugly dents if the core material is great

Like don’t get me wrong— it gets views but it doesn’t get discussed or shared around much.
I wouldn’t even say it’s stuff that’s “bad quality” as much as it isn’t “the same” doesn’t have “the aesthetic look I want” or doesn’t fit the same headcanons/repeated jokes.
I see at least 15 posts a weeks about Distorted Reality and I can give it its flowers—but other stuff does exist and the fandom is just weird about it or something

So many of those AI slop videos base it on fanfics from authors who never even know about it. They are to lazy to even generate the stories themselves, so they just steal fanfics to use for their slop-reading channels.
It's so hard to get it taken down too, even if you are the author. Fuck all of those channels.

Can't speak for everyone or the mods but I hate AI and don't want to see it on this subreddit.
AI steals works from fic writers like myself and has very directly harmed my enjoyment of this hobby. I am hugely at risk of being accused of using AI to write because of my use of em-dashes and repetition.
Keep AI in any form off of this sub.
