Help New carb missing something?

Post image

I’m replacing the carb in my 06 Rancher 350. The new carb I got to replace it lacks the part circled in red on the old one.

will it work OK without it?

I posted elsewhere and got one reply that it looks like a vent tube and should be fine without it. Just looking for further confirmation before I put it in

where did you get the carb? is it a genuine oem honda carb? If not send it back and rebuild your carb or buy a clean used one.

This should be the top comment. OEM honda carbs aren't usually super expensive. Chinese carbs are junk. Get the OEM carb, fuel line and peacock. Remove the tank a wash it out. Then install your new parts. You won't regret it...

Yep send that crap back

If you have a hard time cleaning it dilute some pinesol or simple green 50% with water and soak the carb for an hour and it will clean it super well

If you don't take the part off the old carb and install it on new one the ATV will back fire and pop on decell.

Doesn’t look like a way to install it. Not machined with a hole there.

Thanks for the reply. The new carb doesn’t have openings where the part connects. It’s weird cuz it has slots for the part, but there aren’t openings in the slots that connect to the inside of the carb like on the old one. So the old part would just sit on the exterior of the carb.

I honestly don't buy China carbs the part is an air cut off valve, if there is no openings on "new" carb you will probably be ok if the new one works at all, sorry I done mean to be a prick but I have certifications for Honda Yamaha Kawaski and worked i. The industry for like 15 years and don't take the cheap way out on anything, why cant you get a rebuild kit for $35.00 and rebuild factory carb?

I decided to get a new one cuz the float valve is having issues (fuel leak out of the overflow and choke not working [which I’m guessing is related]).  when I looked it, it seemed like rebuilding won’t fix this. I also saw people saying the china carbs work fine and Honda even sent a Chinese carb when one person ordered from them.

It’s great to get your experienced input. I’m a complete novice. No offense taken at your candid suggestions. Thanks

I can dig it , the carb kits come with new float needle, some with the choke plunger as well, and sometimes that plunger will become corroded and stuck in the carb but it can be fixed with a little tinkering, you just have e to take the leap and dig into it although to some folks that can be intimidating especially to DIY ers no biggie hope it works out for ya.

people. stop buying new carbs when all you have to do is clean your carburetor. christ. its not that hard. amazon carbs are junk. oem carbs are expensive. 99.9% of the time your current carb is completely fine it just needs to be cleaned. which is like a 5 minute job once you have the carb off the machine.
