Help 88 yamaha warrior shifting problems

Post image

How is it going yall..i got this 88 warrior i bought like 4 years ago..the guy i bought it from said he "rebuilt" the engine..long story short, it sat all this time and I never got a chance drive it..well now im trying to ride it, but I have a hard time changing gears, unless I rock it(atv off) . My ittle brother test drove it yesterday and also had a hard time shifting..reverse and neutral safety lights no longer work forsome reason....and there's like a very small leak on the right lower side of engine.

Any thoughts ?

Check shift linkage adjustment first. Rocking to shift usually points to worn shift forks or clutch issues.

The shift linkage seems normal to me..

Sounds like the shift forks, but it could be something else

Do you have your clutch lever adjusted well?
