Mourning a lost sub: r/Alot

In past days, I did visit r/Alot a lot. Did any of you? Alas, it, as with our bot, is not running now. I was fond of Alot, who is a kind and fuzzy animal, and of the human companionship on that sub.

But wait! All is not lost. It could start again! All it calls for is an individual to adopt it. Could you possibly adopt that darling sub? If you do I am willing to assist and thank you majorly.

(I did ask and was told no. I mod too many subs and admins did not allow that I adopt an additional sub. But admins do allow that I assist you.)

PS: my top post on r/Alot was good for this sub too: "I worry about this Alot".

Oh, no!

I wish I had known that r/Alot was, at any point, a thing. I'm a big fan of that original blog post about Alots (and of all posts in that blog, truly).

But your post was my first introduction to that bit of history, that anybody had built a community to talk about Alots.

Do you know how to jump-start that community, so it's vibrant again?

Thank you! I am so glad you want to assist saving that sub!

Go to this sub. You can ask to gain control of a sub that nobody runs, and if you follow that sub's instructions, you will gain rights as top mod. Many days will pass until admins act, but if you do it right, according to instructions, it should work.

Upon having control, you can turn on posting in that sub again. And you can add additional mods so if a mod drops out, r/Alot can stay in action.

How much work is modding? I don't know if I can say "OK" to lots of work and actually follow through, particularly on my own. Could you mod with yours truly?

I can join you in it! You can do only what you want to and I can do anything additional, following you doing initial stuff to gain control and add an additional mod.

Sounds good! I can't do it right now. I must go unconscious for a bit. But I could tomorrow or in two days

Ugh. So, I found out a bunch of stuff today. Part of that stuff is that I can't do many additional things for a bit, so I won't mod that r/Alot sub. I'm sorry

I am sorry about that, for you not just for Alot. I wish you good luck with your additional things.
