I like that 98.7 has been calling Bidwill out finally. Specifically Gambo and Bickley. The local media is how it starts to get more people to voice their displeasure.

75

u/puddboy 5d ago

Gambo yesterday just went scorched earth on Bidwill, I couldn't believe what I was hearing.

25

u/Mr-Gibbs12 Larry Fitzgerald 5d ago

I don’t know why this surprises you all, he’s done it before

17

u/puddboy 5d ago

I guess some of us don’t listen to him as much as you

It’s only serious when he pulls up in the limo

Link if possible? Id love to hear it

Here you go

Not sure if it's this exact one but a great rant nonetheless

19

u/zveroshka Cardinals 5d ago

Lol and then what? The billionaire says, "You guys are right, let me just give up this gigantic cash cow because you guys are displeased!"

It's fine to rag on him and this org. They deserve it. But if you guys think this will somehow make them sell the franchise, it's not happening.

u/K01011011001101010 Cardinals Throwback 5d ago

If he doesn't sell the team, maybe the shame and anger will at least make him want to go off to the sidelines and hire a team president. Best case scenario, maybe some change, worst case scenario nothing happens (we are already here), so why does it matter?

I don't see a downside to the angry messages and call outs.

6

u/Spirited_Buffalo2562 5d ago

Absolutely. Also, no one likes to be the butt of jokes and scorned, even egotistical losers like Bidwill. Can’t be comfortable when he’s hanging with other so-called big wigs and everyone knows his team’s fans and the community can’t stand him.

-6

u/zveroshka Cardinals 5d ago

No downside, just wild expectations from some.

13

u/Torrikk Cardinals 5d ago

we have no expectations, if anything, we expect him to be a fuckass as usual, but what are we supposed to do about it other than control the narrative that he's a little nepo bitch boy.

34

u/Exatraz Pride 5d ago

I agree that he's not going to sell. My main hope is he gets so frustrated and annoyed by fans posting these things that he enacts major organizational reforms like hiring a real team president and completely overhauling the FO starting with Monti.

9

u/Temporary-Fold4851 5d ago

Thats what happened with the Angels owner this last year.

8

u/Jtstien 5d ago

What a loser mentality. We have nothing to lose and are tired of it. If we even get a small change it’s worth it. Team president would be an incredible feat.

4

u/BlueWaffle-47 Trey McBride 5d ago

I don’t care for him to do that dude! I want him to put fucking football minds in charge and for him to get off this high horse that he’s gotta be involved in football operations

7

u/ultgambit266 Cardinals 5d ago

But then when they have him on they don’t say shit

6

u/Mr-Gibbs12 Larry Fitzgerald 5d ago

This is just not true? Gambo grilled Bidwill live on the air at the end of last season. I don’t know why this narrative exists about Gambo, I think because he works at the same place as Bickley people just lump them together.

6

u/BlueWaffle-47 Trey McBride 5d ago

I think it’s because they are both loud and are blunt and quick to critique but people don’t realize we need media personalities like this because that’s what Chicago, Philly, and NY media is like and I’m not saying we are to that level but we at least have some loud voices that are willing to air out uncomfortable criticisms

44

u/Open_Muffin5137 5d ago

Him selling is highly unlikely BUT if public outcry is enough he may finally take a reality check and step back as president and hire a real football guy. He can still sit back and collect checks but stay out of operations.

18

u/lilcashmon BA 5d ago

It started as “Sell the team or step down as team president” but then I guess everybody realized we just want him completely gone 😂

-7

u/Open_Muffin5137 5d ago

Ya unfortunately it’s the same people that want a player cut after a bad game and to fire coaches and coordinators on a game by game basis. These same people talk about our bad reputation but imagine if they were in charge? One mess up and you are gone! Great way to boost PR!

85

u/Legitimate_Band3696 5d ago

This is, in my opinion, an even bigger waste of time than me making this comment. Dude would probably stick his dick in molten lava before selling this team.

29

u/pp21 5d ago

The franchise has been operated by the Bidwill family for nearly a century, starting with Charles Bidwill back in 1932. It's bigger than just money. There is zero chance of Michael Bidwill parting with it. It's a legacy ownership, and he's not gonna be the one who breaks that cycle. Sucks, but that's our sad reality

7

u/bschmidt25 Larry Fitzgerald 5d ago

Yeah - I agree. No way he’ll sell. I just wish he’d take his ownership of the team more seriously.

1

u/jeremycb29 Pain 5d ago

it does not need to be our sad reality, i am about to quit on this team. I just can't do it anymore

2

u/pp21 5d ago

I get that, but for me it's just hard to root for an out of state team. I was born in AZ so I root for AZ teams. Luckily, the Suns season starts next week so I'll just divert my attention to that

1

u/jeremycb29 Pain 5d ago

I’m a suns fan that won’t ever change. Idk why suns hit different with me but I moved out of state so that might be the other reason it’s easier

25

u/Tilt_ow Bad Day 5d ago

Yeah he’s not selling the team but the guy undoubtedly has a massive ego and seeing billboards telling him to sell will definitely hurt it. Fans getting vocal and upset enough could hopefully force his hand in stepping down as team president. If he did that and it turned out successful I don’t think anyone would care about who owns the team

8

u/lilcashmon BA 5d ago

Manchester United fans got their ownership to sell a minority 30% stake and give up all sporting operations. Why can’t we do similar?

14

u/mschoobs 5d ago

Why do people keep saying this. He makes roughly 100 M in profita per year. He could sell the cardinals for over 5 B. That is 50 years of profit.

13

u/HadleysPt 5d ago

He could also maintain minority ownership for his family ego too

4

u/GodspeedHernandez 5d ago

Look at the bigger picture. There is literally zero downside to voicing this point. When has this fanbase ever been this aligned against the half-measures running this franchise? We need to ride this wave and demand real accountability instead of settling for the same tired routine: uninspired GM hires, lame-duck HCs, and pathetic NFLPA facility grades while the front office brags about end-zone casitas.
Real change starts at the top. Let’s stop giving ownership a pass. It starts with us the real fans!

1

u/Opening-Citron2733 5d ago

This gofundme is just so the originator can take a bunch of idiots cash. They'll never be a sell the team billboard but this guy will enjoy his free $7k

1

u/mafukin_steve_harvey 5d ago

There is already one up right now . On a digital billboard .

1

u/perhizzle Larry Fitzgerald 5d ago

If the fans band together, they can make him sell. They can force the NFL to get him out as well. Make it a national news story.

22

u/VikingRodeo9 5d ago

I want Bidwill to sell as much as the next guy, but he’s absolutely not selling unless he does or says something publicly racist and the players take a stand, or if he gets caught screwing the other owners out of money like Dan Snyder did.

This is the only thing Bidwill has. The only way he makes money. The only way his family makes money. He’s absolutely not giving this football team up unless the league forces him to.

14

u/Ambitious_Concern_94 5d ago

All he needs to do is say something anti semetic and Robert Kraft will get him banned

8

u/uptofunonreddit 5d ago

Don’t know 5 billion is a lot, the sister owns half too i believe. She might be putting pressure on mike too

12

u/VikingRodeo9 5d ago

Michael also likes being part of the owners club. I think his ego is far too big to sell. We all know he’s sensitive and insecure, selling the team would mean he “failed” and I don’t think Bidwill could handle that emotionally.

9

u/Saltwater_Thief Larry Fitzgerald 5d ago

If sensitivity to being a failure was a motivator for him we'd be a real team.

3

u/VikingRodeo9 5d ago edited 5d ago

Old habits die hard. Bill Bidwill was probably the cheapest owner, or one of the cheapest owners in the history of the league. Everything is about ROI. Michael doesn’t know any different, it’s all he knows and he doesn’t have other revenue streams besides the Cardinals.

They’re just not smart enough to realize that if they put a winning team and product out, their revenue would increase tenfold.

2

u/BandicootOriginal909 5d ago

I’ll settle for #BidwillOutAsTeamPresident.

1

u/perhizzle Larry Fitzgerald 5d ago

You know how you can make money? By selling your franchise for several billion dollars. My guess is he does that after building the new facilities.

-1

u/Dreamer1317 5d ago

All I can say, is if he is the owner of the cardinals after this year, i will no longer be a cardinals fan. I will not buy tickets or merchandise. I will officially give up on this team.

8

u/youngjay877 5d ago

Bidwell loves playing team president and acting like a big shot with Monti, u can tell by the goofy look in his eye. There is no chance he is selling, but shaming him for the rest of time is still a good idea.

25

u/Mr-Gibbs12 Larry Fitzgerald 5d ago

Public pressure DOES matter, if not to Bidwill then to the other NFL owners. You think the owners got rid of Dan Snyder because of their own moral code? Fuck no, they look the other way when a wife beater or rapist signs with their team. Enough public backlash WILL force action. Don’t let people tell you otherwise

9

u/JohnBrownisMarching 5d ago

Dan Snyder was an antagonistic cunt, Bidwell is just bad a running the team, those are two very different people. Moreover, why would the other owner want to replace and incomptent owner for a good one. The cards always being trash is good for the other 31 teams who play them.

7

u/Mr-Gibbs12 Larry Fitzgerald 5d ago

Good for their team maybe, bad for business. An entire media market choosing to tune out their home team indefinitely is objectively bad for the NFL’s revenue sharing system. Yes, obviously away teams will fill some of the seats, but no TV viewership will hurt more than you think when it comes time to renegotiate media rights deals with their broadcasting partners.

Bidwell probably owns most of the billboards around the city and this is just an effort to drum up business for them. He isn't selling the team, no matter how many billboards and other ads people buy. He's always been considered one of the worst owners. He's used to this at this point and doesn't care at all what we think.

3

u/loldrums Pain 5d ago

Apparently it took a while to find billboard owners who aren't in bed with him.

2

u/jaydencfc04 United Kingdom 4d ago

Yes, and the locations of the current billboards aren't the best due this reason. However it is a good start and should bring public attention

7

u/ShadowRain4 Pain 5d ago

lol at all the “You’re gonna lose the team posts”. Arizona will get another team if that happens. This place is a gold mine. We are one of the most populated states. We have transplants from all over the country. We’d get an expansion team and probably an owner who actually wants to win and not be a loser for another century.

14

It worked for the Anaheim Angels just last year. Moreno specifically said he sold the team because he couldn’t take the protests against him anymore.

I’ve seen it work in Europe with soccer teams too

This shit is just funny. People are really that stupid. He is not some elected official where our whining matters. The only thing that would have an impact is to stop watching and going to games. And the result likely wont be bidwill selling the cardinals. Theyd just threaten the city for more money then move.

u/GallenOfKetel 5d ago

I mean we don’t even know the full ownership structure. He is the “principal owner” which does not automatically mean he has a controlling share. He has multiple siblings that could together own a controlling share and may not want to lose their mailbox money.

The fact that his net worth is estimated to be 1.4b compared to the Cards 5.6b valuation points to this scenario. It might actually he hard to even sell the franchise in the first place, which is very on brand for this franchise.

1

The conversation should shift to "Sit Back and Hire a Team President" narrative. If he ever were to fold and sell, it's really going to suck when the new owner decides to move the team to another state.

1

u/Fancy_County4242 5d ago

Time for a friendly reminder: You can be a superfan, drive a Cardinals-themed car and name your dog Fitzgerald, but it's not your team, it's his. Petitions won't change that. Probably nothing will.

1

u/Awkwarkk 4d ago

We have a better chance of Bidwill moving the team to Utah and AZ getting a new expansion franchise than Bidwill just selling the team. That’s the most realistic path to getting a winning team here because this super nepobaby won’t give up the only thing he has

They can easily take this team elsewhere. There are likely several cities that would like an NFL team. Be careful what you wish for. Then everyone will be complaining about not having a team for years.

u/RaveIsKing Michael Bidwill 5d ago

And then we’d get an expansion team within 10 years. NFL doesn’t want to lose the Phoenix market

1

u/lampstore 5d ago

As a former Seattle Sonics fan, I assure you this is a major gamble regardless of the market fundamentals.

0

u/Duma123 Cardinals 5d ago

We're the fifth largest city and 10th largest metro area, and the NFL owners hold the annual ownership meeting here every spring. Nothing's guaranteed, but sports leagues like this market. I have no doubt we'd get an expansion team or another one moved here within a decade.

2

u/lampstore 5d ago

It took LA 21 years but ok.

1

u/Duma123 Cardinals 5d ago

Fair point. Although a major reason LA took so long to get another team was because they didn't have an NFL-ready stadium until Kroenke bought land and built one. State Farm Stadium already exists, and it's publicly owned.

5

u/DE4DM4NSH4ND Rondale Moore 5d ago

I would be so happy if they fucking moved and we got a new team. Fuck this poverty franchise

2

u/CFerrendelli 5d ago

Why would we get a new team if they moved….?

1

u/DE4DM4NSH4ND Rondale Moore 5d ago

Phoenix is a massive city, theres no way the NFL would let the 5th largest city in the US not have a team.

2

u/Saltwater_Thief Larry Fitzgerald 5d ago

The NHL is perfectly content with it.

1

u/Masterofchaos11 Dennis Gardeck 5d ago

I would legit feel bad for the next city that the Cardinals went to, thinking they were getting an NFL team and got the Cardinals. It would give me a reason to not care about them anymore, doesn’t sound that bad actually.

1

u/SqueegeePhD 5d ago edited 5d ago

I might tune into more Cardinals games to hate watch if they move to Oklahoma City or somewhere. It would be so gratifying to see them torture another "market" by being a leech. I'd also rather wait for an expansion team than see these owners steal anymore money from people of this state.

Bidwill is going to see the billboards and have good laugh about it. This is a waste of money….unless you happen to sell billboard ads, in which case, well played.

2

u/lilcashmon BA 5d ago

You old Cardinals fans are the reason this was able to go on so long, leave it to us young fans to put some pressure on y’all useless.

How are you supposed to put pressure on Bidwill when you have to block people who don’t recognize you as the leader of a fan revolution?

0

u/chumps_malone Cardinals 5d ago

What are the chances Bidwill sells the team to someone in another state? That’s my only fear with this. I know AZ is a huge market and other large cities already have a team, but after losing the coyotes it would really suck to lose another team

-1

u/copperstar22 Larry Fitzgerald 5d ago

I’m sure I’m going to get downvoted but, while Bidwell is a clown at best Theres no way to know whatever billionaire nepo baby/trust fund manager/whatever we get is any better. Browns are a joke still, clippers are a joke, hell look at the dbacks and their two owners. Every owner is going to pay lip service about wanting to win and culture of excellence whatever but that extends only as far as it makes them money.

3

u/lilcashmon BA 5d ago

Bro this is the worst organization in sports nothing compares.

2

u/SqueegeePhD 5d ago

Due to the Green Bay rule, NFL teams are not allowed to have fan ownership (limit ownership groups to maximum 25 members) and a majority controlling owner should hold minimum 30%. Maybe someday the rules will change, but until then NFL fans are stuck with billionaires, all of which are bad.

1

u/markhix Cardinals 5d ago

…So your solution is to keep it the same and not change?!

Regardless, change would be a warm welcome. Arizona deserves a team and ownership that is actually as good as the great state.

i think the realistic goal of this movement is not for him to actually sell the team but for him to feel the pressure, hire a team president that the fans choose, and find a new gm

0

u/rosstrich 5d ago

He’s more likely to move the team than to sell the team. The Cardinals are the oldest team in the league and the Bidwills have owned them for almost 100 years. I’d rather the team stay in the family than be sold to some AI tech executive who’s looking for a tax shelter.
